Its a global problem, but the USA is normally well-positioned to weather these kinds of things fairly well because of how fricking huge and resource rich the country is. Burgers blaming Biden is 100% understandable considering his administration hamstrung domestic oil production and printed 80% of the dollars in circulation.
When your administration takes Diesel from $2.50 to $6.50 a gallon in a country this big, where everything is moved to grocery stores on 18-wheeler trucks, its reasonable to blame you for price hikes. Ditto for injecting a shitton more money into the economy while nobody was working, undercutting the mid to long term value of consumers' money for short term stimulus- ie. Austrian school inflation 101.

In bongland ~~*they*~~ keep blaming it on Brexit, despite it being a continent wide problem. The problem in Europe is clearly because we get so much of our gas & oil from Russia, which has recently all been shut off, it's annoying that nothing is being done about it, but it's understandable. The US however doesn't have this problem, yet prices are STILL going up, which makes absolutely no sense. Your corporations are also still making larger and larger profits, but if production costs more now, that wouldn't be the case.

oil is a globally traded commodity, which means that a supply shortage will increase prices and thus will encourage supply to the areas affected.

Why would you sell a product for $10 when you can sell it to someone else for $15.

There is a reason China dares not frick with USA at more than troll levels.
It's all very much interconnected at this point.
          1. China gets over 20% of its food from USA
          2. The majority of countries outside of USA they get food from also get food from USA and to frick with us would start a chain reaction of us canceling foreign food exports that would effectively kill off the majority of the worlds population.
          3. We buy Chinese gadgets.
          4. China is in a major recession if not full economic depression. (Chinese real estate crashed no survivors in December, it made up 20-30% of its GDP).
All of these things now change how x, y, and z countries have to play the game. Which changes x1, y1, and z1. Continue effectively forever.

There is no such thing as a country not affected when we are taking countries that deal almost exclusively in foreign trade.
Add on top of that Biden being a fricking moron and canceling key projects made to increase US oil based gas prices and effectively USA is hit a lot harder.
The more hands in the cookie jar the harder it is to get them all out when mommy walks in the room.

This. Also oil prices are largely futures-based, so it isn't so much about whats being drilled out today as it is about where investors see supply and demand going. Shutting down drilling prospects in the US sent a signal to energy companies that oil is going to get a lot more expensive to access in the near future, so they're raising prices now in order to make as much money as they can off of current operations.
            [...]
This anon gets it. Lifting capital controls was the biggest mistake this country ever made and we've been paying for it for 40 years, most of us completely oblivious to the fact that they ever existed.

Nobody is arguing that CBs & IFIs aren't fricky and that QE and zirp haven't screwed the long term health of the US economy, but raising them in this context is misdirection. We've literally printed more money for covid stimulus in 2 years that we've spent on QE since 2008. And iirc we were running at near zero interest rates from 2008 to 2015 while inflation stayed around the 2% target. So if you genuinely want to explain how these things are causing our current malaise I'm all ears, but don't drop econ acronyms expecting to shut down a comversation.

                Anonymous

We were at 5% in '06-'08 so when we went to alleviate the recession in '08 we were able to reduce interest to near zero to promote spending/loans.
What got us here is that we have stayed at 0% for so long even after a very short stint to 2%. Also, if we didn't continue printing the same amount of money over the past 2 years (that we were forced to print to bail out everyone 2 years ago) all while keeping interest at 0% for past two years, things would be a whole different situation. Hence the panic now why interest rates are rising during a crisis.
We can't climb fast enough out of that hole even if we were hanging onto the rope, if we don't stop digging at a lightspeed pace.

                Anonymous

So you're saying if we had higher interest rates during the money printing it would have helped stave off inflation by encouraging saving instead of spending, basically spreading out the stimulus's enrty into the circulating money supply over a longer period of time? If I understand you right, then that makes sense, and is definitely one piece of the puzzle that (nominally at least) can't be entirely lain at the feet of the executive.
So then why not raise rates now if inflation is ramping up?

Target has a 2lb container for $22. That actually doesn't seem that bad.

    Two things:

    1) camelcamelcamel will email you when the price drops, so you won't have to constantly check for deals

    2) found this by accident, not sure how well it will work all the time: I bought a 5lb ON chocolate whey, but Amazon sent vanilla. I emailed them for a refund and they refunded me but let me keep the whey. Use that how you will.

      >tfw just bought a 5lbs container of this on Amazon for $42 in a flash sale
      :^)

5kg, expiry date 2024, £72, for some reason they sent it to amsterdam via fed ex air then back to london, idk what the frick was going on.

Do you just search for 'whey' in the grocery outlet part?

I stopped using whey and tracking my protein intake completely and I think I am still getting leaner. What do!?

    180lbs 6ft

    ~1500cals/day
    ~95g protein

    18g - eggs
    6g -bacon
    20g -2% milk
    50g - steak

I don't mind living a minimalist lifestyle being poor and having to do without some things but I dont want it to affect my gains

Bro your getting leaner is not due to not using whey

lucky digits but my concern is that I'm not getting the recommended 1g/lb of protein a day

Im 14%bf at 180lbs so Im getting just a little more than half of what's recommended

Im worried that will eventually kill my gains, not make me leaner but I have ironically been getting leaner over the last month that prices went up and I stopped buying whey

Protein should be the nutrient you prioritise, and yeah you're not getting nearly enough. Aim for 0.8g/lb of BF.

Bacon, Steak, 2% milk are all high cal, instead go for turkey bacon, chicken and turkey breast, skimmed milk

Good advice, Ill get some deenz too. Keep the digits cumming
