I literally work full time, raise two sons, train 4x per week and still have time to read for 45mins to an hr per day. This. I train 4-5 times per week and I have read 23 books since January 1st (well, actually I've listened some of them on tape while driving). I have a satisfying job, a lovely woman, unfortunately no kids yet.
The boost to discipline and wakefulness that I get from lifting regularly means that even though I have a little less free time, I make much better use of it. 3 free hours isn't worth much if I just sit my lazy ass on the couch watching videos, now I actually have enough energy and motivation to read in my downtime. I get more done in less time just because I feel better.
This. I find my time while the wife watches netflix, and I have no issues reading next to her while she watches. If I'm lucky her bf will come over and they knock out a 30 min to 1 hour session so I can get another few chapters in.

Your average non lifting beginner can frontsquat 50lbs less than bodyweight and a little less than bodyweight in Deadlift. The average man could probably pick up his gf with bad form and hold her for maybe 5-10 seconds, assuming he can do it at all without blowing out his back.
