John Meadows was one of the few good?

He clearly cared about the natties, and his advice was generally sound.
I didn't know much about him when he died, and I made an inconsiderate post writing him off as a /fraud/er who paid the toll.
But now I realize he was just an overall really decent guy, who sadly loved bodybuilding too much, which cost him his life.
Unlike with most frauders, where I assume they downplay how much and when they started using, I actually believe him when he says he trained for years as a a natty and naively thought he could get his procard without gear (he seems that genuine and kind-hearted).
RIP Mountaindog.

Seemed like a kind man who loved his son, RIP. There are some really good obscure isolations and variations I find extreme useful even as a natty - he knew his shit and shared some good advice you could only get from an authentic bodybuilding environment from back in the day.

His advice on doing hamstring curls before squats is actually god tier, feels so good

What were the basic training things he pushed? This was one of them (I like it). What else? I seem to remember he'd train a muscle with a well suited heavy lift for 6-8 reps for a few sets then do a slightly lighter variant & the last exercise would be lighter still but always high effort.

I still watch his old videos/reuploaded ones.
Things I can rattle off the top of my head
        >do more rear delts, they give you the "round" back part of the delt that used to be a signifer of a good body builder
        >smith machine is great for legs
        >exercise order matters a ton.
        >partial lateral and rear delt raises with heavy weight.
Many others, I have been taking the exercise order to heart and doing 2-4 exercises per body part.
He has an order to his lifts that go from least strenuous on the joint to most strenuous.

Honestly his 21 reasons your X muscle isn't growing is gold.

I would just suggest just going through his entire why you aren’t growing series, that playlist contains most of his ideas on just about everything, and is probably worth more than most other peoples entire channels.

he looked like shit at the end. I disregard his advice. There are roiders who age better

doug brignole too. They trusted the science too much. With roids you have decades of papers to read through to get a real good idea of dosages and side effects. They clearly just trusted advice from someone without doing their own thinking

Didn't he literally have a heart attack and kept roiding anyway? No wonder he died. I'm sure he was a lovely guy and his lifting advice was fantastic but that's serious mental illness.

He was a genius in the world of bodybuilding but definitely had some body image issues bc he refused to downsize (come off roids completely) even in his late 40s after health complications. Many such cases.

I don't understand why you guys keep spreading this when it's visibly false. Anybody who watched his videos regularly saw how drastically he shrank after he retired from competing. You can go on his channel right now and pull up videos from 2016, then videos from months before his death. He looks completely different because he shrank so much from cutting the roids. He maintained as best he could from optimally high TRT and insane work intensity, but biology is biology and he was getting smaller every year. That's a good thing, by the way.

He was a good man who's couldn't overcome his addiction to steroids. He knew he had a heart condition way before the attack that killed him. Not trying to come down hard on him, but the warning signs were there and he clearly kept taking steroids.

body dysmorphia steroid addict. he may have portrayed himself as a good guy but he also had a child and despite that he chose blasting roids to look like a freak instead of actually being alive and raising his kid

      literal drug addict

I keep posting this every time there's a Meadows thread, but you guys don't listen. He died of a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs), not a heart attack.

He lived on my street back when I lived in Ohio. We both went to American Barbell too. I would always see him collabing with some youtuber or filming. V-shred also went there. My only interaction with him was when he came up to me when I was doing 35lbs ring pull-ups, and he said I must have strong lats. I mumbled some autistic response that it wasn't even my max and never talked to him again. My gf used to work at the starbucks in the kroger by our house, and he would come in often to get a white chocolate mocha for him and his wife. I still remember the morning he died. I was on the way to the gym, and I saw the county sheriff in his driveway. My career wasn't going too well, and I started envying that he had such a nice job and was a pillar in our community. I later found out that he died later that day. Weird how things go. He was ultimately irresponsible when it came to his family, and he left his young kids without a father. After he died and American Barbell opened up the new gym, there was a mural with meme text in dedication to John Meadow next to the t-bar. It was weird to see his face every time I did my rows. I moved, so I don't know if his family still lives on my street. Blog post over.

I want to speak on this briefly, as a father of 3. I often see in these threads people like you saying that he didn't care about his kids/didn't father them properly because he died prematurely. We'll set aside the fact that he had a clotting disorder that almost killed him multiple times throughout his life before it finally did and we'll assume for the sake of argument that he died purely because of past steroid use, since that's what a lot of you believe. None of you guys have thought this through. Bodybuilding is a sport, a job, that comes with risks. There are lots of jobs that come with risks. Police work, firefighting, etc. are all the valorous ones, but even menial stuff like mining, working on an oil rig, trucking, etc. Lots of men do work that puts them at mortal risk. Doing work like that is NOT evidence that you don't love your kids. Your criticism of him along these lines implies that the only people who should have kids are the men who maximally protect their own lives and take the fewest risks, which is absurd. If John didn't love his kids, nobody loves their kids. I get sick in my stomach seeing you guys pontificate thoughtlessly about something many of you know nothing about and never will.

True, but some compassion is in order. I don't know if he struggled with it or just flat out ignored it.

Lifting was his identity and his life. The thought of losing his muscle must have been terrifying. He should have gotten therapy, clearly that dysmorphia fricked with his head.

He might have been a good guy but he proves how dumb steroids are because his whole thing was about being as “healthy” as possible. Except being healthy while roiding is impossible, and that’s what killed him.
