this is my main issue with alcohol as well, my goal is to be able to eventually emulate my drunk personality without drinking at all, but it feels impossible to be as witty and as confident sober as when youre drunk

Just don't consume alcohol and drugs.

It's not that bad if you do it in moderation (real moderation) and pick the right Alcohol.

For me, it's a glass of Port after dinner. Gains don't seem affected and I do it maybe 3-4 times a week. But again, moderation is key here. Last time I overdid it because I was trying to just finish off a bottle I did wind up with a bit of puffiness and weak performance in the gym.

Crazy. I was doing the same thing with various red wines and it not only bloated me, but I started putting on weight that I only noticed at the end of the year. Must mean my diet was in perfect balance, excluding the calories from alcohol. Just not worth it imo.

Wine will do that to me too, but Port is fine. I think it's probably the sugars or something else that gets changed with the distillation and aging. Also, my glass of port is not a wine glass size, it's more like 3 shots worth. Also, definitely some genetic component to all this.

Anything less that 6 standard drinks is basically benign for affecting protein synthesis. 2 standard drinks is benign for your health. If you can be responsible and keep it in a moderate range I’d see no problem with having a beer or two tonight. Best if it’s in a social setting like hanging out with the lads

Gay. Antarah, Qays, and basically every Hero in the Hamasah write about drinking moderately. Remember that Arabia was Arab before it was Muslim.

I have no desire to drink anymore after starting weights and cardio every single day. Having rest days gave me an excuse to binge once in a while.

alcohol in "moderation" is already damaging

Yep, alcohol is actually one of the worst things for both gains, longevity, brain health, your marriage/relationship/kids. I will take an Old Fashioned if I'm personally hosting an important occasion for someone else made in my own house but never get drunk, play drinking games where I actually drink alc, etc. Being a moronic frat boy, wine aunt, rave stripper loses its novelty really fast.
