        Fasting is just a form of mitochondrial modulation, when you fast the mitochondria have to modulate themselves to increase efficiency. Once again reducing blood sugar levels because it's an adaptation.
        You do not need to fast, though I do recommend it from time to time as an alternative to endurance cardio when you need rest days.

        Regards to your question, it comes down to the same thing as any form of cardio or any form of diet.
        You have to reach the point where it goes from being a normal exercise, to an endurance exercise. Fasting is just a form of passive modulation of the mitochondria.
        Cardio is a form of active modulation of the mitochondria.
        Any form of movement, done long enough (even walking) will eventually take you into zone 2 cardio and push you into endurance ranges.
        If you do this often enough (hopefully three days a week because the benefits of cardio only last three days themselves) you will over time modulate your mitochondria to activate.
        Over time this will increase your energy levels. Which is directly how athletes over time begin to go longer distances or more volume.
        Metabolic diseases directly have an inverse correlation with this mitochondria activation.
        Cancer is not linked to high sugar, cancer is directly linked to metabolic diseases though.
        Because low mitochondrial activation means low immune system response.
        Your immune cells all have mitochondria and erasing cancer requires these cells to be in tip top shape.
        Endurance modulation is the only activation of said mitochondria we have found to date.

          If you're just walking for thirty minutes, etc.
          I mean it gets the blood pumping.
          It has to have a tangible health benefit for people who are inactive or low activity.

          When I walk (which I do because I write music, just wander around for ideas) it's often 12+ miles.
          About 8 miles in I can feel the point where energy levels dip. Heart rate kicks up, arteries begin to dilate, and hunger goes down.
          It's just very time inefficient for the average person.
          You'll get more bang for your buck doing a stair master, elliptical, etc because you can reach this point in thirty minutes. Opposed to two hours.

          The hunger going down is the one that you're looking for. Means mitochondria are activating, blood sugar levels are stabilizing.
          The body is working as intended.

          I do this almost every night, because I got nothing better to do. I'm listening to my music and coming up with new ideas.
          If you are time restrained, find a more efficient activation mechanism.

          Are you actually doing HIIT or are you doing HIIT so long that it has become an endurance exercise?

              I'm not the anon you're replying to, but zone 2 cardio is extremely well vetted for cardiovascular health. Every endurance athlete at high levels do zone 2 for the majority of their training (often abiding by the 80/20 rule).

              From immediate personal experience, I'm 30, and have been less than healthy for the last decade. Since January, I've been zone 2 training a few times a week either biking or running. My RHR is already down about 10bpm and my HRV is up significantly, both indicators of heart health.

              I can't say that z2 cardio is the perfect, but I feel much better doing it, and cardiovascular health is liked to longitivity and quality of life in a bunch of studies, so I'd recommend it.

        this wouldn't shock me - if you do carnivoire on only red meat, your cholestral is going to spike. i did it for 2 months and went from normal levels to +250total, +175ldl, 195non-hdl. also was waking up with charlie horses almost ever morning if i didnt drink 1/2 gallon of water the day before

        restarting this week though, no longer pure carnivoire though. going more keto based and only red meat 3 days a week, snack food going to be nuts instead of jerky and probably have 1 - 2 servings a week of veggies. will re-test levels

        my tests levels did go up on carnviore as a 37yr old man ~25%, to ~640. i got tested in 2022 and was ~520. probably not eating high fructose garbage cleaned my system out
