this guy is a piece of ass. who is he/any more?
>2014 is calling, it wants it fitness fad back
damn, is his backsquat stalling these days?
He does work 12 hour shifts as a nurse, so that's probably why he's not progressing as much as he should. he's also a natty.
He also never takes rest days lol
There should be a study on squat autism. No other lift causes this sort of dedication. Even bench specialists don't do this.
Squatism would take too fricking long to do a serious analysis on, willing to bet that it started with Tom Platz though
Its honestly a pretty philosophical question. What is driving a person to do something every day that he doesnt need to do? What does he get out of squatting on days you absolutely just don't want to do anything, especially the days when he was sick and there was a family death? What drives a person to keep working on themselves despite knowing the fact you may get nothing out of it in the end?
Well, he makes him self look like quite the hard working virtues man dost' he not? Ah yes look at me and my wondrous thighs. Putting my self trough all this hardship and work, could you do such a thing? Could you squat for the 543th day in a row as your old man was dying on his breakfast and you had a fever? No for only the strong are capable of such feats!
He isn't telling you that YOU can't do it though. He isn't advertising his videos and telling you to subscribe or follow. He isn't showing off how big he is, how much stronger he has gotten, or really anything that involves trying to gain attention.
If some guy ran every morning in your neighborhood, would you ask why he is a narcissist too?
jeez man you getting a bit defensive here. You okay there buddy?
Pretty cute replies. If you want to keep going back and forth like this, reply to this post as well. Otherwise, actually try answering the question unless you are still in grade school
You got needlessly defensive on behalf of another man. Which means you're either a homosexual subbed to his channel or Ivan himself.
>you needlessly got defensive
I could say the same to you about my reply to you but go ahead, act like you are someone who doesn't get into arguments or even browses IST.
>Self indulgent
Can you elaborate on this? Every time I hear him talk its more about him feeling more fortunate that he can keep doing this workout every day.
If he did, why are you paying attention to him? Wouldnt it be the same had you never watched those youtube videos? Again, he isn't telling you to watch his next video or stick around.
Sort of like meditation for me. I feel like I have to and I hope that it helps me deal with stress.
Ivan chill the frick out bro lmao
>anyone not immediately joining my anonymous shit talk of a random man is being defensive on his behalf
the class divisive thought process of a peanut brain Black person
Conviction. He thinks he does need to and he doesn't think he'll get nothing in the end.
Hi, Ivan.
Listen to his accompanying commentary. It's all rather self indulgent. All his fans are worse though because they think there's something admirable in sticking to deliberately shitty programming.
Apart from training frequency, there's so many variables to periodise training that are better than sinking 90% singles and feeling sorry for yourself everyday.
The guy running past my house every day doesn't upload it to YouTube with 20 minutes of faux-deep narration.
Narcissism?
its literally just habitual behaviour, not that deep, just like how you wanna go workout everyday (if ur based)
>not that deep
It is though, the reason being is why. You dont have to. He isn't going for any goals, he is just doing it. Haven't you ever been in a situation where you ask yourself why you keep doing something but you do it anyway?
Literally on his YouTube page it says his goal is to squat 300kg
But why on days on family death or when sick? Thats not part of the plan to squat through moments like this.
There is nothing philosophical about this at all, moron. He's doing it to appear cool, for the clout. In case you missed the memo most people don't get in shape to be healthier they do it because they think it look hotter. 90% of ISTizens are superficial and shallow.
moron. Him pondering on his motivations to squat is the philosophical aspects of it.
Lmao, confirmed for eternal dyel.
Standard projection
Squatism is a form of masochism. We enjoy the pain, and we wear our gigantic quads as trophies.
Tom Platz is a squatistic legend, but look into JC Hise, who died unmarried because he just preferred lifting and bloatmaxxing
When you first try it it's wobbly and uncomfortable
Once it clicks and your form becomes perfect you'll start enjoying squats and you'll enjoy how good your form is. The progress will be fast from there
That's all
what's his max?
