Jumproping = meta?

Ate low cals, drank only water and some tea, spammed jump roping for 1 1/2 - 2 hours just yesterday
Immediately saw progress just a few hours after jump roping
Is jump roping the meta bros or am I actually just retarded

jumproping burns a lot of calories. I think it was about 200 cals for 15 minutes of jumproping. I couldn't imagine forcing myself to jump rope for an hour straight but if I did I would not be surprised at losing an entire pound (although most of it would probably be water weight)

You won’t make it more than 3 days tops jump roping an hour and a half to two hours at a time a day. Spread that out to 15-20 minute circuits of jump roping to your favorite high energy songs a few times a day and even that’s a lot. If you fuck up your feet knees ankles or shins you’ll wish you’d never touched a jump rope

the ppl who really need to lose fat can't jump rope cause the pressure of weight will fuck up their knees and ankles
so it's not really relevant unless you're in some meme fighting sport that forces you to lose weight to fight in a particular weight class

It's easy to learn, fun (if you can do some tricks) and burns a lot of calories. When I started exercising my go to was weighted jump rope + kettlebell swings. 30-45minutes 5 times a week and it helped me to lose weight.

considering doing exactly that for my cardio. something like 1 min jump then right on to 10 swings then 30-60 sec rest for 10 minutes or so to start with since im in shit shape at the moment

I was couch potato when I started (205lbs) and it was brutal, but managable and kinda fun. Usually my session was something like 1-4 minutes of skipping rope, 15-25 kb swings (24kg), no rest. You will learn to pace your jumping pretty quickly and you will turn it into "active rest". It was so effective I stopped doing it for some reason.

same weight that i am now. holy shit that sounds quite hard. did you just do a basic jump with both feet or do you recommend any other jump technique? like, is there any jumps that are better suited for "active rest"

I used to do just the simple jumps/alternating legs/boxer skip. Sometimes double unders/crossovers but those are not suitable for the active resting. Good luck anon. It's quite enjoyable though, don't rush it, learn the technique, don't jump too high and pace yourself. Those are my two cents.

Last time I got in to jump roping I got addicted to rpm and went to bare cable ropes by the end. Destroying a set of cables every two weeks was not fun, probably doing something wrong. I think the speed rope guys don't actually let the rope hit the floor anymore.

was able to do 8 minutes before, but lately i've just been redlining on 200, trying to keep pace til 400. if i try to go for 1000, it's like the first 400 are at a decent pace and then i'm just stretching out the rest for time.

    Jumprope is autism.

Swimming>cycling>running in terms of cardio efficiency/fun.
Grab some underweater headphones and go for a dive.

I love jump rope. Trying to learn the boxer step but I'm having a lot of trouble.
How many jumps can you do before messing up?

Max, I'd say somewhere around 70.
Also would you mind explaining what the "boxer step" is?

Me and my 3 gym buddies started doing jumprope, and we got really into it. We're talking supershredder. We set up a big double dutch in the middle of the weight room. We had abs like ninja turtles, and everyone at the gym started calling us the jumprope turtles, so we came up with call signs. I was Donatello, because I preferred machines to barbells. Anyhow, Mikey passed away (hypothermia), so we set up a picture of him on the squat rack, and now we tie one end of the ropes to the rack. Hurts every time I'm the twirler and I have to look at Mikey's smiling face, I really miss him, bros.
