How so? Muay Thai utilizes the entire body as a weapon

Yes it is. Boxers would be destroyed if you could kick them. Don't get me wrong, the footwork for boxing is second to none but it is entirely contingent on that you can't kick their legs.

for every 1 boxing gym you can find there are 10 muay thai gyms IN THE FRICKING UNITED STATES for some fricking reason
same thing with wrestling vs Judo/BJJ, it literally makes no sense

if you learn pure muay thai boxing, your boxing is almost guaranteed to be worse than a boxer's boxing
also, throwing a bad roundhouse in a streetfight is WAY riskier than throwing a bad punch

trained both, i ackknowledge MT > boxing, but boxing is way more fun

weird, it's pretty much 50/50 here

I’d imagine most MT practitioners know that a missed kick in the streets is a recipe for disaster.

The original guy said MT > boxing in every way, a boxer is not going to do anything that would be risky in a street fight. It's a tossup as to which is better in a street fight.
          >boxing
superior punches (80% of street fight)
          >muay thai
          superior clinch
          has "take-down"s (clinch trip)

weird, it's pretty much 50/50 here

Lived in DC currently live in seattle and there's more MT gyms than boxing ones (not including the pure fitness boxing gyms, only counting gyms with sparring)

With proper training low kicks can be very viable in a street fight.

With proper training of course. Low kicks and teeps would be top tier in a street fight (assuming no weapons).
A properly trained boxer and a properly trained MT practioner the MT practioner wins assuming stats are equalized. I never said otherwise. The original poster just said something wrong. MT punches, hand placement, etc. is inferior to the boxing equivalent. Basically anything that boxing does, it does better than MT. MT is better because of the things it does that boxing does not.

I wouldn't say they're inferior. They produce way less power but MT also has rules that make boxing stance a bad idea is why they go with the weaker option.

The ruleset doesn't vindicate the fact of the matter. Judo does not allow leg attacks. Does that mean that it's not inferior to wrestling for takedowns?

If you're going to take this angle, then why not do the same for boxing? It's not inferior to MT, the ruleset just doesn't allow the elbows/knees/kicks.

The head movement in boxing would be a disaster in MT. A low boxing slip/duck means a disgusting knee to the chin. On top of this, MT judges reward blocks and discourage dodges. All of this makes movement not as emphasized as checking/blocking. Does this change anything about the fact of the matter? Boxing movement is still superior, with or without context.

Is it easier to do MT first then boxing, or the opposite?

Doesn't matter. Pick whichever is more convenient (closer gym, better sparring program, etc.) Boxing has less to worry about, which means it's faster to learn. You'll be shitty at the outset either way.

Judo rules make it so gay. The Judo gays in here are coping that they have the best takedown game and it's all really good but you can just incorporate the entirety of Judo in BJJ and then keep grappling on the ground.

I have fricked up shoulder ligaments that used to sublux (or occasionally fully dislocate) when tackling in football.
I want to get into a martial art, which ones gonna frick my shoulders up the least to learn?
