Becoming 50% less efficient in your day-to-day life just to save 2 hours is not a very good idea. have a nice day promptly, I don't even know why I'm replying to a thread so stupid

4 to 5 hours of sleep won't make you 50% less effienct
Plus you get more awake time in the day. You really can't tell me that you need those extra 3 to 4 hours to drive to work, work a 9 to 5, drive home, and workout

Also cancer, reduced test levels, reduced life expectancy etc. Not sleeping is seriously a moronic thing to do. Which I partake in, but just because I'm a stupid child that can't just accept the reality of how a human being is supposed to exist.
If you really want to become more efficient, then master lucid dreaming or something like that.

if only it worked that way. I fricking hate sleeping. "wow let me just do fricking nothing for 7-8 hours every day for the rest of my life". But it is absolutely necessary for growth and well being. Sleeping that little would absolutely destroy you. Sucks bros... I wish I could sleep for 2 hours and it be equivalent to a full nights rest.

My friends who ignored sleeping developed, stomach, neurological issues, psychological issues and diabetes, because they needed tons of sugar and caffeine to stay awake. They achieved this feat by 25 and only a few recovered.

Nobody is saying to medicate yourself to stay awake. You can train your body to need less sleep, without drugs or health problems

        Wrong.
You can maybe get away with it up to 25 if you sacrifice your growth, but past that point it becomes harder and harder.
Having moved from a routine job to a more complex position I can outright tell you: you cannot do complex jobs successfully on little sleep. On top of all the bodily ills low sleep brings upon you, it gives you brainfog.
The millitary shit you watch with the 4-5 hours of sleep only works for really young people. That is why the millitary guys are drafted at a young age and past 30 the same degree of bodily torture doesn't work.
That video of the ukrainian troops getting their heads blown off by the russian guy ? The old guy was on so little sleep he couldn't understand giving his gun away could have saved his life.
That is what little sleep does. You can't make proper decisions especially in the nick of time.
Same reason why low sleep people are extremely aggressive early in the morning. To the point of starting fights over nothing.

4 hours of sleep is not little sleep. It's more than enough. Sure the younger you are the less impactful sleep is to you, yet at the same time 30yos don't need 8 hours either. Donald trump at 70 is rumored to have slept only 4 hours during his entire presidency. So please don't tell me you cannot make complex decisions when even the president only needs 4 hours.

Keep sleeping 8 hours and getting nothing done. You want to know why people are depressed? They don't have time to get themselves out of the wage slave cycle. They sleep 8 hours. Play video games. Go to the gym. Everything but actually making a life for themselves

Like I said already. The people around me who live that lifestyle are high on caffeine, sugary drinks or falling in a near coma state before going to sleep. They all have health issues related to it. From diabetes all the way to neurological issues.
American presidents are on so many drugs, you have no idea what is going on over there.

I will be a happy grandpa one day, enjoying my grandchildren and teaching them the ways of life, without being a burden on them. You will be a vegetable with permanent brainfog eventually evolving into dementia if you even reach that age.

Right so now you're destroying your body for fun, and you need 8 hours of sleep to compensate for it. Again that's a restrictive hobby. You gain nothing tangible from bjj and infact lou lose valuable time because it demands long recovery time.
So really. You can't even fall back on the argument that more sleep is better for you, because on the other hand here you are fighting for fun. Stop fighting, you need less sleep, you get more work done. Simple

BTW lots of NPCs have hobbies. Actually hobbies are for NPCs. Time sinks that make them feel valuable. A real person should have career goals and businesses as their hobby.

This is a nonargument that many apply to working out and being in shape.
Being in shape, like sleeping allows you a better quality of life and if not done in extremes - increases your lifespan.

                >Stop fighting, you need less sleep, you get more work done. Simple
I've been there. Buried 3 years of low sleep to an ungrateful employer and all I got back was complaints for the inevitable mistakes that I did, while underslept and overworked, taking emergency night shifts to keep a work team from falling apart.

It makes sense only in a business that you run. Anywhere else you are cutting years off of your life for someone else with barely any reward.

