Just how big of an effect do veggies have on your overall health?

Just how big of an effect do veggies have on your overall health? As long as I hit my macros and don't eat like a fat frick so I am always maintaining then is it a huge deal if I enjoy burgers and fries or chicken and toast? I don't think I can give up bread and pasta anytime soon but I am under 200lbs and recently hit 2 plates but I eat like shit and just do my 3 days a week of liftin

Most of your micronutrients and fibre would come from vegetables. Yes you can take supplements, but there's better bioavailability if you just eat vegetables.

Now here's the part where a bunch of fat powerlifters spam the thread with cherrypicked studies from suspicious journals, that go against the consensus.

    Yes, eat your fricking broccoli.

I mean you aren't technically wrong but bioavailability for micronutrients isn't a big deal and are covered easily through quality multivitamins which while they are mostly a scam will get the job done when you get a good product.

Fiber is mostly a scam though however that varies from person to person, psyllium husk works just fine to replace veggie fiber to no detriment

B-but... I'm allergic to broccoli and most veggies.

Most bioavailable micronutrients come from meat, dairy, eggs, and fish. Although vegetables can also contribute significantly, especially minerals like potassium and magnesium.

Tell me something besides vitamin C and fiber that animal products do not provide which the body needs?

And when you don't load up on sugary fruits and carbs your body needs bare minimum vitamin C which gets taken care of by gluconeogenesis anyway really it's just the fiber which again without a ton of carbs you hardly need

        >you don't need fiber if you dont eat carbs.
Backwards. Fiber intake helps lower LDL cholesterol which goes up with animal product consumption.

        >name something other than fiber and vitamin c
Tons of different phytochemicals and antioxidants, as if fiber and vitamin c weren't important enough anyways.

Based and big strong boy pilled

      >easily through quality multivitamins

Multivitamins are not supposed to replace whole foods. You'll find that there's a whole bunch of micro-micronutrients if you look deep enough into it. Shit you won't even know about.

As a rule of thumb, we evolved to eat whole vegetables with a bit of meat once in a while. If you try to cheat the lifestyle that we evolved for you're probably gonna miss some shit you didn't think of.

      > Fiber is mostly a scam

Buddy, I feel bad for your colon.

Excellent reddit spacing but you are turning into the initial broscience homosexual you first mentioned touting shit with not much to back it up, evolution takes an insanely long time and we are still going through the motions. Genetics plays the biggest part in what is best for your body or how early you will die but you can absolutely thrive with bare minimum veggies given they are mostly just water, fiber and a couple vitamins so you really only need a small amount if that

None at all. You need vitamin c at most to prevent scurvy and sailors were fine eating limes with their meat and grain.

Those sailors all died of syphilis before we could see what their diet would do to them in the long run.

They still gorged themselves on fresh fruit & vegetables when they landed ashore. Buddy, they were not living their best lives and deadlifting 200kg.

Idk about anyone else but I feel bad if I don’t eat a lot of vegetables for a day or two. It may be psychological but eating some raw vegetables or a salad makes me feel better immediatey

The right side of the pic also contains grease, sauces, more salt, is a worse cut of meat (if ground beef counts as a "cut"), and probably butter on the bun.
