                >The intervention group had significant reduction in serum cholesterol compared with controls (mean change from baseline −13.8% v −1.0%; P<0.001). Kaplan Meier graphs showed no mortality benefit for the intervention group in the full randomized cohort or for any prespecified subgroup. There was a 22% higher risk of death for each 30 mg/dL (0.78 mmol/L) reduction in serum cholesterol in covariate adjusted Cox regression models (hazard ratio 1.22, 95% confidence interval 1.14 to 1.32; P<0.001). There was no evidence of benefit in the intervention group for coronary atherosclerosis or myocardial infarcts.

For years, dietary cholesterol was implicated in increasing blood cholesterol levels leading to the elevated risk of CVD. To date, extensive research did not show evidence to support a role of dietary cholesterol in the development of CVD. As a result, the 2015–2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans removed the recommendations of restricting dietary cholesterol to 300 mg/day

I can't PROVE dietary cholesterol doesn't cause heart disease because its impossible to prove a negative, but I've posted multiple studies that have failed to find a link between the two.
All you need to do is post one study that finds a link between dietary cholesterol and heart disease, a link that cannot be explained by confounding factors.
You cant do it because such a study doesn't exist.

I just don't see why you keep posting studies with irrelevant metrics and methods and then put the blame on whatever anon you are arguing with to prove their point. You re attempting to prove a point and all you have shown is that you need to manipulate methods to get the results you want to show. If you were trying to prove the loch ness monster existed and then provided faked fossils or doctored photos, its not up to the skeptic to endure an expedition to satisfy his skepticism.

                >You re attempting to prove a point
But I'm not. The other anon claimed that dietary cholesterol causes atherosclerosis.
There is no evidence to support this position.
                >If you were trying to prove the loch ness monster existed and then provided faked fossils or doctored photos, its not up to the skeptic to endure an expedition to satisfy his skepticism
In this metaphor, the other anon is the one claiming the loch Ness monster exists. He is making the positive claim, that X causes Y. The burden of proof is on him.
Post just one piece of evidence that dietary cholesterol causes atherosclerosis. Just one single study.
You're a gigantic gay who doesn't understand falsifiability, empiricism, or the scientific method.

You are posting studies to debunk that anon, and the studies do not debunk the claim. A skeptic has to provide no proof, you have to prove to him your point is correct. The traditional narrative is that cholesterol which is dietary increases blood cholesterol and thus caused problems. You have given no reason to doubt this, and you have provided studies which use manipulated data and methods to prove your point

What is the evidence that supports the traditional narrative?
                >and you have provided studies which use manipulated data and methods to prove your point
LMAO OK so anything that actually shows dietary cholesterol doesn't increase the risk of atherosclerosis must be manipulated somehow.

You/the other anon have not debunked the studies that I've posted, you've simply said "those don't count, those aren't valid", you've not justified your dismissal of contrary evidence in any way.

                I'll ask again.
What kind of evidence would you accept? What would be a valid form of evidence against the dietary cholesterol hypothesis for atherosclerosis/CVD?
Tell me what kind of evidence you would accept, and I will produce it.

I grew some sweet potatoes this year, and it was the most fulfilling thing I've done outside in ages. Getting to eat your own food is so satisfying because you know that it's completely organic and grown with TLC. Potatoes will also be the first thing to go when food shortages hit, because they're such a staple and so difficult to grow compared to seed crops (you are completely fucked for potatoes if you don't have slips.) Going to invest in an overwinter setup so I can grow them all year long.

To your credit, I phrased things in a semi-confusing way. The point I'm trying to make is that they are going to be hard to RENEW once SHTF, because of the aforementioned problems of not growing from seed and being a nutritious staple crop high in calories... Not that they're hard to grow per se.

If you bake potatoes and then stick 'em in the fridge overnight, you'll nearly double the amount of resistant starches present in them. This is very good for gut health.

This works even better with sweet potatoes.

False. It works hardly at all with sweet potatoes

Starch retrogradation happens in sweet potato. The starch granules in sweet potatoes are absolutely suitable for forming resistant starch.

Maybe. But then you have to deal with the inferior taste and flexibility associated with sweet potatoes.

    >vitamin c
You do know that as soon as you cook it, it gets absolutely destroyed. Right? Saying potatoes have vit c is stupid and rwtarded simply because of how volatile vitamin c is

The amount of vitamin C in the USDA database for potatoes reflects a 50% decrease in C from boiling. There is still plenty of it

    Take the Irish peasant pill
    >5 kilos of potato a day
    >buttermilk
    >dried herrings
    What else do you need?

    >The potato is the most versatile food known to man. Modern dietary analysis suggests that the Irishman's gargantuan meals of potatoes and buttermilk provided all the proteins, calories and minerals he needed. Table 1.3, based on a comparison of the typical labourers' diet in 1839 with a modern Canadian estimate of dietary requirements, makes the point. In strictly nutritional terms the simple Irish fare was fine, being deficient only in vitamins A and D. A boon of the humble potato was that it shielded the Irish poor from afflictions such as scurvy - 'the very rarest of diseases in Ireland' [Crawford, 1984, 155] - and xerophthalmia. Pellagra, too, endemie long after in those parts of the southern United States and Europe in which maize was the staple, was rare in Ireland. The most careful assessment to date of Irish diets on the eve of the Famine suggests that they were 'excellent, not merely when measured by "recommended daily intake" of the nutritionist, but also when set against the historical reality ofthe later nineteenth century' [Clarkson and Crawford, 1988, 191].

      >over 1kg carbs
      >4720kcal
      Jesus what the fuck.
Did the Irish do super bulk competitions? That's completely nuts considering the amount of work they need to perform to not get fat. We really live in luxurious times.

Peasantry were doing manual labor from sun up to sun down just to fucking eat. I was reading about the French peasantry of the late 18th century/early 19th and they were chronically malnourished. For example, being 5 foot tall was considered the minimum required to handle a musket properly - and during the mass conscriptions for Napoleon's armies, fully a quarter of conscripts were rejected for being too short. They barely ate any animal protein and just couldn't get enough calories.

    I am the dumb.
I store my potatoes in the lower part of my fridge, which is slightly warmer than the upper half. It doesn't take long for the potatoes to start growing stalks or sprouts or whatever it's called.
Am i doing it wrong? Are the potatoes still good? I've heard it can alter the calories in them, is that what's happening?

How the fuck are the potatoes in your fridge sprouting? Is it broken?

Well no, but it is older than i am, and i'm 30. It still works but it's probably not as cool as it should be, and the lower half is supposed to be warmer.
I'm going to buy a new one, but i'm going to renovate the house before that.

I'm not going to read this thread because it's undoubtedly full of ketoschizos, dyels, people who don't even cook or prepare their own food from whole ingredients. Potatoes are God's perfect companion to meat. They are literally portable, long lasting, easy to grow in large amounts, tasty, nutritious, versatile.

Anyone who disagrees must post body. Actually don't bother, I will not be reading responses.

Ketoschizo is one person. He's the deranged schizophrenic who calls everyone who disagrees with him a vegan and spams the board 16 hours per day.