468
?t=625
That's pretty low for someone who literally squatted every day for 3 years straight.
no gear, no point
speak for yourself
i went from 5kg 3x10 to 6kg 3x10 in one week
I'm unstoppable
that's not very heavy bro
yeah, but i was i walking with a cane and needing help to just get off the toilet seat 3 years ago
just being able to do bodyweight squats is good for enough me, this is icing on the cake
>captcha: hydra
cut off one leg, 4 more will grow!
because he's dirty serb
That's what gets me too. 3 years to add 12.5kg to squat is a big waste of time. He is a case study of why periodisation is important.
>3 years to add 12.5kg
What the frick. Even with the squat every day moronation how bad do you genetics have to be for this to happen?
Has nothing to do with genetics. Don't expect to make any progress if you're doing 3x the work you need to, and not eating in a surplus on top of it
He has been barbell training for like 8 years which is going to put him close to his natty potentail without significant adjustments to his diet. He still outlifts 99% of fit that is natty. I don't really think his training method is that bad because his training volume is very low most days.
If he would eat more good foods and wasn't afraid of gaining a little weight he would get stronger.
Years have nothing to do with gains you homo.
Ah yes... they 3 month newbie will surely outlift a 8 year veteran lifter.
His training method is far from optimal and probably would have made better gains with a decent program. but yeah, you can't expect to make fast gains forever.
12kg is nothing if you are noobie or even intermediate but as you get closer to a decade of training, it becomes a much more difficult and significant achievement
I have no doubt his diet is pure garbage based on his physique.
>He is a case study of why periodisation is important
Perhaps, but if you listen to him he says he doesn't care about making the most gains possible. He just wants to make squatting every day as a program work because he just fricking love squatting.
He added like 50+kg though
That’s a man that needs pic related
He has a rack, yet squats outside of it. Why?
He larps as an oly weightlifter, front squats and full depth and no racks.
He can't snatch tho
Why does he always wear basketball jerseys? Nobody in America really wears jerseys outside of game day
>Why would someone who loves basketball wear basketball jerseys to go workout?
He's not American and it's not exactly a comfortable garment
Basketball jerseys are very comfortable, they're baggy, perforated, muscle shirts.
>jeez man you getting a bit defensive here. You okay there buddy?
>>jeez man you getting a bit defensive here. You okay there buddy?
is it most efficient way to program? no, but unlike 99.9% of you he actually does it consistently and has achieved an exceptional strength score
>he actually does it consistently
Yes, he consistently hinders his progress.
surely if you know more than him you squat more than 4 plates regularly?
I do squat 4pl8, but that isn't the point here. Squatting every day is unsustainable, even if you're on gear and eating at a surplus. He's proven that himself by taking three years to add 12.5kg.
>I do squat 4pl8
no you don't, also post body
How weak are you that you think a 4pl8 squat is impressive enough for me to lie about?
jelly Black person, you cant out squat a utuber lol
Idk is 4.5 pl8 that exceptional? Even at 180lb bodyweight that should be more like 550 lb natty.
He's not built for squatting to be fair, although he 'only' deads 6pl8
For someone who lifts as consistently as he does he's not that strong.
I play rugby (so only get to lift once or twice a week for half the year) drink loads and do drugs and deadlift more than him
You're probably bigger than him
You forgot to mention your gf pegs you ever night Quad
yes, it is exceptional. 550 lbs would be Elite bordering World Class
once you reach big boy weights your progress will be slower
nobody cares about your 60 to 100kg in a year benchpress progress homosexual
lol true
I only squat one set once a week and I'm stronger haha
Squatting once a week is probably more optimal than squatting every day tbf, unless you're Bulgarian
He shills SS and exclusively runs Rippetoe programming while Rippetoe wants to kill him and his family because he is a troll. His SS Forum screename is zft. Go read some posts for lolz.
That’s fricking hilarious. Doing gods work.
Lmao based
he form mogs you and his form isnt even that good lmao pathetic
No, his form would be exceptionally bad if he had to squat 240 kg. I don't think he could even stand up. Anything is better than not being able to stand up haha
Dump truck
try keeping your heels down bud
LOL imagine critiquing a guy squatting what looks like over 200kg.
