no then you're wasting your time and energy in the gym if you're not also eating correctly

why even take the hours out of your week if you're not fully committed. go do something else you can actually be bothered to commit to and get results in that instead

Diet is literally everything. It's fashionable to "workout" because it's much easier that eating healthy, and requires much less discipline

I live with my mom and she cooks, so i dont decide what i eat. She also always buys me sweets, cookies and that kind of things. She thinks im still a child, Im 25. And i cant resitst, if those things are in my house i have to eat them every now and then.
She also cooks desserts every weekend, and i have to it because she put effort doing it.

              >Tell your mom you're a big boy and you need protein. If she doesn't want to cook you chicken then offer to buy your own and cook it by yourself. Or get a tub of whey and eat a second dessert.

              >hey mom im going to start controlling my diet and preparing my own food from now on

If she cooks for you then she loves you. Stop using her as an excuse, tell her you're on a diet, and stop eating snacks. Or are you afraid if you tell her and then fail, you'll be a disappointment?

Tell your mom you're a big boy and you need protein. If she doesn't want to cook you chicken then offer to buy your own and cook it by yourself. Or get a tub of whey and eat a second dessert.

Well you can still eat her food, (unless it's freaking cheeseburger salad or something like that), just cut back on the sweets. Tell her to stop buying that stuff for you

but she might think im a homosexual. Im also to shy to tell her, i dont have the confidence to talk about those things

She'll think you're a homosexual if she finds out you've been going to the gym and not making any gains. Unless you're Indian I can't imagine why your mom would be mad or disappointed that you want to eat meat (or protein in general)

As for her desserts just eat a really small portion, if you eat healthy it won't matter.

Easy. You're probably a big soerg, so write down something simple, practice it in a mirror, and then go tell her. Do everyone a favor and don't make a big deal of the explanation.

"Mom, please don't get any sugary snacks for me. It's really nice but I'm trying to stick to a diet."

If she asks about your diet

"I'm trying to eat these meats, these vegetables, and these carbs. I'm avoiding refined carbs, processed food, and added sugar. I'd be happy to cook the next family meal I'd you want to try it"

Tell her you'll have a nice day if you don't meet [unobtainable goal] by [unreasonable time] and that you need to be on a diet ASAP

Ill try but no as easy as you think. Also i dont know how to cook.

Here's a recipe. 6 lbs of frozen chicken breast or tenderloin ,2 quarts or 4 lbs of cheap salsa, 2 cans of beans, 1 can of corn, put in a slow cooker on high for 7 hours. Salsa chicken. Want the perfect side dish? Buy a rice cooker and follow the directions. Season with salt and1 tbsp butter per dry cup. Vegetables? Buy steam in bag broccoli, follow microwave directions, season with a steakhouse seasoning mix and 1/2 tbsp butter. Chicken is lean as hell, skipping butter isn't doing you any favors.

Eating properly, in practice just means not going massively overboard on calories and having enough protein.

I had a two mcdonalds burgers for breakfast, but I clean 300lbs.

When I was in the army I ate the goyslop they fed me there. I could still run a mile in just over 5 minutes.

I use dumbells and some machines and some bars.

          Anonymous

          Track your lifts.

What are you doing with the barbells (bars).

          For example, squats?

If so, how many? And how many at a time?

Don't use machines, machines are for morons.

          Dumbells are inferior to barbells

            Anonymous

Dumbbells are always going to be superior to barbells for all around hypertrophy. Barbells are like machines in that they make the movement more stable and easier to lift.
Most dumbbell lifts are around 80% of the barbell equivalent because you need to use more stabilizing muscles for the movement. That already shows that for the non-ego lifters that want the most functional and aesthetic body, dumbbells are the play.

              Anonymous

Based. Also unilateral exercises are better for hypertrophy and functional strength and not many common barbell exercises are unilateral.

              Anonymous

              agree mostly.

But you can't do heavy compounds with dumbells. For example how could do do a 180kg squat with dumbells?

You can also recruit stabilizing muscles with barbell exercises via olympic lifts.

          >bars
Wow that's a fricking awesome idea. Has anyone considered opening a gym with a bar??? Probably couldn't do it for liability purposes right? Drunk people and heavy equipment don't go together.

BUT, what if you opened a higher end gym with more 'polite' clientele? Something like an Equinox but not for politicians and shit. Somewhere between a Gold's gym and an Equinox, maybe like $100/m membership fees that comes with a free amenity or something, like a free massage or free drink.
