    >Four languages from the get-go
Kid is going to be a special moron

My friend's kids' mother speaks Swedish to them, he speaks Finnish, they live in Japan where they go to an English school.

They are 13 and 11 and only language they know well is some sort of self-made Creole and other languages are poor shit.

frick off you speak 3 languages which are 95% similar and then English

Are you really going to make the argument that Japanese, English are just as similar as Finnish and Swedish when most of Finland speaks Swedish?

this shit never works, the kid chooses a favourite language and uses it one-sidedly whenever he knows the person he's speaking to understands it, then eventually grows up and forgets the rest. At best you can teach two languages this way

Agreed, a friend of mine could speak 3 languages as a kid but now he almost struggles with his main ones kek

I know a Filipino immigrant who knows 3 (English/Tagalog/Tribal dialect). As long as you have more than 1 person you converse with constantly you should stay decently sharp with all of the languages. She spoke English to Americans, dialect to her family, and watched shows with Tagalog dubbing.

I don't know who this person is or why I'm supposed to know. That being said, two native languages is best by test, more than that and your kid needs to be really smart and receive a very high level education to master all of them.

Why the frick would you do this to your child though, the kid's going to shoot his parents one day. Just give him good education and make him eat decent and do some sport and it'll be plenty. Only extremely neurotic people would treat their offspring like OP pic

Nah, teaching your kid a second language and having them learn and instrument when they're young is very valuable. I love music and would love to make music, but my parents never forced me and now I just play a hand drum like an African tribesman. I love languages and would've loved to learn another language, but I don't want to invest so much time in living in another country to learn their language.

My priorities when I have kids, inshallah, are
      >Make them feel loved
      >Be a good masculine role model. Never be angry with them.
      >Provide them a good education, private tutors for math and sciences, private schools for humanities.
      >Ensure their good social and mental development through sports, good diet, and minimizing stress.
      >and then extra skills like instruments and languages.

You're right though, kick boxing and weight training for a kid is totally moronic.

BJJ and wrestling, on the other hand, makes kids into little savages that will absolutely annihilate the other kids.

Ensure your child knows how to double leg or ankle pick a motherfricker. They'll better for it.

100%, good idea. I think best if you sign them up when they're 13/14 but don't force them to continue if they don't want to. As long as the kid is athletic and strong before that age I wouldn't think there's a problem with them being unable to fight other kids. What do you think?

Just train with your kids bro. Just think about it as something that you do, not that you’re forcing/intentionally not forcing them to do it. Just have it be what you do. Feel surprise when other parents don’t

Eh, I was born in England from Chilean parents and they've always spoken Spanish to me and I didn't turn out too terribly, just s bit socially rerarded and generally slow on conversation. Lived in Chile since I was 10. Don't think speaking different languages is what made me autistic

I actually knew a guy who spoke Korean, English and Japanese from childhood on, yet was unable to speak Korean and Japanese without confusing the two constantly. A VERY smart guy "despite" this, there just isn't a reasonable way to expect people who aren't gifted in such an oddly specific expertise to do a task like this flawlessly.

Also what will you tell the kid if AI advancements make native speaker quality real time translations possible in his lifetime? He obviously won't learn 4 languages anyways, shits just a big mess if you ask me.

They are 13 and 11 and only language they know well is some sort of self-made Creole and other languages are poor shit.

It's hard enough to learn one language well, most people aren't even particularly articulate in their first language. A language is a crap-ton of memorization and needs a good bit of immersion to stick. There's a reason true polyglots are few and far between.
Also a child's brain plasticity works in the other way too, as quick as they are to take in information they are quick to lose it if not used regularly.
In short this kid is gonna be messed up and hate his parents at best.

Picking what sports/activities your kid "will" do is gay as frick. My future kids will have to have some sort of sport, but they'll get to choose what they want to specifically do. Football? Go for it. Kickboxing? Go for it. Figure skating? Go for it. Curling? Go for it. As long as they're active and healthy I won't care.