Now I do not sacrifice my health for my employer, get to enjoy hobbies and get paid more for it.

Bjj isn't defending yourself. Plenty of bjj people get killed because they think they know how to fight but bjj doesn't work against guns, knives, or anybody not playing your sport

Sounds like you used your excess time playing catch up and not getting ahead. Unfortunate. If you were truly valuable it would have worked out, as employers recognize hard workers with the most output.

Now it sounds like you're just sleeping because you're looking for a purpose and bjj is that new thing in your life. Unfortunate. Soon you'll have a broken body and a poor career.

There are lots of mid 20's permavirgins out there who watch hustle culture videos on YouTube and think they'll ever succeed at anything because they sleep 4 hours a night when in reality they're genetic trash lol

                >you gain nothing from your hobby, it's just a waste of time especially when you have to sleep more because of it
                >what is health?
                >anyway dude you need to be doing a REAL hobby like working
                lmao
You definitely work at a gas station or not at all and will never marry a virgin

      >puking because you got 5 hours of sleep
      Wow. That's pathetic

It will make you 70% less effecient, unless you mean blue collar work.

Lmao 70% less efficient. Nice numbers. Youre basically saying you cannot operate a computer on 4 hours of sleep

You need 7-9 hours of sleep. There is no way around this. I don't care about how you "feel" You arent unique and special. Humans need that range of sleep. They need it every day for their entire life. Every time you don't sleep well, you are doing yourself a disservice. And really, 7 hours isn't great and shouldn't be done more than once or twice a week. 8 hours is what you need.

      >7 hours isn't enough but 8 is
1 hour of sleep isn't much of a difference. Sleep has diminishing returns the longer you sleep.

People who dislike sleep, do you guys just not dream? I don't get it. My dreams are dope as hell and the main reason I love sleep

Maybe they don’t dream of remember their dreams. THC consumption within 4-6 hours of sleep can frick with the REM cycles.

When I am healthy my dreams are amazing, creative and life-affirming. When I am depressed or over-trained I typically think about the worst episodes of my life on loop, like my oneitis I was too weak to conquer, when I quit playing sports in high school because I was not mentally tough enough, etc.

Sleeping less will quite literally kill you. We need more research to figure out drugs that can emulate supersleepers (people who can sleep far less and get the same amount of rest). There are untested peptide supplements you can snort for this.

You are in IST, IST is less productive than sleeping

The value of 4-5 hours more in the day doesn't outweigh the value of 4-5 of sleep.

I fricking wish I could cut back on my sleep at least a little bit. I sleep for 10 hours a day and feel like groggy shit, but I feel tired as frick if I get even a little less sleep (although, I'll actually feel better generally, just tired). Dunno if it's sleep apnea, or some other sleep problem. But losing an additional 2 hours per day on top of the recommended amount of sleep (that is, 8 hours) really fricks up how much I can get done during the day. If I could just get an extra two hours to dedicate to my workout, then have the rest of the day to do whatever I want, it would make things so much nicer..

Same, I also sleep very late and stay in bed more because it's easier to use your imagination in that state, drifting to and from sleep, and I imagine I've got a gf. I know it reads like bait but I wish it was, I spend more than an hour combined before sleeping and after waking up, imagining I'm with a woman.

It's very rude to ask people their salary. It doesn't tell you a thing about them.

This kind of thinking is what keeps people uninformed and poor. If men knew how much others around them were making it might motivate them to actually improve themselves.

chronic stomach problems and general health is much better after learning about Sarno and TMS, but sometimes I still wake up at 3.30am with stomach pain. When this happens I feel slightly tires all day, then hit a weird zone about 5pm where I get a second wind and my face glows like im fasting. Im thinking there is sort of low level stress=overcompensatory anti-inflammatory process that is beneficial, the same way occaisional fasting or other means of simulating starvation can be health promoting.

Like these other stressors, there is probably an ideal level of sleep deprivation that promotes health, and too much is probably worse than none. You never hear about how fasting increases your risk for gallbladder disease and terminal conditions like ALS, but once a month wont do any harm. Thanks for reading, my poo is crimped and the rim is rusty atm so bye bye.
