I just bought an adjustable dumbbell set with 200lbs of plates, and a bench and plate rack. Cost $350. Gonna invest in a mat, pull up bar, and maybe dip bar. I'm honestly just tired of the time waste that goes into going to the gym every day, waiting on people to get off equipment, etc. I know I won't have the best equipment, and will likely lose a bit of muscle mass (I can currently bench 315lbs), but honestly I don't give a shit. Tired of lifting heavy anyways. If I can wake up and instantly workout, it's worth the sacrifice of not having a shit-ton of gym equipment (especially since I have a baby son who consumes a lot of my time). I may even use the time I'm saving to do cardio for once in my life.

That's awesome. My dad didn't start lifting til I was a teenager, and even then he only went to commercial gyms. He'd try to convince me to go, but because I never saw him do it, I had no motivation or desire to join him.

            >There is 3 (three) benches and two (2) half racks
            >End up always doing bench press, OHP, etc... with dumbells because nobody uses them but every moron wants to hoard the under 10 20kg plates
            >A year membership is 500, a similar amount of gear is also 500-1000 bucks
That right there is when Ibuilt my own home gym, being a cheap homosexual and using standard plates because they're way cheaper and I am not that strong (plus I only use the barbell for light stuff since I don't squat or deadlift that often).

Basically the same experience. My current gym has AC but not in the locker room for some reason, so when I change to go to work after I lift, I end up a sweaty mess for my commute. It's awful.

              Anonymous

These buttholes have no AC in the actual work rooms but AC everywhere else, and because I live in a southern country it gets to 60%+ humidity and 30ºC+ degrees before taking in account people working out, the pool downstairs (which also means you can get kicked out for dropping weight (and I am afraid of accidentally injuring someone downstairs by doing so)), it is fricking awful. More so because they refuse to remove the mask mandates so you're waterboarding yourself with sweat, it is nasty as frick.
They do have heating in winter, but they crank the heating to moronic levels so you are playing the cold roulette every time you go, I do miss talking to people there and having access to a pool.

It feels nice that once they are in bed i can start working out asap. Tho I won't lie, i miss the gym's atmosphere and the fact that I don't have to worry about getting new plates when I max out the ones I have at home.

Shitposts and memes aside this is the unironic vibe I got from homegym subreddits. Redditors with enough money seem to pour shit into anything even if it doesn't make sense for them to make up for a personality. Some of the most elaborate and expensive setups for no fricking reason since they're dyel as frick. Could make the exact same gainz with a cheap squat stand and weights but they'd rather consoom and post their nice looking but fricking pointless gyms that they will barely ever use.

Seeing some of them do budget home gym videos is pretty fun because of the ingrained consoomer mentality you talk about.

Yeah you both said what I wanted to say but way better, sorry for the sperg
These guys care more about adding a new consoom to their personality than actually making gainz, the people who actually improve mostly seem to have basic setups

I don't want to wait for turns on weights, or get blasted for catching a peak at some tight ass in between sets. Every day I pick my weights up and carry them outside into the yard and work out for two to three hours straight, establishing dominance on my neighbors, then I pick all my weights up and bring them inside. Home gym life is based. When weather is bad out, I have a big finished basement to lift in.

Everyone knows that /hhg/ (Hating Home Gyms) is a subsidiary of /zfg/ (zionist fitness general).
Reminder that /hgg/ (Home Gym General) is the only general along with /fraud/ that is /misc/ approved!

    Home gym master race here.
I'm gonna give an honest post about things that suck while owning it.
Not as much reason to leave the house and even have some socializing.
No random cardio bunnies doing weird butt workouts in front of me anymore
Only enough space for a spin bike for cardio
Not as much equipment so I'm stuck with a lot of basics
Keeping it clean can be a chore
I don't get that friendly competition to push myself harder, but now I actually follow routines properly
It costs more than a cheap membership would have for a decade and I keep adding stuff
That's all I can think of right now but honestly when I'm out of town and at a gym I remember exactly why I switched to home gym

This was hitting me, at some point I just went out to walk/run/bike as my cardio (I do live on the side of a mountain so just going up is a fricking nasty work out)

Eh, I bought a few kettlebells, a pull-up bar, and a set of rings. I may buy a weighted vest soon. What? Do you need more?

I don't have a home gym but covid got me used to doing just pullups and pushups at home or at work and I've built a halfway decent physique from that.
    Am I based or gay.
