the leading causes of heart disease are the same as those of obesity, i.e eating too much and physical inactivity, and alcohol.

you're more likely to eat too many calories when you're eating meat because it's calorie dense, correlation isn't causation.

guess what causes that as well? the same factors as obesity, same goes for every other chronic disease, even cancer largely has the same causes as obesity on top of obesity also causing cancer.

        >you're more likely to eat too many calories when you're eating meat because it's calorie dense

nope. meat fills you up and keep you full for long cause of the protein content and fats. processed foods is what is calorie dense and not high in protein

normal people don't stop eating when they're full.

normal doesn't mean neutral, normal people have very poor eating habits, are too fat, and don't stop eating after they're full because their hormonal response is completely washed.

are you arguing that meat is the cause of obesity?

no, this goes for all calorie dense foods, many of our staples such as potatoes, dairy, etc, are also very calorie dense, so whenever they test these hypothesizes it looks like these foods cause them to be fat because it's extremely easy to overeat, it's not that easy to overeat when you're not eating any meat or processed foods (most meats we consume are processed btw)

largely because we shifted from manual labor type jobs to desk jobs, it's not what you do in your free time that matters when most of your time spend throughout the week isn't free.

if you look at a map of testosterone levels you'll see that the countries with the highest are those that still work physical jobs under the sun.

landscapers for example burn like two or three times as many calories throughout the day as someone of equal size that works a desk job, they're unlikely to ever get morbidly obese, although they are chubby sometimes.

The explosion of obesity at least in the US also coincides with the exercise revolution. The idea that in 1970 everybody exercised 12 hours a day and thats why we weren't obese is a fantasy

machines weren't that good yet at that point, they still had to stand along a rolling band which still burns a lot more calories than sitting at a desk and pushing paper.

but processed food has become a lot more accessible, and most of it is animal based at least to an extend, or some high calorie starch such as potato or corn.

obesity levels aren't that much higher in poor demographics as they are in the rich outside of america, this is a meme that americans keep bringing up that doesn't really apply to the rest of the world, there's some difference but it's not 'huge' by any means.

                Not convincing
                >Since 1980, obesity prevalence among US adults has soared from 14% to 42%. The commonly accepted explanation is pervasive overeating: ever-increasing energy intake as the population gains weight, year after year. However, evidence does not support this hypothesis. National data on energy intake and energy availability show increases between 1961 and 2000, during modern industrialization of food; but a plateau or declines thereafter-even as obesity continued rising-and while physical activity modestly increased. Thus, Americans appear to be eating relatively less since 2000, for ever-increasing body sizes, as time has progressed.

this might also be a case of correlation instead of causation, because the races that have the most obesity are also largely lactose intolerant, and the countries with the highest dairy consumption are also tall as frick with a good infrastructure which makes them less likely to be fat.

if your claim was true we would see. theres litterally hundreds of meta analysis on the topic, and nearly all of them show dairy to be beneficial in diets, in terms of weight management, in weight loss, and a few on how it improves muscle gain in lifters.

your claim about dairy being a part of the obesity issue is not backed by anything.

obesity only has a single cause, and that's consistently eating more food than your body needs, you don't need to analyse whether it's easier to reach that point by consuming foods that are higher in calories dummy.

anything can cause obesity if you eat enough of it and just don't move.

completely unrelated topic, when talking about a population of people we see general behaviours. and when we look at behaviours of people who eat and drink dairy we see less obesity issues.

and products made from waste meat, that's why pacific islanders are so fat, their diet consists mostly out of spam and the kind of vacuum packed sausages that are still edible after a half year trip on a boat at sea.

processed meat is incredibly fattening, and most meat people eat is processed.

hence why your example of pacific islanders are some of the fattest people on the planet, they eat a lot of it because nothing else survives the trip to their islands.

their diet pre-colonial era was 60-78 percent carbohydrates, 10-15 percent protein and 7-30 percent fat and they weren't obese back then despite almost entirely eating carbs.

It's hard to get to fiji, hawaii or new zealand?

they raise their own meat on new zealand, many of these smaller most obese islands are pretty desolate in terms of livestock productive capacity, most of their food is brought in by boat so it has to be the kind that stays 'edible' for extended periods of time.

most islands are like this, even the grocery stores on greek islands are filled with this kind of shit.

we could also say that dairy is not that high in carbs and is low in pufas, therefore there's no reason for it to be obesogenic, but that might make some people upset since there might be some implications regarding insulin signalling in there
