Wow a guard puller got shit on imagine that. You should get better at addressing my point sometime.

not even the same guy, just saw you saying how good BJJ was. unless you like eating asphalt at every turn, Judo and some power strike boxing is better.
its really not
modern judo just sucks because they basically changed the rules to exclude fighting on the ground
judo is better than jiu jitsu because they actually focus on take downs and quick submissions
most bjj only focus on rolling on with no standing
it maybe works on the hexagon because you better know how to defend yourself on the ground but if you watch somebody who is great at not getting takedown you are basically useless with your bjj
also try taking guard in a real fight on the ground lol
i rather slamdunk somebody on the concrete and walk aways than pulling guard on the ground
Everyone knows this history. You are spamming just because the word "improved". Judo is great. BJJ is also different. I don't get what you think this proves.
Jiu jitsu as in JAPANESE JU JUTSU(the gentle art) kano was an ultra manlet and developed his own game then the shogunate modernized and kano taught his ju jutsu game as judo(the gentle sport) then one of his students maeda ended up in brazil as a refugee and taught the gracies judo and ju jutsu but helion the brazilian ultra manlet couldnt do half the techniques so he created his own system from maedas teaching. In modern times known as gracie jiu jitsu(the is are added due to Portuguese pronunciation) then the sport expanded beyond the gracies and gracie jiu jitsu expanded and know is known as brazilian jiu jitsu. Learn the history of whatever your shittalking op
i mean, yeah, everyone knows the gracies learn judo not traditional jiujitsu, i neve runderstood why they call theyr system brazilian jiujitsu and not brazilian judo
>Brazillian jiujitsu >Techniques stolen from the Japanese - i.e. not Brazillian >Based on Judo not jiujitsu - i.e. not jiujitsu
What did the hueBlack folk mean by this?
That's because at the time judo was still known as jiujitsu, although Jigoro Kano invented his style in 1882, it was until around 1920 that the name judo was invented and by then Mitsudo Maeda was already in Brazil training the greases.
So they were introduced to the style of judo while it was still called jiujitsu, early on it's development, it was called Kano's jiujitsu instead of judo.
By the time Masahiko Kimura btfo helio Gracie, the judo federation was already stablished.
Early jiu jitsu was probably effective because professionals used it to protect themselves on battlefields. But yeah, BJJ is derived from judo derived from jiu jitsu

Every fight goes to ground involuntarily. I agree that standing and striking is safer if a crowd of people is around you, but you WILL inevitably fall down or get taken down. If you can't grapple when that happens, you won't be able to get back to your feet and you'll get stomped on.
You're missing the point. You're going to end up getting injured far more easily doing grappling on a hard, coarse surface than a mat designed for large men to fall on it. Realistically most grappling suffers from that though
you're right, but that doesn't negate the fact that having training on the ground is better than not, even if it ends up taking place on concrete. There are also adjustments to technique people can do to adapt to concrete grappling, but yeah, of course it's still gonna hurt.
But you'd rather know how to sweep and scramble to stand back up on concrete than sit there with a guy on top of you with his friends kicking you.

not the guy you replied to but I'm not anti-groundowork, I just think that traditional judo is pretty well rounded in terms of standing and groundwork compared to BJJ so is superior for self defence. one good throw on concrete and 75% of people are out for the count

Your solution in this scenario is just to curl up in a ball and let people stomp you.
With or without training you will get kicked on the ground. With training you have a chance to stand back up.

Your pov is heavily biased towards a ground fight.
In an actual streetfight or physical assault, you are against a person who is less likely to take you down or fight in a 1v1 scenario. You need to be as free as possible for potential knives and sometimes you won't even know you were stabbed until you are soaked in blood.

