      Is there a benefit of doing 5x5 with a 45 vs 3x12 with like 2 10s

    >heavy weighted chinups
You are either a beast or a dyel,no in between.
Because people in between are doing sets of 6-15 reps,if you look like shit and can do like 20 try recording a video and seeing your shit form and small ROM.

Great advice. Chin-ups have a deceptively large rom and it’s easy to cheat without noticing. The same advice extends to dips as well.

They are good, but they work better for heavier guys because its more overall weight being pulled.
Most people dont do them though because the set up time investment is longer, and especially if theres no where good to do them at the gym. Most big guys opt for the lat pulldown instead because its easier access and better isolation of the lats.

Yeah but you look way fricking cooler doing weighted chins.

Weighted chinups give you more bicep and a little bit more grip than lat pulldowns.

I do weighted pullups in one of my gyms racks since they all have a bar going across the top thats perfect for them. So after I'm done with squats, I just dump the bar to the floor and do my pullups right then and there.

Much better than those awful setups where the only place to do pullups is inbetween the cable crossovers, making it a huge pain in the ass to get in there.

Another good strategy is using a smith machine set to the appropriate height. Just make sure to put some weight on the smith bar or it'll be so light you unrack it just from your own momentum

Everyone who lifts and strength trains should be strong enough to do weighted pull ups for at least a few reps. If you get so big you can barely do 1-3 body weight pull ups that’s shameful

    >benefit
    Doomslayer biceps
    >cost
Possibly fuarked elbows but you should be ok if you balance with enough tricep work

I did 6 chins yesterday. then 5, then could only do 3. How do I get to 10? aside from weight loss, I dont know how to program.

Negatives are the key. When you get to the very top slowly come down to where your elbows are atv90 degrees then hold as long as you can

Do they offer any benefits over normal pull-ups? In terms of muscle gain I mean, I’ve gotten my pull-ups solid with dead hangs and pauses at the top for 10 reps and I’m lats are exploding, should I just stick to regular and try and get to 20 or is doing weighted for lower reps gonna blow my back up more?

Weighted will blow you up. And it looks more impressive

      >pull-ups

      Are a vertical lat compound

      >chin-ups

Bicep compound. And technically the only bicep compound lift. They are distinct when it comes to programming.

I was going to make a follow up post clarifying I only do overhand pull-ups

Weighted will blow you up. And it looks more impressive

Should you use heavy weights? I’ve done them before but when with shitty form, should I start with like 25 pounds or jump right into 45?

I treat them just like I would any other heavy compound lift. High intensity, low reps, make sure to warm up, proper rest time between sets. I do +75lbs 3x5 at 200lbs bodyweight.

Just make sure to not cheat yourself and keep a full range of motion.

        > Only bicep compound lift.

Wtf do you think Cheat Curls are? Lmao this moron thinks you do it with your biceps, hahahahahahahahahahahawfaswgfdsgasga.

You support your pulling up with your biceps but you pull mostly with your lats.

Curls don’t recruit enough to be compounds

Then you aren't doing heavy enough cheat curls.

Or you could just do weighted chins that activate the rectus abdominal and lats for the better compound movement

You can do your weighted chin ups just keep them to 20-30kg max.

Just started doing chin-ups a few days ago, love doing these little frickers because I'm the only one at my gym that can do it, people were miring me the other day and saying it's a badass exercise.
How good are they compared to pull-ups? I probably should start learning pull-ups aswell, but like an anon said above, they do seem to work biceps way more while pull-ups I believe are more lats focused? But since I've started doing chin-ups my biceps are literally exploding in size and I'm way sore from it than just normal bicep curls.

it feels cool to do 200% of your BW for reps but i feel like im not gonna be able to wipe my ass in 20 years. idk what u lift for, if ure not autistic like me and dont go only for strength gains then just stick to lightweight like +40kg max
    t. weighted puller for 10 years
