He's not wrong though. If abs were made in the kitchen, every skinny kid would have abs. Abs are a muscle like any other: while cutting helps with definition, training is required for mass.

The powerlifter cope is that just bracing during compounds is enough.

abs are muscles just like everything else. If you work them out, and they get big, they will show through the fat. That being said, the ASS, inner thighs, and tummy are the last place most people lose fat, depending on your genetics.

Anyway, the ab roller, as well as incline bench crunches with a medicine ball are based as well.

        Anonymous

problem with ab rollers is that you cant progress overload weight with it and they are even more harsh on ur lower back than the machine

          Anonymous

          that's not the problem
the problem is they require shoulder strength and it's a pain in the ass to program them in regularly

      >Abs are made in the kitchen

They do but that's a very simplistic claim, you still need to train them just like any other muscle so they pop sooner and last longer

How do I use this? I just end up using my upper body

I always thought this would just work my forearms or something until I actually tried it (I have not a great concept of physics in my head)
It's actually pretty much impossible to use anything but your abs when using this machine properly

Every time I’ve tried this machine I just feel like I’m moving the weight with my arms and my core barely activates, I don’t get it. Weighted Sit-ups are fire tho

I do the abwheel. Costs less than 1/100th of the price of a crunch machine and it's much more effective.

I have ab wheel as well but I can't learn the proper form. It's like every other rep is working something else but the abs.

Black person, I literally get the same stimulus from looping a resistance band over the top of a pull-up bar and do standing crunches with it. And, I don't have to sit on some sweat-stained chunk of metal and can do it at any gym.

      Anonymous

      >resistance band
way too much work to set it up when you can just sit on a machine designed to hit the muscle perfectly
      bands are a meme

        >throwing a rubber band over the top of a bar is more work than having to wait for a machine to open up, setting the seat height, changing the weight for resistance, getting adjusted, etc.
        This is some moronic b8

  6. 11 months ago

I started doing planks with a pl8 on my back and my abs way more visible than before. I also do leg raises with a medicine ball between my feet for lower abs.

Am i doing these wrong? Feels too easy, can max the machine out for 10+ reps with ease

This machine sucks ass for me too, I guess the ROM is too small so my back takes over. Weighted crunches and leg raises are what get the abs for me

Shit homie, do you even feel it in the abs are you throwing the momentum with other parts of your body?

Yeah i mean i don't feel it anywhere else, but it just seems too easy? Maybe I'm just moronic

Same for me with cable crunches. I now do weighted crunches on an abmat. It's one thing crossshitters got right.

I do slow eccentrics on my machine.
If you are too strong do weighted decline situps.
or maybe something else like ab wheel rollouts.
          I hear those are hard.

    Reverse Crunches 3x20 (Lower)
    Crunches 3x20 (Upper)
    Bycicle Crunches 3x20-failure (Obliques)

      yes

are they weighted? bodyweight is bullshit

They are not. Don't have the time currently to go to the gym and according to my "research" these are the exercises with the highest ROI for each muscle grp you can do at home. If anyone is interested this is my routine on Strong: https://strong.app.link/tskGAH8Hjzb

add to that leg raises (especially with more ROM, controlled eccentric and increasing difficulty through hanging n shit)
    and also ab rollers

  15. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

Got one of these for free recently. I kind of treat it like a decline sit-up I remove the bar that limits rom, go in a flat position like the start of a sit up, set the bar and crunch.

I do very slow eccentrics and it feels great. I like that I can choose where the pad goes and change the strength curve since it will feel heaviest when the lever is parallel to the floor.

Haven't tried cable crunches, but I might do those too.

Is doing abs daily a moronic idea? I enjoy swapping exercises on a daily basis but I am not sure If this is effect and need to add a rest day for abs every other day.

some muscles can take it. Abs, forearms, calves and others can cope with daily hard use.
      Well, just try it out.

Am I supposed to do them at bodyweight weigh? Because otherwise I feel nothing
My abs are more burned when doing crunches in my room than this machine
