This. Ex: People focus on career and making money literally as a cope to offset other insecurities

All of life is a giant cope so at least do one that is fun and can let you physically beat up others while gaining respect from others still

working is cope for not being rich
reading is cope for not knowing everything
I didn't even read the post but almost everything is "cope" if you define cope as changing something within your control because it benefits you more than doing nothing.

Any homosexual that posts on twitter is a subhumans and I am better than them by default. Also, I could probably beat this queer to death and there's nothing he could do about it.

You made the mistake of posting something vaguely related to lifting. This thread is more on topic than 50% of the shit that gets posted here.

constructive cope is proactively resisting inertness
destructive cope is a proactive delusion of conformity
heh, something tells me the latter is highly specific to one of the genders, BUT, nothing personnel, zoomer

I'd love to meet a person like that IRL, so that I could ask them what, in their opinion, is not cope. What is this true and genuine thing we should all be doing instead of whatever it is they find shallow?

Funny he believes that people need to "cope with modernity" when we live in the best time ever.

His belief that modernity is something you have to cope with, is just a cope that he invented because his life is shit and he won't realize that so he makes up this BS thing that modernity is so bad. Nah brah, your life is bad.

These people believe that psychological health lies in mediocrity. Lifting to look slightly better and get healthy is fine. Pushing the limits is psychologically unhealthy. Funny how they don't apply the same logic to their intellectual hobbies of observing and deconstructing everything to fit their worldview. "A little bit of intellect is fine. Pushing the limits of your intellect is clearly a sign of psychological compensation and anything you said can be dismissed. Some thing deeper is going on here lol"

Never understood why almost everyone on this fricking website thinks coping is bad. I know it's a meme, but people tend to actually believe this shit it seams.

Glad to see others in this thread who are on the same page though

I'm with you on this because coping is a natural human response to an unpleasant condition(s). Something shitty happens to you, potentially outside your control and through no fault of your own? You learn to cope and live with it. But there's good coping and bad coping, of course I assume you already know this.

What most anons really mean to say, I think, when they call out a 'cope,' is that somebody is lying to themselves or otherwise avoiding the reality of a situation in order to avoid an unpleasant realization. However, a lot of them also just point out a cope whether or not it's a healthy one because it's a trendy buzzword response that absolves them of any critical thinking responsibilities

yeah obviously lol. why exactly would a person self-improve if they hadn't identified things about them that were not good enough?

any attempt to better yourself is inherently an acknowledgement of your own failure and weakness. if you were perfect you wouldn't need to or be able to better yourself.

the natural state of man is failure and inadequacy. none of us are the people that we ought to be. that's why we should have more compassion for others, imo. let he who is without sin cast the first stone, and all that.

No it’s not a cope. What’s a pathetic autistic cope is having to attribute some buzzword or phrase to every frickin thing you do. Like the morons on here calling everything “maxxing”.

You can’t even do an activity because you enjoy it. No, you have to call this “Self-Improvment” like it’s some trademarked phrase.

    Fricking morons

that's funny that he projected hard and didn't even phase through his mind that HIS POST is pure utter cope because he got pissed at what he looks like vs what someone who lifts looks like
this is something really insane to me, like how some people just don't realize how much of a joke they are
