WOW! You'd be amazed at how many people can't work a fricking fan though, they are legitimately too dumb to put a fan in a window to cool down. Some women even spend thousands of dollars on scented candles so they never have to circulate the stale cat air out of their house.

yep, it's literally farce. They were talking about "extreme heat" when Wales hit its year high of 28.7 - that's 83.6 fahrenheit. And that wasn't all the time, it was the highest peak reached at one location at one time of the day. kek. I'm sure Americans laugh at that temperature, 40 celsius or 104 fahrenheit is no joke to Americans but talking about people dying kek - it's embarrassing frankly. It won't reach 40 anyway, it'll reach like 33-36, it never gets to 40 except super occasionally in continental europe.

I live in Ireland and fricking wish we got hot weather, the hotter the better - bring it on, it's freezing all other times of the year. I have never in my life felt the weather was too hot.

Imagine England playing in Qatar at the world cup thinking they're going to do well when they think literally 25 is hot.

It's ironic, isn't it? It's hot, so we turn the AC on, but having the AC on uses electricity, which is generated somewhere and generates co2, making the earth warm up even more.

Not where I live, where it's usually ten degrees cooler than the south east temp's.
Still, I work in factories and that fricking sucks but going travelling seriously gets you used to being hot and sweaty all the time.

They're selling out fast, atm I still sleep with my windows closed and no fan because I wake up to the sound of a pin dropping. Sleeping ontop of my bedsheet with no cover works absolutely fine. I seem to remember a mega-heatwave being caused by "global warming" being reported by the news like 15 years ago, that predicted a deadly heatwave to occur in the future. Maybe it was predicted for now?

What meme? All those things you can google individually, like the "ice age Britain" one, and the sea levels rising to levels that have not happened, oh and peak oil and running out of said oil.
But yeah, temperatures have increased, no where near to the degree that these climate shills and lobbyists/politicians use to scare the public.

            >But yeah, temperatures have increased, no where near to the degree that these climate shills and lobbyists/politicians use to scare the public.
Supposedly they're trying to exaggerate the increase by making everything red on weather maps now, even when it's the same temp or less.

Yeah, it's just scare tactics as usual, gets people watching and encourages support for further taxation as usual, and also gives something for politicians to get huge amounts of support for.
I hate normies so much. I work with an autist who literally looks like they're on the verge of tears if you mention anything vaguely negative. For example, we were talking about those e-scooters:
              >Me - "Someone was killed near my home riding one of those new electric scooters, because he was riding it on the road and went across a busy cross roads".
              >Her - "Oh, that's really horrible...I don't get how you can talk about death so casually" *looks like their insides have gone cold*
              >Me - "I mean, it was on the local news, I'm just saying what happened".
They also makes weird noises, shivers all the time, hiccups every day, laughs histerically loud at videos of their dog doing general things like licking something off the floor, has a really squeeky voice and generally has loads of weird ticks. They insisted on showing me how to use a hole-punch once, and what surfaces she thinks it works best on i.e. the wooden desk instead of the metal cabinet.
Went abit off topic there but basically people are fricking sheltered morons. This is what happens if you feed your kids ketchup and pasta (something they told me).

Climate change has been a thing since the beginning of this planet. Even if climate change is affected by us, I don't see much of an incentive to bring it down. China's building coal plants at a rapid pace, forests are being cut down to make room for urbanization, goods are being imported from polluting countries such as Bangladesh, etc.

A lot of this shit was actually going to happen, but appropriate action was taken in time to avoid disaster.
The ozone hole was observed and it's now observed to be shrinking. Because we banned the chemicals causing ozone depletion.
Peak oil was moved back because we found more affordable ways to reach deposits previously thought impossible/too costly to reach.

To be fair however, this is mostly the media's fault. If they would just report normally what happens then they would've highlighted these issues without sensation... And then broadcasted later on how we successfully avoided disaster. But that doesn't generate views like controversy and hysteria does.

