Its honestly a pretty philosophical question. What is driving a person to do something every day that he doesnt need to do? What does he get out of squatting on days you absolutely just don't want to do anything, especially the days when he was sick and there was a family death? What drives a person to keep working on themselves despite knowing the fact you may get nothing out of it in the end?

Well, he makes him self look like quite the hard working virtues man dost' he not? Ah yes look at me and my wondrous thighs. Putting my self trough all this hardship and work, could you do such a thing? Could you squat for the 543th day in a row as your old man was dying on his breakfast and you had a fever? No for only the strong are capable of such feats!

Apart from training frequency, there's so many variables to periodise training that are better than sinking 90% singles and feeling sorry for yourself everyday.

                >Self indulgent
Can you elaborate on this? Every time I hear him talk its more about him feeling more fortunate that he can keep doing this workout every day.

The guy running past my house every day doesn't upload it to YouTube with 20 minutes of faux-deep narration.

If he did, why are you paying attention to him? Wouldnt it be the same had you never watched those youtube videos? Again, he isn't telling you to watch his next video or stick around.

Conviction. He thinks he does need to and he doesn't think he'll get nothing in the end.

Sort of like meditation for me. I feel like I have to and I hope that it helps me deal with stress.

He has been barbell training for like 8 years which is going to put him close to his natty potentail without significant adjustments to his diet. He still outlifts 99% of fit that is natty. I don't really think his training method is that bad because his training volume is very low most days.
If he would eat more good foods and wasn't afraid of gaining a little weight he would get stronger.

His training method is far from optimal and probably would have made better gains with a decent program. but yeah, you can't expect to make fast gains forever.

12kg is nothing if you are noobie or even intermediate but as you get closer to a decade of training, it becomes a much more difficult and significant achievement

Shiggy diggy lads, he's wholesome as frick and his insight into life/lifting is just a pleasure to listen to.

    >b-but he doesn't progress that much

Yeah, he could pick up any proper powerlifting program, switch to low bar and probably within a year or two he'd be at 300kg squat (up from 210-215kg he's now at). He said it multiple times that he doesn't care that much about the PRs, what he likes the most is gaining insight on what works for him, how to make his body progress as a whole, etc.

Also, he diddles 260kg which is pretty fricking good for a lanklet and still manages to bench 130kg with his longass arms, literally flat back (not even the minimal arch that most benchers including people like Jenn Thompson, Larry Wheels, J Maddox use) and only training it once every 3 months or something.

It's because he's not introducing any new stimuli. Over 3 years his body has gotten used to the singles and sees no need to build new muscle. At this level, he should be constantly changing up his regimen to see gains.
