Let's end this once and for all: is running gay or not?

I'm struggling to see how running would assist in making strength gains. It seems like a total waste of energy that would be better utilised towards lifting more intensely than you would have done. You can certainly get a full cardio workout if you lift weights fast with little rest in-between. And for weight loss, no amount of jogging will ever beat calorie restriction.

Even though I am the chair of this debate, I'm going to say that running is gay and that it is mainly used by homosexual men as a mating call.

And women do it because they are both stupid and weak.

It won't increase your strength much but it will increase your endurance dramatically and it gets you outside.

So basically, runners go rooning to merely get out the house? Yeah, I have a few better reasons for getting outside in the fresh air.

    >be extremely “fit” lifter
    >go into combat
    >can’t run
    >get out maneuvered and killed
    Or
    >be extremely “fit” lifter
    >go into ancient combat
    >gas out and stabbed to death first minute
    Or
    >be extremely “fit” lifter
    >climb into cage with guy smaller than you
    >he literally just runs around you until you gas
    >chokes you out when tired 1 minute later
    Or
    >be extremely “fit” lifter
    >have to do some manual labor
    >try to dig hole with shovel
    >gas out first minute
    >small guy digs holes all day np
    >get fired from labor job and every laughs at you
Cardio is pretty important anon and a better measure of actual fitness than just looking big and aesthetic

Both are important, only lazy people don't want to lift AND do some serious cardio such as running

After 30 years of martial arts, calisthenics, strength training, etc. I have got into running and been at it 3 months now. It's absolutely brutal and has made me stronger in all my lifts, in everything else I do, and it is in particular really strengthening my bones. You should at the very minimum be able to run a marathon every day and at least once in your life run 100 miles and get that Insanity badge on Garmin. Then after you've done that get back to bouldering and strength training as main focuses, you'll have a super strong skeleton and heart and can build on that by adding tons of muscle.

While regular running is healthy and everyone should do it, this shit is actually extremely bad for you and not natural. You’ll give yourself stress fractures and blow out your knees.
For normal people that don’t want to become a skeletor extreme runner try aiming for 3-10 milers for speed. If you can maintain a 5-6 min mile pace for 3 miles you’re doing well, if you can maintain a 7 min pace for 10 miles you’re doing well.
You can still maintain muscle mass and not absolutely wreck your body doing this.

My knees don't hurt at all, it's only my ankles that hurt.
I'm going to get that badge I don't care, I just have to do it once, although it is one of the badges you can repeat as many times as you want I'll be happy just getting it once.
Btw I saw some old man go to snap city today at the gym while running 8.5 kms in 1 hour on the treadmill (rest day for me so I'm not going hard).

Hey man, you do what you want, but I’m warning you as somebody who’s worked with orthopedics and been around endurance sports a while that you’ll pay for it later.
But there is a price to pay for everything, so pick your poison.

How so? Also I've got tons of injuries already, chronic pain, etc. and it's all getting better as I continue to do what I do. Why should I stop doing what is apparently healing me?

As gay as it is, try riding a bike. Its good cardio and it has far less stress on your ankles.

        I was born in 1993.

As gay as it is, try riding a bike. Its good cardio and it has far less stress on your ankles.

That's all I've done for the last decade of my life. Running is new to me, cycling I've been doing forever, I easily bike a century. I used to just bike and swim only and never run.

We are not designed to run on concrete and asphalt, running wrecks your joints.
Also we are more suited to walking and jogging.

There are far better methods for cardio than running, also its fricking boring as frick.

Improves blood flow to affected muscles, reducing healing time needed.

Lowers resting heart rate and blood pressure, which reduces anxiety & depression.

Better cardiovascular fitness means more energy.

    Powershitter cope.

It's funny: Running is the most natural training, yet everyone will try to avoid it.

While technically true, too bad no powershitter does it. Neither do you, by the way.
