Yeah, school. Where you're meant to socialize and emotionally come into your own.

School is a day care-(with room for indoctrination)
Even if it's not a public or bad school you don't develop properly through involuntarily Action environments & social interactions

It's only that way because it's enforced
Things aren't necessarily meant to be that way
I value education a lot btw more than almost anything but not the way it's done now generally

Stamping your feet and demanding life occur on your terms won't make you better with people.

Is there a gym for personality?

I firmly believe after going through this journey myself that being a stone-faced high inhibition generic looking person is not normal or natural and is caused by some form of social trauma and failure to properly incorporate the self/the unconscious/the shadow. I was like this because at my root I was deeply afraid; afraid to express, afraid to share, afraid to let loose. I was terrified of the world and others and withdrew into my mind as a coping mechanism, becoming hollow as a result; I spent years and years like this. The day I realized it was a pathology and I didn't need to be like that forever was like coming out of a never ending nightmare/fugue. What a surprise I lost my virginity that same year as well, accomplished more than I ever had before in my life, and was far happier as well

The gym presents some good opportunities, unironically.
Start forcing small talk on the reception staff and personal trainers, be willing to spot and receptive to being spotted, and just say hi to people if you cross paths and make eye contact.

You introduce yourself and shake their hand if they're someone you see on regular basis, or you leave it at hello if it's someone you haven't seen around.
Don't try to lead conversations if you are socially inept, but get the feel for asking basic questions.
Reflect and learn from each experience.

The past is the past; let it go.
But you don't need a time machine to stop being an avoidant homosexual with an unwarranted superiority complex NOW, now do you?

    >Is there a gym for personality?
Actually a great question. There's not. Its just alot of trial and error. As the anon stated earlier, its about talking to everyone you can. And noticing people good at it, and learning why they're good at it.

I didn't really get good until I had to attend a ton of receptions for my job, and interact to get work done. What I learned was to have a list of people to definitely talk to, ask questions, and have a goal for the conversation. After years of this, I can pretty much walk into any social situation and talk to anyone I don't know.

    Its really all practice.
