Only 14 year olds think nihilism is anything substantial

Nah, people my age (zoomers) embraced nihilism and consumerism.

It makes sense. Being 14 is shit but everyone tells you it's the best time of your life.

          >Being 14 is shit
14 is where you start having sex for the first time, start getting drunk with your friends for the first time, start your first relationship, form bonds with peers. It's a great time

14 is when I was getting my pp sucked regularly, smoking da reefer, first relationship, with friends who I hung out with regularly. It was the worst fricking time of my life. I was a stupid kid, only thing I cared about was sex and drugs, wanted to move to california. It was a big waste of time on a pointless emotional rollercoaster. My head is clearer and I can focus on my goals now which is much more rewarding than anything else I have ever done.

Unfortunately more than 14 year olds, and they read spark notes of books and get all the wrong messages out of it. I remember when I first read Nietzsche and realizing how wrong media and brainlets portrayed it. I also talked to some philosophy majors and I hope this isn't the norm, but I swear they couldn't discuss anything about the major works, even when they brought up the topic.

Don't diss my man Marcus. It's much more than that. Meditations is short and quick, read it. Don't take full stoicism to heart ofc but there's tons of great stuff in it.

I have a really hard time being hopeful about the future. I don't think the system is working. We're just going to sit back as resource depletion and climate change destroy our societies because changing it before that happens is too hard. I look at the late bronze age collapse and feel like we're headed for that but on a global scale and leading to billions of deaths. I don't know what to do about it. Our civilization relies on fossil fuels for literally everything, but they're finite resources that are destroying the planet.

        >they're finite resources that are destroying the planet
lookup abiotic oil. Also even if climate change were as real as they said, look at how they handle it. It's all a backscratching scheme with a bunch of crazy plans for control dumped in. They never propose a single thing that makes sense. For instance, instead of even talking about upping rail freight infrastructure which would help alleviate road wear, traffic, fuel consumption, and ultimately cost they propose fricking wind turbines and chinese solar panels which don't even pay off their carbon cost to create in energy production for like 15 years and upping the cost of your highly efficient gas turbine power plants. It's a fricking joke and you're falling for it. If you care, push for plans that make sense.

I said Kant was an autistic weirdo who took "logic" so far into the extreme it killed everything to the last philosophy major I talked to. I didn't word it like that but that was the point. It was pretty clear he didn't read Kant or Schopenhauer even though he said he did. Anecdotal I know but still. That was his major and he was pretty fresh out of college.

There is a bunch of homosexual philosophy majors who think they are wise and enlightened because they study philosophy, but in reality they study stupid shit like whether the pythagoreans ate beans or not because it resembled testicles (yes, im serious, it was 20 pages long)

Most people are fake frauds in general. Maybe 5% of people can do the things they say they can do, or what their jobs are about. Most people literally do not put any effort into matters of the mind and do not read.

People who study philosophy at university are not smart. They will never amount to anything substantial in their thinking. There's no reason for you to be taught philosophy. If you need to, then you're not smart enough to do anything with it. It's like sales tactics. People who reach the top don't need the training.

Can you actually point out anything wrong with what I said, or does the average hope fan just insult people who point out the impending cascade failure of our civilization, and pretend the storm isn't coming?

Okay, I'm going to entertain your thoughts for a minute here:
Can you actually point out how, why, and when exactly "civilization" (whatever that implies) is going to fail instead of >muh climate change?
What exactly does a civilization fail entail?
If it's such a big issue for you, what are YOU doing to prevent it (except for whining about it on a mongolian basket weaving forum?)
Or if you think it cannot be prevented anymore, what are YOU doing to prepare for it?

If you actually believe in the so called "climate change" then you must be as moronic to believe the main issue is that we still use fossil fuels and that they frick the planet.

Right because digging up 100 million tons of buried carbon and burning it every single day for 200 years definitely has no impact on anything. And all that plastic killing the oceans is naturally occurring, right?

Even beyond climate change, resource depletion has us completely fricked. Trucks are used for literally everything, how are we going to continue if they don't have a power source? And don't say "better batteries" because those are also finite resources.

Brother the evidence is there. The issue is the rate of temperature change that is happening. I guess there just happens to be record breaking temperature increases almost every year.

You are brain washed by media and politicians bought out by big oil. Like jesus christ do you honestly believe that what we put out into the air has no effect on the environment?

      >worrying about this large-scale shit that you have literally no control over
moronic, all it does is cloud your mind with negative thoughts. Just focus on yourself and your life. Stop paying attention to "politics" and the "news". It literally doesn't matter and is just a distraction.

Based thinker. Optimism is not about blindly carrying on, trusting everything will be alright.
You own yourself. That's what you need to be worrying about.

Cringe. You cant even see tomorrow with your head up your ass. You're high on oil cope and Disney-brand "hope."
Answer: if infrastructure fails next week, what are you going to do with your own, literal, shit? What are you going to eat?

I got schizo enough to start growing my own vegetables and I barely use my car (bicycle and running enjoyer), now stay mad and cope while my tomatoes are growing.
