Lifting is unironically bad for you

Redpill: Lifting is bad for your health long term

I personally have never felt healthier than when I stopped lifting. I have more energy, I am more productive throughout the day, I am friendlier to be around, I make more money, every facet of my life has improved by stopping lifting and doing exclusively cardio a few times a week.

What lifters will never tell you is that eventually the lifestyle catches up with them and they have to stop or they have to turn to pharmaceutical interventions to keep the unhealthy lifestyle going. Many lifters have to take large doses of caffeine in order to maintain their unhealthy habits and lifestyles, many more often need steroids to maintain their unhealthy lifestyles. Most lifters also secretly have back, shoulder, knee, or elbow issues that they carry with them their entire lives; despite these nagging long term issues lifters will often tell you that they are “much healthier than the general population”.

Lifting is something that’s maybe healthy for a few years in your late teens and early 20s, but it often takes such a toll that many simply age out of doing it, with the ones that feel the need to carry on their unhealthy lifestyles resorting to increasingly more complicated supplement schemes to maintain their unhealthy lifting habit.

You were over-reached. If you resumed training but with lower training volume you would make better gains while not being tired, unproductive, unfriendly, etc.

    > Redpill: Lifting is bad for your health long term

I would maybe agree if this statement wasn’t so broad. Of course you can pursue lifting in an unhealthy way. Everyone should know that if you’re overtraining with poor recovery you can actually be making yourself weaker even though you’re in the gym every day. I’m see you mentioned cardio. This is something that I have experience in with training for endurance events. You can also make cardio unhealthy over the long term. This one a a good discussion though OP. What I want to know is if there is any real answer on how to peruse endurance and lifting in the most healthy way besides moderation and working within your limits.

I agree. Lifting gave me plenty of health problems. Only a moron would think that subjecting your body to extreme pressures on a regular basis is harmless. It's a price you pay for being a strong homie. I don't plan on living long anyway, getting old is cringe.

basic bodyweight exercises are best imo. pushups, rows, squats, lunges etc. you can still load them for more challenge. I feel like these build best long term strength and conditioning

Lifting is not bad for you, but it's not particularly good for you either.

It's good if you do moderate lifting every week.

It's bad if you eat more, focus too much on protein, end up eating worse due to your lifting, spend tons of money on supplements (even if the supplement use doesn't damage your wellbeing it's a strain on your wallet that could go to better food).