Please consider carefully what to disregard. Because disregarding everything as sensational media hysteria is also dangerous.
If you're right and climate change is a scam all that's lost is some money, but at least the air quality well have improved which will still save millions of lives annually.
If you're wrong however it could mean something as awful as societal collapse and billions dead.

        >Hot for one week a year
        >Waste thousands on AC that won't be used the other 51 weeks

I can buy an AC for under 150usd that'll run for 10 to 15 years with preemptive care. It's much more efficient that buying a whole new air system for the house when it only gets stupid hot rarely.

Yea what’s the deal? Are there no window units available in the UK? You guys act like it’s central AC or nothing. Window units cost btw $100-$200, and you can turn your bedroom into a literal ice box. Last for a decade. When it’s no longer hot out, just yank it out of the window and shove it in your closet. Takes max 10 minutes to install or remove.

          Anonymous

Window units don't exist in Europe. We don't have windows which vertically open. That in and of itself makes getting cheap AC much more challenging. They have "portable AC" units with hoses, but it's hard to seal off the window, and the cheap ones only have a single hose, meaning they use the interior cooled air for their own cooling and also make your room low pressure, causing more hot air to come in. American window units don't actually move any air. To get the same effect in Europe, you have to get a dual hose system which sucks air from outside, brings it into the machine to exchange heat and then blows it outside. It's literally all fricking moronic.
In some ways Europe is just outrageously primitive.

I used to sleep with my window cracked 20 minutes from the Wisconsin border in Illinois. Would get around -10 average at night. I now live in central Florida and have my window open with a fan in it from October-March. Only time it closes is when I'm not home. Last winter, I slept naked with nothing but a fleece sheet because I was roleplaying guts or something. It was around 34 degrees window and ceiling fans on blast. If you were a texan who died in the winter, you'll never make it.

I’m convinced there is no heatwave. They found a couple hot days in the hemisphere and decided to make a media panic about it to keep the vague notion of “climate change” in normie skulls. Kind of like a primer. Later this year or maybe next there will be another made-up climate crisis designed to make the average person even poorer than they already are. The actual purpose of this will be to help deal with the whole inflation crisis.

Heat is the most deadly weather phenomenon in the US measured by excess death anomaly in hospital data. More than tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, floods, etc, and it’s not close. It kills a whole lot of lonely, poor, elderly people every time there’s a heat wave. AC is out and they can’t afford to fix it, or they haven’t paid the power bill, and they get overheated and die. It’s extremely sad.

Some countries are designed for heat and others aren't. UK houses retain heat because most of the time that's the most important thing for them to do. Cities, streets, houses, and people aren't used to the heat. We don't have the infrastructure or culture to deal it with it as well as other countries, ours is all set up for the cold not the hot. You can figure it out with basic common sense if you visit a country with a different climate to yours. Indoors in hot places (even without AC) are better designed to keep heat out, they keep areas shaded. Cold places retain heat and become hot boxes in the summer.

I am a bong, and I am about 40 stone/560lbs, no joke I ended up in A&E last time the temperature here went above 35 degrees.

    >sitting on my sofa, trying my hardest to stay cool
    >have 1 small electric fan blowing, but it is USB powered so plugged into my laptop which also releases heat
    >put a roomba in the cage with my pet parrot so it flaps about trying to avoid it, and blows air onto me
    >fanning myself, with a bit of card, but this is very tiring

Don't be fat and you'll be fine. I'll sit in my kids paddling pool as the paddle around me enjoying the hot weather. We will eventually break into a water fight and have a right old laugh because we are not a fat family fighting for our lives.

Are you all moronic, like clinically stupid

I'm from Brazil, some places here hit that on summer. Not common, and definitely not comfortable, but I've yet to hear about anyone dying. Just... Just maybe don't lay down on the sun? I haven't been to the 40C places but I live in a 30C-34C one. It's pretty hot. Again didnt ever hear about anyone dying from it, it's just an annoyance more than anything else, not a hazard per se
