is starting strength even worth it?

As the title says I've been running starting strength for about a month and ive seen progress on the big lifts I'm scared I'm gonna end up looking like a pear by the end. I plan on running the program for 6 months because
>muh get strong first
Is this the right approach? I don't care for strength I just wanna look good but also be strong at the same time I guess you know?

Stop worrying and just get a fat ass. You're overthinking it

    It's a great beginner program.
Add on some curls, a triceps extension variation and a pullup variation (this might already be in).
When shit gets heavy, in stead of lmao add 5lbs and fold over 5 times in a row in the rack, consider going to technical failure only.

    >Is this the right approach?
No learning how to lift, getting proficient at the movement patterns, building some muscle mass, doing cardio and learning basic nutrition is. Starting strength is a shit beginner routine. Last thing you should have beginners doing is going to failure every workout with compound exercises when they don't know form and how to brae correctly.

      brace*

      >doesn't know what SS actually is then shits on it
It instructs you to start with the bar and add 5lbs each session, 95lbs with deadlifts to get the correct height.
That is weeks of what equals to technical training only for most post puberty males before anything gets challenging.
I am sure it tells you to brace as well kek.
It's a great beginner routine, because it's sink or swim. People with terrible coordination and body-unawareness gets rekt, everyone else jump starts their lifting career with solid foundational knowledge. Not for everyone, but it's simple and ingrains the concept of progressive overload in a simple manner into the head of a noob with the classic compound lifts. That is why it's great.

        >guy has the strength to start out squatting 2pl8
        >start with just the bar and add 5lbs each session spending 15 weeks doing non challenging squats
Sharting strength is terrible for beginners
        >I am sure it tells you to brace as well kek.
I can tell you to lift 600lb doesn't mean you can.
        >gets rekt
Yeah injurying beginners is the sign of a good program.

          >guy has the strength to start out squatting 2pl8
Yeah, maybe some fat farm kid. Chances are that squat is going to look like a spastic mess regardless.
As a complete beginner what you CAN do and what gives a training stimulus are miles apart. A completely sedentary person will have DOMS from doing bodyweight squats.
That guy you are referencing should unironically start at 1pl while getting the form right and just adding weight. Exactly how SS works essentially, strange isn't it? A few extra weeks spent lifting lighter with emphasis on form is 100% of the time worth learning bad form with heavy weight, and then spending a much longer time unlearning that form and/or dealing with injuries.

          >>guy has the strength to start out squatting 2pl8
Wow, starting strength isn't tailored for 0.0000001% of people who can rep 2pl8 squats on their first day in the gym, and is instead tailored for the 99.9999999% of people who start out weak as hell? What a shit program!

Its alright for begginers, but you really want more accessory lifts, and not to do GOMAD or just eat random shit/not care about calorie to protein content like that dude did

Then switch programs? I don't see the problem.
Also I feel ripped off because I didn't SS for the first 6 months of lifting and I never got a fat ass.

It works to build strength quickly but you should cut after because you'll likely be at least 20% bodyfat after

Yes, but I think you should do it for at least 1 year instead of 6 months.

just eat decent nutrient&vitamin amount, walk/bike/run more, do any exercise sets that exhausts any muscle group, ideally less arm bulking if wamen, don't bother with 10-rep andy do more reps, bs you aren't going for a medal, it's safer too.

the rest is just to get your money, you don't even need a jim, and has nothing to do with anything

I haven't really ever done "the program", but I like doing 3×5 and 5×5 linear progressions. Just don't be a fatass and also do a lot of weighted dips, pullups and chinups to balance out the squats. Girls love man ass as well as arms and shoulders though, just saiyan.