yeah, striking is better for multiple opponents or weapons, BUT ALL fights go to the ground. You need to know how to stand up again. If you get stabbed there's a chance you'll fall and you need to stand up to run away. grappling would help with that. also controlling a weapon like a knife is easier with grappling techniques than striking.
why is the scenario always that there is a crowd of people. In what scenario are you in a self-defense situation that you can't get out of against one person, but they have multiple friends that are watching and not intervening, and then if the fight hits the ground they will come stomp you out. The only time this could ever happen is if you're having an ego Black person street fight.
lol
have you seen the first bjj fights that made it popular >i just lay on the ground, pull guard and turn to kick them in the knee
no way that would work in the real world
Cope. Learning wrestling is hard. Learning guard pulling is simple and can be done in a few solid weeks of training. What's your plan if he learns to pull guard?
Yeah thats why I made a decision early on in jiu jitsu to not pull guard. I only even wrestle for takedowns or attack legs on people when they pull guard on me.
Just telling how it is. I was a nationally ranked wrestler, I cross trained in jiu-jitsu. Fricking man handled them. I'd borrowed a gi and man handled purple belts. Granted I wasn't the best at submissions, but always had better body control. And in any actual cross over fight I'm just going to get superior body position and beat you, and your balls, dick, and ass. Try and stop me.
Man I'd love to do a few years of almost strictly wrestling. There's almost zero wrestling culture in the southeast US. Sucks so much ass. It's just all foggy football players doing some wrestling basics at best.
That sucks to hear bro. In my internation compitions in the us I always found that they had a much larger pool of athletes, and therefor the compition was always a lot more stiff. They also do collegiate, which has got to be the most exhausting form of grappling there is
i mean, yeah, everyone knows the gracies learn judo not traditional jiujitsu, i neve runderstood why they call theyr system brazilian jiujitsu and not brazilian judo
No shit small world. I trained at a Grayce facility. I even got some lessons from Rodrigo Gracie, the man was a fricking savage.
My state specifically pulled all of their funding for wrestling back in the late 80's. Yanked the program right out from under a nearby school that was constantly winning national tournaments.
bjj practitioner goes to the ground. Starts trying to work an arm bar. attacker grabs ears or hair and repeatedly starts slamming head into the concrete. friends come up and soccer kick in the head.
bjj the is the best street fighting
False premise.
Fight goes to the ground. BJJ guy is underneath fat drunk moron. BJJ executes an elbow escape and reverses the moron and GTFO with a quickness.
It's a whole lot better than -not- knowing how to escape bad positions.
Any variation of JJ is fricking moronic for general self defense, if you got some scrap with another 190 - 200 lbs 6'0 man you're not gonna go turtle and rub your ass and back on the ground and you're not going to be hunching down and trying to wrap yourself around them like some big gay python. Feet on the ground or turn the frick around Black person. Why do you think the military and the police teach Judo as a primary form of self defense and physical de-escalation instead of muh BJJ or JJ in general.
I always laugh when people say that Judo doesn't have the techniques that bjj has when bjj has been stealing it's techniques from judo since forver, more modern bjj techniques all come from catch wrestling and sambo too, wich btw sambo originated from judo and catch wrestling developed fighting judo and earlier form of japanese jiujitsu for a few centuries.
holy shit i remember seeing that on a fight thread on /gif/, that shit was painful to watch. all the training in the world and you can still easily get fricked up by a dick twist
Too much reliance on grabbing the gi when IRL (and in the ring) nobody wears clothing that thick and durable except maybe during deep winter.
Wish 10th planet was more widely available outside of burgerstan; where I live there's literally only one teacher (maybe in the entire country), and he's an unofficial (dojoless) teacher with a purple belt, not a black belt.
>irrelevant gay that has never competed in mma fought flushed old bum
There has never been a 10th planet gay in mma, not a single one.
And btw, according to eddie, he invented his style years after his fights with that grease guy.

What are you talking about
I distinctly remember someone getting a submission via twister a few months ago
Ant bros...
Black person op, found it
judochads win again
but judo is shittier then jujutisu
This. Any blue or purple belt that is disciplined in training takedowns and knows a decent amount of wrestling can stand with Judo practitioners.
oh no no no no

how is it a combined version of the best things of jiu jitsu if it doesn't cover even a fraction of the things jiu jitsu does?

hes not even here anymore, you sperged out too much and he ran off. suck buckshot sugartank
ant thread. no humancucks allowed. imagine being so dyel you can't even lift 50 times your own body weight kek.
Brazillian jiu jitsu is tremendously different from the chink shit versiom of jiu jitsu they're referring to, kys
Yeah it sucks
Early jiu jitsu was probably effective because professionals used it to protect themselves on battlefields. But yeah, BJJ is derived from judo derived from jiu jitsu
But what about israelite jitsu?
BJJ is the best for self def-*gets slammed into the pavement at 40mph*
Hasn’t the UFC pretty much settled this argument? You don’t see any fighters at the top with judo, it’s always BJJ + boxing
rolling around on a mat =/= rolling around on a pavement with a crowd of people around you
lame argument.
Every fight goes to ground involuntarily. I agree that standing and striking is safer if a crowd of people is around you, but you WILL inevitably fall down or get taken down. If you can't grapple when that happens, you won't be able to get back to your feet and you'll get stomped on.

Basically all live leak videos of bjj getting btfod show this exact scenario
>it’s always BJJ + boxing
it´s always wrestling and muay thai, some bjj on the side
lol
have you seen the first bjj fights that made it popular
>i just lay on the ground, pull guard and turn to kick them in the knee
no way that would work in the real world
Bold of you to assume BJJ doesn't train this.
isn't there a dedicated board now for arm-chair martial arts styles flamewars?
As an Olympic style wrestler, I fricking man handle judo bros and jitsu bros alike. Your leg sweeps are weak, get out of my kitchen.
>pulls guard
Takedowns my wiener, ass, and balls
Cope. Learning wrestling is hard. Learning guard pulling is simple and can be done in a few solid weeks of training. What's your plan if he learns to pull guard?
if you pull guard in self defense you are a certified moron and will probably get ground and pounded into the afterlife by someone untrained
>pulls guard and starts humping you
Yeah thats why I made a decision early on in jiu jitsu to not pull guard. I only even wrestle for takedowns or attack legs on people when they pull guard on me.

been training mma and man I wish I had wrestled when I was younger because I can't wrestle for shit
The best martial art is having a weight and reach advantage. Outside of competition, have a weapon.
bjj practitioner goes to the ground. Starts trying to work an arm bar. attacker grabs ears or hair and repeatedly starts slamming head into the concrete. friends come up and soccer kick in the head.

Why do the Gracies cope so much?
He counts rounds as individual fights. Also they set the rules always.

Too much reliance on grabbing the gi when IRL (and in the ring) nobody wears clothing that thick and durable except maybe during deep winter.
