Keep your chest up by inhaling and don't let your upper-back round

Do standing dips on the dip assist machine if u have one, its easier to not frick up form or get hurt, once u can do those with enough weight that no matter how strong you are that the weights lift you, you will be able to do real dips more easily

If your sternum hurts it means you're literally deformed and didn't develop properly. Should've done more push ups and pull ups was a child before your bones fused I guess. You'd look wider too. Many such cases.

I wanna do dips so fricking bad but every time I implement them my sternum hurts

It's pretty common for noobs. I had it myself at the start, noob friend I've introduced had it. Just ease into it, should be fine and it will go away eventually. Depends on the severity and type of pain ofc.
        >t. former dips enjoyer
Weighted dips were always easy for me, but discovered they have zero carryover for me to the exercises I am weak in (bench and OHP) so I ditched them in favour of doing those two more often

I just like being jacked and aesthetic so I do dips of course during my chest workout as part of a superset.

Are you dipping too low? I hurt my sternum a few years back on a dip by sinking too low and insisting on pushing myself out of it.

What's this rod thing AlphaDestiny uses for dips? Where can I get one?

Found it. Just in case anyone's curious, it's called a loading pin.

        Anonymous

I've used a (smaller) loading pin for a few months, I used it for weighted pull-ups too and it works great but then I always thought what if I fall on it? Ok no big deal for a manlet but I don't wanna impale myself.

give it to me straight boys, can i really replace bench with dips and still get juicy pecs? bench makes my shoulders hurt i think

      Anonymous

No, it's a meme. Dips are great for lower pecs, but not for an overall pec development.

Dips and military press yeah (allegedly)

If you wanted juicy pecs you wouldn't be doing any heavy compounds for chest work
you would be doing hypertrophy training with either dumbbells, cables, or machines

        Anonymous

Dude almost all pro bb's who have chesticles have bench incorporated on their chest days.
Do you think you can't do compound lifts in an 8-10 or even higher rep range?

wrong anyone with a big chest can bench 315 at least now post body so we can all laugh at you

I feel my chest more during dips than barbell bench. Better rom, same with dumbbell bench.

Me too but I still have bench on my upper days and do db inclines rather then flat.
I also don't arch either and bench with a flat back with a rom like rather than l.

Yeah but do a lot of incline pressing as well so that you don’t get the saggy breasts look

Lmao look on the right of the picture dude is basically a slight movement away from accidentally unclipping.

Also who the frick ties their weighted belt like this. You go one pass through the other side. Then through the weights hole and then clip to the original side. This guy has it completely reversed and is eventually going to rip is dick off

Dips are based especially weighted and ring dips but you should still do bench, incline bench and flies.

Pretty similar to me, I can do weighted for almost equivalent reps to unweighted

      Anonymous

45 lb weighted dips is good. Most people are too weak to perform weighted dips.

        Anonymous

Yeah. I just think my bench is pretty weak. I can only bench 200 at 160lbs. Although right now I'm on a cut and I'm trying to up my weight so maybe I'm not at my full capability. 200 isn't my 1RM as I do 2 doubles and a single for strength training

      Anonymous

It's not a very good dip. You should be able to easily dip about 1.25x of your bench
