I've given up on trying to make ring rows not suck.

instead of rowing, try front lever raises

how do they suck? also why row in the first place
      i usually row one armed

        They're awkward.
There's no way to get a good "bar path" or whatever you'd call it in this case. I've never even seen a video of someone else pull it off. They always end up pulling to their clavicles.

instead of rowing, try front lever raises

I used to do those, it's really not the same. Good for lats though.

Pair of dumbbells for legs and that's all I need

yes, you will need more for legs, since there's no efficient bodyweight equivalent for them
but it is fine, i have the most based minimalist solution to your legs right here

Are kettlebells any good for upper body work or am I better off sticking with something else in regards to upper body?

kettlebells are a meme except for a very few select exercises
buy screw on dumbbells and stop listening to dyels online

Honestly that was kind of the plan. I was initially going to buy screwlock dumbbells, but after asking on here people recommended me kettlebells.
They are also a bit less expensive, a 12 to 32kg adjustable kettlebell goes for $300, and a pair of 100lb screwlocks goes for roughly $380.
What makes kettlebells so bad? Are the people shilling them dyels because of the lack of small weight increments? Is it because the important strength and muscle building exercises are better done with dumbbells?

screwlock dumbbells provide far more balance and are far more versatile. it's the best bang for your buck
kettlebells suck because they're really uncomfortable for most basic exercises and tbh it's probably just a few moron with buyer's remorse trying to convince themselves they bought good equipment instead of basic dumbbells
go for a pair of screwlock dumbbells, a pullup bar and a bench and you can do pretty much everything. even for your legs you can do split squats instead of regular squats that would need a heavier barbell, for example.

I disagree. Kettlebells can do everything dumbells can but more comfortably.

yeah bro just do your OHP with kettlebells
            or bench with them

Could you do high volume bench press (so 12+ reps) with kettlebells since they usually jump in big weight increments?

              >OHP
              clean and press
              >bench
lay on the bench and do it the same way you do with dumbbells?
or better, just don't do it
your sissy grip and mobility are too weak for that, you're gonna snap them with your baby arms
              it basically goes
              >too moronic to learn lifting techniques?
              >use a dumbbell, the most moron friendly lifting tool
              >you have a functional brain that is able to learn different grip and lifting techniques?
              >kettlebells wins no contest because a much bigger pool of possible movements

                >my shitty equipment is better because it's harder to use
                post body (you won't)

        sure
you can do pretty much every known traditional exercises with kettlebells, with just a little adjustments due to their weight distribution, whereas kettlebell-centric exercises are tricky to reproduce with other tools
kettlebells swings alone are good enough to justify getting some, and there's a whole set of movements that will give you great mobility
pull up bar or rings (get rings seriously) + kettlebells makes the perfect ultra minimalist homegym
don't listen to that mentally ill guy above, for some reason he's gets irrationally mad at kettlebell threads even though he never touched one
i recommend mark wildman as main resource

I should also say that I have a bench and 50lb adjustable dumbbells already. I'm looking for a new exercise implement because I'm maxing them out on most compound movements and they won't last me very much longer.
I'll look into kettlebells a bit more, though heavier dumbbells will be a much easier transition considering I already have a workout plan designed around them. I definitely will add a pull up bar though, that's a no brainer.
I have another question regarding dumbbells though; would it make any sense to program exercises as a percentage of my estimated 1rm? For example doing 75% of my estimated 1rm for DB bench press on Monday.

still no dyel that claims calisthenics doesn't have a good quads exercise has ever provided proof that they are over the sissy squat

When I do dips I get pain in the back of my left shoulder. I try a couple times a week every month or so but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. It's good for rows and pullups tho

Do deadhangs at the end of every workout and also face pulls. When you dip keep your lats tense.

I remember when I did my first ring muscle up. felt pretty badass that day. still stuck on like 4 ring muscle ups but hopefully working on weighted false grip pullups will help.
