Film yourself to make sure you're using proper form and not that version who looks almost like a standing incline bench. If that's your case you'd better lower the weight and keep trying with proper form

You realize in pike push-ups depending on form and if you elevate feet, you're using 50-70% of bodyweight. So you're saying you weigh between 285-400lbs? You're a fricking moron.

Go for more reps than 5x5 and you'll see your OHP zoom up in a few weeks if you just actually lifted it instead of following shittertoe's commands like a b***h.

3x10 is not going to increase ohp. 5x5 is the sweet spot.

      Anonymous

      This, but the exact opposite.

      1) Learn how to do a front rack, press from a front rack. Press from a dead stop at clavicles. No bouncy half rep shit.
      2) Master the groove. your head needs to move out of the way while you lean slightly then you also need to get back in under the bar.
      3) Stick to 2-3 reps, simple stuff like 3 x 3 and microload in waves
      4) Don't use it as a hypertrophy lift. Hammer the shit out of your delts with seated DB press in stead, 6-10 rep ranges for big volume. Set incline to ~60-70 degrees as this better simulates where you are going to get stuck in a standing barbell OHP.

        Anonymous

Idiot, work with something you can lift 5x5 and get it to 3x20 instead and up the weight whenever stuck on progress. That's the leap you need to make for the next set.

Also you never train your slow twitch fibers which is probably why you can't get your maximal lifts up, in OLY lifting VOLUME is key not one rep max.

I even wrote the post in bulletin format and you still managed to fail reading and comprehend what was said.
              >Keep getting stuck on that plateau

                > Musclebound moron doesn't understand your fast twitch get activated because slow twitch can't handle it, meaning the slow twitch can be trained to handle bigger loads thus increasing the bigger load for the fast twitch.

There are people repping hundred kilo bench presses for 20 reps and you are stuck with b***h weight with b***h reps to cope with your lack of adequate and actual training. Why not instead of doing your wave routine you do 2 heavy sets and train for high reps the last 3 sets of OHP?

    OHP before or after bench?
When talking about OHP, do you go for 5 or 10 rep sets?
Asking because I try going for 10 reps and I can't do more than 4 sets before my form collapses. Usually the last set is 7-8 reps.

If I'm running some shit like U/L I have one day where I bench heavy first and OHP for volume after, and another day where I do the opposite.

Not him but something like 5x5 on Bench and 3x8 on OHP after is fine.
Just make sure you rest enough between sets, 4-5 minutes is fine for the 5x5 and 3-4 min on the 3x8

            Anonymous

            >5x5 on Bench and 3x8 on OHP after is fine.
I usually do 4x8-10 OHP then 6-7 bench sets, with the last 2 being the heaviest weight at 6-8 reps. Is it too much volume? I make sure to reach failure at my heaviest sets, and I sometimes get to 7-8 reps depending on fatigue, sleep, calories consumed etc.

              Anonymous

Its a lot, but if you can recover from it and you're making progress, you can continue until you hit a wall, then you can change things up.
Sets of 8 reps isn't really heavy, if you can lift something for 8 reps, its not really a heavy weight for you.
I also rarely go to failure on the last sets anymore, i always leave at least 1 rep in the tank, more often 2-3 and i find that it helps a lot with recovery and i'm still progressing.

For some reason it's been my strongest lift starting out. I did 50kg first day lifting properly in the gym at 75kg bw and for the first few months my OHP was pretty much the same as my bench. I hit 1pl8 way before I hit a bw bench and a 2pl8 bench was miles away at the time.

OHP is just a great indicator of overall functional strength, much better than Bench

      beginner milestone
easiest of the 1/2/3/4 for most men
it's solid only if your bodyweight is 135 as well

100kg Bench and 180kg Deadlifts are a lot easier than 60kg OHP for most people.
