ITT: post your bench press and your OHP. I’m trying to get a good idea of the ratio between a man’s bench and his overhead press. I’ll go first
>175lb bench, maybe 180
>120 OHP

>125 OHP
lol get mogged weak little boy
wooooowww ok mr strong Black person. Gimme a few days and I’ll mog you and ur mom
Oh btw, I bench 180 a few minutes ago and it wasn’t tough. I bet I could also bench 185. b***h
>225 bench
>135 ohp
Mine went up together pretty symmetrically
It's worse now because I've been on deficit keto for 4 months but, my all-time PRs are
175 strict press / 200 push press
285 flat bench
Officially testing both next week, but looking like 325 bench and 205 ohp
>275 bench
>135 OHP
I don't do OHP anymore but even repping 225 bench I was still struggling to do 135 OHP
Your numbers are similar to mine very frustrating the carry over didn't seem to exist.
>250lb bench
>140lb oh
There’s a reason the strength standard meme is 1/2/3/4. It’s harder to progress OHP since shoulders are smaller muscles than pecs
185lb bench x 7
125lb ohp x 7
>OHP 155
>Bench no idea last time i trained it was 165x5
150
150
Why yes, I lift for functional strength
homosexual incel
Best thing I've done for my ohp is bb behind the neck press, very light sets of 10-12 until it's easy and your shoulder mobility is up for it. Then slowly add weight, and do at least 1-2 good sets every session. The muscles are so small they need frequent work
did you experience any shoulder pain from this? My right shoulder gets a sharp pain with whatever grip I use, even with a snatch grip which is apparently easier on the shoulders
No, but I do have to roll my lats out real good before hand or they pull my scaps out of place
I went from the bar x10 to 135x10 in a week and my push press and ohp went up 30 and 20lbs respectively
>Best thing I've done for my ohp is bb behind the neck press
this
150% ROM
>110kg bench
>dont test ohp 1rm, but can 5x5 60kg comfortably
170lb OHP, 250lbs paused bench
I injured my pec but at my best I was at 505 bench with a 275 OHP. Now I can only bench reverse grip and can do 455 but have a 305 OHP now that I focus on overhead work.
>reverse grip
I swear I never knew this existed until a week ago, and now I seem to see this everyday.
Do you do reverse grip without a spotter?
200lb incline for 3x5
150lb strict OHP for 3x5
>235 bench
>135x1 strict/165x3 push press
Working on my clean and pressing more these days since I'm training for a fitness exam in a few months so bench hasn't moved much. I basically do C&J, but don't have the room to split jerk so I do a dip and press.
OHP = ⅔ bench
you're normal
>OHP = ⅔ bench
paused bench or tng?
2nd week at a gym, 145 bench 3RM and 95 ohp 3RM. No clue what my 1rm is for those but probably not much higher lol
does pressing assist bench gains?
No, if anything they slow each other down if you do it at the same time.
i legitimately have no idea if you're lying to me or not
doing them within 3 minutes of each other counts as a second set
you cannot refute this
105kg bench
65kg ohp
You can convert to burgers if you're that keen
Bench 1rm: 335
Ohp 1rm: 240
Bear in mind I weigh 270
And I'm old
OHP: 60 kg / 132 lbs
bench: 90 kg / 198 lbs
yes, i am DYEL
>210 bench
>135 ohp
At 155lbs, are my numbers ok kind anons?
280lb bench
I haven't 1 rep maxed ohp ever but if I were to estimate it'd be 150
>290 bench
>185 press
for fives
125kg and 75kg
Bench 415 lbs
OHP - who knows since it's an accessory lift that doesn't matter
>OHP - who knows since it's an accessory lift that doesn't matter
never going to make it
Honestly, everytime I've stopped ohp for a extended period while continuing to bench, I'm talking 9 months to a year of no ohp, I've only lost 5 to 10 percent of my previous weight
YOU ARE ALL THE OPPOSITE OF ME
220 OHP
220 BENCH PRESS
I don't have stoppers or spotters I lift alone at home gym and can't rely on putting tons of weight otherwise the roll of shame would crush my body at 300 lbs
Lad I've done the roll of shame at 345.
There are two ways to fail bench.
Catastrophically, as when your wrist snaps or a pec tears. No spotter will save you from this - they simply don't have the leverage to stop that bar from falling on you.
Second is exhaustion, as when you cannot finish a rep. A spotter will provide the aid necessary for your to rack the bar, but most of the work still comes from you. Without a spotter, you simply lower the bar to your chest and do the roll of shame. The rib cage is incredibly strong. There is no issue setting 400+ pounds on top of your ribcage and working your way out from under it. It's only a problem if you drop that weight from a height, allowing gravity to take it and frick you with it - in which case you're getting injured, spotter or no spotter.
So bench more. If you're worried about snapping your shit up and dropping it, then just don't do max work. You are not going to catastrophically fail doing work in your 4-6 rep range, and you can still progress this way so you don't sit at baby bench weight forever.
> 305 bench
> 190 ohp
Hoping to hit 3pl8 soon. Eased off ohp for now.
105kg - 5 x 5
40kg (2 x 20kg Dumbbells) - 8 x 4
I do Dumbbell OHP right after Bench
>215lb bench
>130lb ohp
almost there anons
That man seems to be very nice to his dog. He’s probably a great person.
i read once that most people press ~66% of their bench, and that's certainly true for me
125kg bench, 85kg press.
OHP: ~120lb
Bench: ~150lb
Someone please help my bench is so bad compared to my other lifts, squat and DL are both above 300lb but I can't bench worth frick
100kg OHP
150kg bench
325 bench, 205 OHP, both 5RM
Bench 305
OHP 155x8 (no maxxing 4me)
Bench 100kg
Ohp 64kg
225 bench
115 ohp
Bench 111/244
Ohp 72kg/158 strict
>190
>160
>250lbs bench
>160lbs ohp
>320 bench
>185 ohp
>82.5kg 3x5 bench
>52.5kg 3x5 ohp
> Bench press 155 with 2 second pause on each rep for 5 ez
> OHP 95lbs for 5 killing myself
I love and hate OHP, every time I even try 100lbs it’s impossible, go back to 95 lbs next time and get it done.
62kg press
88kg bench
2pl8 bench
1pl8 OHP
been a while since I tried though, do mainly calisthenics at home these days
I could do about 2/3 ohp of my bench
>Bench: 375
>OHP: 205
I have shoulder issues, though.
225x3 bench
155 strict ohp
185 power clean and push press
>wife bothers me to go to her crossshit gym last weekend
>haven't done power cleans since uni
>heaviest I got up was 375(in uni)
>go to her gym
>they're doing 1rm warmups for power cleans
>work up to 315
>mogged everyone even the pregnant b***h doing meme pullups
The form was complete dogshit though not going to lie.
Bench 242 (110kg) x 9
Ohp 152 (70kg) x 7
So ohp=0.6-0.7 x bench
5'9 176lbs (80kg)
>be me stall at bench 345 x 3 for a month
added incline db press bench is at 360 x 3
>be me stall at 240 x 1 mp standing
switch to seated now at 260 x 1 and lower back feels like I'm 16 again
Coming off a pec injury
62.5 kg x5 ohp
90 kg x5 bench
No idea what my 1rm is. I look dyel.
