Used pouches a couple times daily for over a month and every time they genuinely made me feel moronic. Lost ability to focus and would become inept for like 30 mins to an hour after and the lethargy would last the rest of the day. Made me need to shit as well

It’s pretty addictive and will probably give you heart disease. It certainly didn’t make me smarter

The main benefits of nicotine come from taking a short break from nicotine withdrawals. It's not a worthwhile habit to pick up.

been smoking for 13 years and it hasnt done anything good for my brain, if anything its just a distraction when you start getting cravings while trying to focus on something. not worth ruining your health over. if you really want to try nicotine, get nicotine spray or gum since it doesnt have tobacco in it

I think all of you are moronic with or without nicotine.

Studies suggest a very low dose (1-2mg) can help but tolerance and dependence build quick so occasional use only. In other word not in any practical way

I would not recommend jumping in with 6mg zyn pouches unless you plan to stay near a toilet for a while.

      What would you recommend?

There's a lot of evidence for it supporting memory, attention, executive function at the expense of physiological safety & being the most addictive + largest societal cost out of any drug that exists.

YMMV, but there are strong odds you will become addicted.

I don’t have an addictive personality but I struggle with focusing and staying on task sometimes.

I'd recommend not bothering with it but since you seem like you're going to anyway just grab the lowest strength juul and see if you even like it.
Pouches and gum tend to upset stomachs for people without a tolerance too it. I guess technically you could avoid that by spitting constantly but nobody does that.

I bought a 3mg zyn, I don’t have much to lose to be quite honest with you.

              Noted.

I smoked a pack or more a day, every day for over a decade. Eventually became the type of person who only smoked when he drank, so for years a pack would last me anywhere from a week to a month roughly.

Haven't smoked in years, the smell of it is pretty god awful now, but awhile back I bought some nicotine gum to see if it would help with appetite suppression. It didn't so I quickly stopped using it. It is over 2 years old, but will occasionally chew a peice. Have one peice left, last one I chewed was maybe in October?

Anyways, I'd say try it. Tobacco will frick your body up if you smoke or chew it, but the nicotine itself won't frick your body up.

Of course I found quitting smoking every day to be super fricking easy compared to dropping other bad habits like drinking so maybe I'm just an oddball.

              Thank you for your insight.

started out by vaping because i liked the tase/experience while drinking. ended up weaning off and onto zyn's, it was ok i guess. took me 2-3 years to realize how badly it gave me anxiety (maybe it developed over time). cut that shit out a week or two ago. I had various vices, weed, kratom, and nicotine (still have alcohol). I've cut out 3 of the 4 and the final is on its way out.

Subjecting yourself to an addictive substance that you currently aren't addicted to is moronic OP. you KNOW you won't use it for the rest of your life, so why use it for now?

for me i cant for the life of me quit nicotine but i havent touched alcohol for 5 years which is weird considering im an alcoholic(a severe case according to various rehabs) and it wasnt that hard. i guess smoking is my main cope for the anxiety and the main reason for my anxiety that i used alcohol to numb making quitting nicotine an absolute b***h. thanks for reading my blog

you know what you can manage. arguably nicotine is better than alcohol if you were a raging alcoholic and not a one beer once a week type of person (not common). doesn't mean you should keep doing nicotine if you recognize it's not a long term good thing. at some point you set a point to cut yourself off not just for health but for the life long process of being a grown man and exercising discipline. what's your timeline? how will you achieve it? I set a goal and stuck to it to cut out those three substance and proved to myself i'm better than i thought i was because of it. the time will come for you anon, don't let your weaknesses let you avoid it.

it was a 12-18 beers a day(half a litre) + homebrew 96% once or twice a week ontop of the beer for months without break kind of alcoholism. i have been trying to quit nicotine for the last 3 years with not alot of success, my best run was 4 months and i started again because of a stupid excuse, but i know i can do it, after 3 weeks its not that bad. its the first week i keep fricking up because i get so shortsighted ,anxious and depressed. my goal is to not give up until the quit sticks, its all a mental game in the end so i have to hammer it into my head how shit nicotine is for me. thats what flipped the switch on my drinking

i don't understand why you went back to it. i didn't have much withdraws or i was just really good at masking it with other activities idk. my recommendation would be to taper off of it until X number of use and stick to it. sometimes researching others methods of quitting and taper methods to the point of exhaustion can force you to develop a plan of your own choosing that you can't make excuses for. quitting kratom was the worst for me, weed was just me being bored, and nicotine was a non-issue since i had anxiety from it. kratom took me 2-3 months to taper off of after 4-5 years of moderate use. it's a freaking opiate, nicotine is just nicotine, you can do this anon. stop being a pussy and set up a plan (I say as I continue to drink, but july is my cut off for the 4th and final addictive substance).

i was just stressed out about work and a breakup and i didnt know how to cope so i thought a smoke was a good idea, which it fricking wasnt.
for me tapering doesnt work, it makes me see the substance as more precious for some stupid reason. cold turkey is what has worked in the past so thats the plan, that and not being a b***h about it. how much are you drinking now vs before starting to taper? i assume thats what youre doing

I’m simply curious on why nicotine is being pushed as a nootropic as of late, and what IST thinks. The benefits of improved cognition interest me a lot, particularly because I have a hard time staying focused. I don’t have much to lose, however, I have much to gain if this stuff really does what people claim.

the covid vax could be pushed as a nootropic, your take here is just as absurd as asking IST for advice. take a step back anon, think about it. do you REALLY think spending money on nicotine is going to make a difference in your life more than introspection and improving on other things you know you need to improve on?

I cycle between using the 4mg gum and caffeine as my main stimulant about every month or so. I've had good results with this and a lot of people in certain circles do something similar. Maybe I'm moronic but then again maybe I'm not.

It's not a meme but the government hates you so much they rather have you doing scheduled drugs, just grift some ritalin from your local glowing meds doc, it usually works better too
