They're treating the future diets of humanity as an investment opportunity and the only way to secure the rights to such a future is by outlawing the proper human diet.

There is a huge variation in animal meat nutrition depending on what the animal was fed, the industrial ag lobbies the usda to maintain an official position that food is food regardless of origin. It's corrupt and wrong. Where your food comes from and how it's produced has an outsized impact on the nutritional density of the resulting product.
