apparently women are not a big fan of traps
I would suggest doing neck exercises instead
    thick neck > big traps

Already got a pretty good neck, but furthermore is there aren’t rly any good neck excercisea. I’ve never seen a gym irk that has that neck weight machine and just doing them non weighted isn’t the best.
Nothing gives u a better v taper than properly trained traps.

This. I work my traps heavily because for some reason it feels awesome, i like what I see in the mirror and they are necessary for a good deadlift.

There are many reasons a woman will dislike me but “omg his upper trapezius are too big for my taste”.

Developed traps and necks are what separates the men from the boys. You'll never be truly masculinely handsome with a pencil thin nerd neck. Look at this fricking superhero of a man and tell me his traps don't complement him well

I do, but the problem is over developed traps can make your frame look rounded and diminish your shoulders to give you that capped look. I try to balance that and find good posture helps, but a lot of dudes don't train their rear delts or their supinating shoulder muscles to help them not slouch. Add to that the hours people spend on their phones and keyboards and over developed traps can make you make your frame look way off and really pronounce bad posture by making you look slouched over even more.

Traps are important, but shoulder training is more important if you want to have have that large frame look. Cavaliere is a meme, but facepulls was a lifesaver for my shoulders and got me started on a lot more supinating and rear delt workouts that helped me look better than trap training did.

Great post anon and I completely agree.

Fir mer personally my shoulders have exploded in looks past few months. Huge help in that is as you say rear delt excercuses. That one cable exercise where u drag it slightly behind you with one arm is godtier for it. Not sure what the actual name of it is.

Also lat raises where u bend way forward while sitting hits rly good. + reverse lat raises.

And yeah facepulls is a must.

Overall DB Shrugs > BB Shrugs unless your gym doesn't have heavy DB and/or you got a weak grip strength.

      this

If you do them properly you should eventually be able to shift ur back several centimeters backwards.
The real horror is most people got so bad posture (myself included) that our necks and by that extension our heads are positioned several cm further ahead than it should be.

I’ve gotten to the point now where I legit feel like passing out when I move my head and neck in the correct posture, meaning I’m slowly moving the entire bone structure back in place.

But it’s ridiculously hard considering 99% of us have to sit infrint if a computer at minimum 8 hours a day to make money

Not really, working your traps are primarily for pulling up. Hence shrugs. What you really want to do is have a good balance with your chest. Overdeveloped chests (compared to back) are a huge reason why a lot of bodybuilders have that slouched look. The muscles to counteract the pulling effect your chest will naturally have on your shoulders are underdeveloped. Those muscles are primarily your scapulae and the rear delts.

So rear delts, along with training the supinating muscles on the shoulder (yes, facepulls) will help with posture. Traps may help incidentally, but that's not what is responsible for good posture.

Also, proper posture is a conscious thing a lot more now because of we sit at a keyboard, or are looking down on our phones so much more. So you will have to actively think about it until it becomes natural.

Kind of, rear delts and mid/lower traps do more, and abs if you have anterior pelvic tilt like most people.

Make sure you're doing compound shrugs - start with shoulders protracted + dumbbells slightly in front of you, shrug the weight up, retract your shoulder blades right back, let the weight drop, shrug the weight up again, and roll your shoulders forward to the start position.
Hits traps, rhomboids + rear delts fairly evenly.

Try doing dumbbell shrugs using straps. You might think it's silly using straps, but your traps are much stronger than you think, you can do a lot more reps if your forearms aren't telling your body to stop shrugging.
