There’s only something wrong if you do cheat reps or don’t try your hardest

no you can get a legit workout with machines. nothing wrong with it but the lack of barbells will always be a point of contention against planet fitness

I’m assuming the squat racks and benches are upstairs?

The squat racks and benches in mine are all on the same floor. The squat rack is the same as the bench you can just move the bench. It's all smith machines.

A gym without barbells and some heavy weights are just a place for fat fricks to get into their new year's resolution only to drop after a few months.

The PF model is about having the largest membership base with the fewest people actually using the equipment. It's pretty brilliant, making a chain of gyms for people who don't train seriously and keeping it so cheap that 90% of members who stop going stay enrolled since it's less than their Netflix costs per month.
Basically, it's where DYEL new lifters and "New Years resolutionists" go for 30 days and then either stop working out, or, find a gym that doesn't suck.

Absolutely this. Even if I don't go to PF, I am grateful they exist so I can go to a real gym in relative peace for the first two weeks of January.

I worked out there until the 75lb dumbbells were too light for me then I upgraded to eos where I can bench 120lb dumbbells now

If your just starting out and its a convenient location its fine for starting out.
Just remember, cancel your membership before you move. You can't do it online or over the phone, only at a planet fitness location.

    Duh why me get fat.

    Planet Fatness is amusing.

I don't even go there and them serving junk food makes me seethe.
      >b-but one pizza day a month won't make you fat
That's not the point. A place people go to lose weight shouldn't be serving food that makes them gain weight.

Heavy for a dumbell yes, heavy for a weight?
Heck no, what a stupid gym.

Next they'll ban you for too many muscles at this rate.

    beware
I listen to soundboard prank calls, and in one call that was made to a gay chat line, the victim was a planet fitness employee. He was talking about buttfricking guys in the locker room.

everyone knows PF isn’t a real gym. as evident in OPicrel, it’s like 90% treadmill with the rest being actual weights. And their commercials, despite their “no critic” slogan, specifically criticizes fit people. If you can manage to find a use for it then good for you, but if you’re genuinely serious about the gym life, then eventually you’ll go somewhere else. Apparently PF also makes it a hassle to cancel their membership too?