>I only squat one set once a week
it shows
congrats anon, someone is larping as you in another thread claiming he’s on SS
That anon is me and isn't larping.
Absolute machine. Ignore the dyel's
>pulls twice in a deadlift
eh nothing personnel kiddo
Frick off powershitter.
Now do it highbar, ass to grass, upright torso, flat shoes, no belt, no knee sleeves
Nobody on IST can squat you all do good mornings
Ivan has the dumbest fricking ideas
Why the frick wouldn't you use variations that train your weaknesses and hit some actual PRs instead of failing a deadlift attempt every single day
Every time he tries something new it's a moronic idea like curls or bodyweight squats
He would be so much stronger if he actually had a structured program and rest days.
Also he never takes his family on vacation at least for the weekend, think about that guys. They have to put up with his autistic lifting obssesion.
he doesn't follow any sort of planned progression from what I've seen, not really surprising that his numbers stalled.
why go against everything we know about training and conditioning? his recovery is ass, of course he will fail lifts often
why does this homosexual wear a basketball jersey in nearly every video? and why do i secretly want to frick his ass?
240 patrons and almost 1000 videos getting youtube bux. maybe he's just carrying on for the money.
I went from a 225 squat to a 380 squat in 5 months. Awful genetics too. I could not imagine making any progress past 250 with that doofy looking front squat on your back tbing he's doing. If he made it to 468 he's a stronger guy than me but might be leaving a lot on the table. He could get more if he changed how he does it.
I just wanna say I've been skipping leg day for 4 years and this guy's channel helped motivate me to change that and now I actually look forward to squat day, incredible, thanks Ivan
He has built a decent Youtube channel out of it, id say thats some progress there.
I found his vids interesting at first but after the first 10-15 it's all the same shit
> I think I figure out something, I'm getting there
Adds a new lift in the rotation
>yes.. Yes that was what I was missing I felt weak in x and y and now it will work
Fails pr on lift
>I think it's because I'm weak on this and that I need to add this and remove the new lift
Adds a new lift in the rotation
>that's I guys, now I can really feel my x and y engage with that new exercise and I'm sore
Tries new pr and fail
>I think I finally figured it out guys
This tbh. If not 10-15 then definitely 30-60 it absolutely starts to repeat. I'll probably check back in for day 1000 though
At this point I just watch for the aussie cuties in leggings in the background
>it's all the same shit
this. i don't get how anyone is still listening to his rambling
He uploads at around the time I wake up (5am in my time zone), I like to leave his videos in the background while I make coffee and prepare to head out to the gym
>nearly a 130kg bench
That's not too bad how long has he been training?
Also he looks really high bodyfat recently. That's certainly not helping him when hes far outside his optimal hormone range
>Disrespecting Ivan
Shiggy diggy lads, he's wholesome as frick and his insight into life/lifting is just a pleasure to listen to.
>b-but he doesn't progress that much
Yeah, he could pick up any proper powerlifting program, switch to low bar and probably within a year or two he'd be at 300kg squat (up from 210-215kg he's now at). He said it multiple times that he doesn't care that much about the PRs, what he likes the most is gaining insight on what works for him, how to make his body progress as a whole, etc.
Also, he diddles 260kg which is pretty fricking good for a lanklet and still manages to bench 130kg with his longass arms, literally flat back (not even the minimal arch that most benchers including people like Jenn Thompson, Larry Wheels, J Maddox use) and only training it once every 3 months or something.
>lanklet
>long arms
idk who you're describing but it isn't Ivan
Being a lanklet with long arms is ideal for deadlifts you moron. Also I wouldn't say Ivan is a lanklet.
I honestly just enjoy listening to his ramblings while lifting as background noise. His philosophy on lifting is pretty dumb, but he's enjoying it and that's what really matters in the end. Also just like his "work hard" mentality he has on life, it keeps me motivated.
He just hit a new squat PR for both back and front the other week.
It's because he's not introducing any new stimuli. Over 3 years his body has gotten used to the singles and sees no need to build new muscle. At this level, he should be constantly changing up his regimen to see gains.
