Is this food based?

I always avoided yoghurt because I assumed it was a food for women and homosexuals. I tried this the other day though and it was pretty good. They have some plain ones with less sugar and it's a lot of protein per cal. What is the IST opinion on this food?

Yoghurt is just processed milk with bacteria cultures that's been heavily filtered which is why it's high in protein. Similar idea with whey, but the process of making both are slightly different, but both come from milk.

      Anonymous

After culturing your yogurt you can eat it as is or make a higher concentration greek style yogurt by draining with cheesecloth/muslin for a few hours. What is drained out is a liquid whey, called acid whey, which is very sour.

When making cheese after you culture and coagulate with rennet, the liquid cooked off the cheese curds is a sweet tasting "sweet whey" which you can freeze or drink as is for a whey protein drink or process further to make whey powder.

You can dump yogurt into a tight woven rag and hang it over a bowl for a night. In the morning you'll have cultured cream cheese up top and whey in the bowl.

Plain should never have any sugar. You can use it like sour cream, or eat it plain, or add jam or granola or maple syrup if you want dessert. Yogourt is good news, icelandic or greek more so.

yogurt is unironically my favorite protein choice of all time so far, my second is protein powder. I only happen to eat chicken breast the most cuz of convenience (hard to take dairy to lunch)

I come from a culinary family so being the fat frick I was I am burdened to know when a meal sucks ass. With yogurt 0%-5% mind you, depending on if you need calories or not, can serve as an ingredient, main dish, side, dessert or appetizer, and can also be used as savory or sweet.

If you don't believe me for savory, consider adding some garlic/onion and some other spices to LIGHT bit of yogurt, adding a single or few pieces of a creamy cheese as well, and then eating it on tortilla or chips or anything. That's just an example of course I know many more, including making a higher volume peanut butter for people who like that.

With that being said, when I was first eating NONFAT PLAIN GREEK YOGURT specifically, I literally had to plug my nose and was brought to tears consuming it, that's how bad it was to me. I now eat it plain out of the container, and it actually became a binge food for me for a minute.

On the ingredient side, consider that I also use protein powder to make pancakes, treats, etc. And the only 2 other ingredients next to Pro-Powder are Egg Whites, and Yogurt, and possibly applesauce (but it's good to use butter instead of Applesauce, fat is good for you, learned that the hard way)

The problem with it? It makes many people bloated, and the probiotics make people fart heinously, with that said, my chad nordgenes defeated my chad latinogenes on the dairy roll, so I can eat it freely (with mild bloat, but idgaf)

I’m into the Oikos Pro yogurt lately… easily has the best macros out of any other yogurt, including skyr. 25g protein per serving in exchange for absolutely minimal fats. The only thing is, it’s “ultra filtered.” What the frick does that mean, guys? Extra estrogen???

you gotta mix kinda hard, water/milk works though it doesn't need it, I dont use it

Have this with a cup of black coffee for breakfast every damn day, occasionally have a hard boiled egg or something. Usually run 2-4 miles beforehand and in the evening after work I lift. Feels fricking amazing. Only issue is if I don’t do something right when I first get up I can feel somewhat bloated, but even then it’s not for longer than an hour or so. Greek yogurt and other similar cultures dairy products are based, I feel bad for non-Euros that can’t enjoy them.

Tesco used to price match aldi for the 450g tubs but stopped recently. They tend to sell out very fast because they are much nicer than most other brands of Skyr. I'm a haggis Black person so maybe my local Aldis get more regular supplies.
