      Your body doesn’t know or care what numbers are written on the plate. Your body only responds to stimulus if it’s close enough to muscular failure, regardless if it’s 50 pounds or 500 pounds. It doesn’t matter if it’s 5 reps or 30. Going to, or very near failure is all that matters for hypertrophy.

    I fricking stalled at 100lbs (yes I'm a skelly) and can't fricking get it higher. I did 105 for one workout and had to deload to 95 the next. my bench is still steadily going up but I've deloaded like 3 times for OHP already and every time I get back up to 100lbs I just can't. I'm tempted to replace it with something else and just come back in a few months once I've gained more size.

      How many reps? Switch to 8-10 if you’re doing 5, erring closer to 10. Then drop the weight by 25% and do a burnout set after your final set. I got mine up to 165 for a single like this.

      Smaller muscle groups respond better to lower weight higher volume. Plus the shoulder is a delicate joint.

      Consider this, on bench press you have the large pectoral muscles along with the triceps and front delts moving the weight, on ohp you only have the front delts and triceps moving the weight.
      Therefore if your ohp is stalling the problem is in the delts and triceps and you should (insert answer here)

        Never had shoulder issues with these. Worst injury I had was the knurling chafing my neck like sandpaper. If you can, use a barbell without center knurling.

        If you don't have the flexibility for them, just a a set or two as mobility work (slowly let it go deep, pause for several seconds, then push back up) with light weight or an empty bar after your regular OHP (or incline press) which will warm up and make those muscles more supple. Then slowly increase the weight.

    as the picture shows, it only really hits front delts and hardly any side delts. front delts already get hit a lot on most chest exercises.

    from a bodybuilding standpoint (and only from a bodybuilding standpoint) lateral raises targeting side delts are just more worth your time.
