Jump Rope

>is one of the best cardio by a long mile, and is a full body workout which makes it even more godly
>unlike the options that competes with it, this one is cheap as frick (plenty of good ones for mere 10 bucks)
>is very portable, can take it with you literally everywhere, meaning you have 0 excuses to not get some cardio in
>is low impact (when done right), so it is safe on your knees and joints - for mere 10 bucks you will never have to do high impact trash like running ever again, keeping your body healthier for much longer
>when done right, can also be used every single day, because its low impact nature means it won't frick up with your heavy lifting recovery
You ARE doing chad rope jumping, right, IST?

You want to jump as soon as the rope hits the ground, focus! It takes about a month-ish to get good at this since its mainly about co-ordination, bigger you are harder it is to learn.

      >Cheap
      >Full body
Not even close you musty flamming homosexual
Crawling builds a goldy back ESPECIALLY when weighted PLUS has good carry over to marital arts
I'm also uncoordinated and autistic like

I am too moronic for this shit, I keep hitting myself after like 5 seconds. Bit hard on my shins but I know what muscles I need to train to fix that issue so that isn't a problem

It's annoying catching your foot and having to restart every 10 seconds, longest I've gone is 30 or so. I set a timer last weekend and jumped rope for 5 minutes, and my calves were sore as frick for 2 days afterwards.

      Shit fricks up your shins

haha thats two ways to have a nice day, get it guys? Cause jump could mean suicide in a context where someone is standing on a ledge or high building, and rope is a slang term for suicide by hanging cause it is done with a rope of some kind. I love accidental comedy like this

You can just jump up and down on the spot without a rope.

      Anonymous

I mean, it makes sense if you just want to sweat a little, but without a real rope you won't train actual coordination and reflexes. Cordless jump rope is easily the biggest scam in this niche.

        Anonymous

In what way does rope train coordination or reflexes? It's just a matter of technique and timing, once you get them down the exercise becomes as mindless as it would be without a rope. You think professional boxers manually track each swing of the rope or something?

          Anonymous

Well it involves coordinating so there's that. You make a good point with reflexes but I don't think they're all that unrelated to timing. I can't explain why but I'm extremely smart and usually right.

Does anyone here actually jump rope? I bought one and I have been trying to learn the boxer jump rope routine and it’s hard af. Any pointer’s would be appreciated.

I unironically learn how to jump rope on YouTube. Jump rope dudes explain pretty well how to do it, then you just go and train. When you fails, you keep doing it and eventually you'll nailed it. It's fun as hell, I'm doing it for 3 years at least 3 times a week. It improved my cardio a lot.

I did/do. In fact my whole fitness experience and life in general began with rope jumping, exactly because it was cheap and I could do it anywhere. I was fat and too much of a beta for gym or running, and I would take my rope and jump in the woods. I did for about 3-4 months until I got a bit leaner then I started going to the gym. I'm glad I did it that way. Cardio has always been a staple for me, I'm glad I haven't started going -immediately- at the gym since day 1, and I instead picked this other form of exercise.

wtf is wrong with you guys
i usually do a 20min morning skip and i maybe have to reset 2-3 times lol
also i takes like 1sec to reset if you do like boxers starting with both hands on one side

either you have a trash coordination or there is something wrong with your rope

I want to, but I don’t know if I want to get a “weighted” one or not. I was gifted Amazon money, but since I literally never buy online, the online shopping experience was too much of a pain for me to continue. What should I get?

      Anonymous

      just get a regular rope
don't get fooled by the "weighted" ones, all it is going to do is make the cardio part of the rope less efficient in exchange for a more strength based one (just lift weights, man)
speed ropes are also a meme if you're a beginner, you get pretty much 0 feedback from using one, they're mostly good for those technical guys doing lots of dance jumping moves
tl;dr get a regular pvc rope

    How many do you do?
I'm doing 600 as a warmup to lifting sessions, when I was younger and in shape used to do 1000, aiming to return to that.
I also try to double jump, but it always fricks up my knees

How tf would you even count em I fail to count reps at gym sometimes I’d go insane trying, I just put a timer

50 min is my cardio day

        Anonymous

I count in twos (2,4,6,...) and my pace is pretty stable so it's not that hard.
50mins is insane. I do my warmup for around 5mins and it still feels like a lot
