meal replacement thread

are any meal replacements reasonably healthy?

in my research onions is the most famous. it's cheap, the taste is fine. but who the frick wants to consume that much onions? frick that shit.

Ample seemed like a great alternative but I tried it and it tastes like shit. Who cares about the health factor is the taste is bad?

Huel, I'm currently looking into. The only problem is, I think I would have to buy a $50 12 pack to try it. I'm not seeing anyway to get it for less in the US. You can't buy a single bottle.

Ketochow seems like an okay option but you have to mix it yourself, and you have to add butter that you melt, and then let the whole thing sit in the fridge for a few hours before you drink it which is a minor inconvenience. but it also means washing out a blender bottle everyday. and i don't particularly care about a ketogenic diet. i just want to cut calories and save time. though, i think it's great to use butter as your fat instead of seed oils.

Super body fuel I have tried. Similar to ketochow, you have to mix it on your own and you have to refrigerate it before you drink it. The taste is fine. If Huel doesn't work out, I guess I'll go with this slop.

Any other suggestions? I'm not even working out. I just want to lose like 20 or 30 pounds by consooming less. Honestly, I don't want to lift, I want to do yoga or something and increase flexibility and lower bodyfat.

My joints and tendons are fricked.

Meal replacement plans are all fricking moronic for losing weight. Ironically the only people I know who use/used them were skellies looking to add one to their existing meals to bulk up a little bit.
You will get bored, you will cut corners and you will fail your weight loss.
Just eat large volume, low calorie meals.

      Mine:
1 unripe banana because I don't keep them around long enough to ripen
      500 ml milk
2 BIG spoons of JIF brand JIF
      2scoop of protein(blueberry muffin)
oats sometimes if I've been having sloppy shits
      5g creatine

really gets me going in the mornings

They're all oatmeal or basedmeal plus a vitamin with extra steps. Just buy bulk high protein grain, supplement with beans, produce, and milk.

Nevermind, if you wanna lose weight you have to look at high satiation index foods. Prioritize eating potatoes, fibrous vegetables like eggplant and beans, and lean protein like fish and chicken breast. Season with MSG if your food tastes too bland.

If your joints hurt try this. While I understand this shake may sound disgusting it is very tasty. Secondly you will lose weight with it and while I used to be a vegetables don’t do shit for inflammation type person this shake helps a lot. Buy a nutri ninja blender. Place 1/2 a cucumber, half a whole lemon including seeds and rind, two whole Roma tomatoes, small piece of ginger with skin, 1/2 teaspoon powdered hidden valley ranch mix, salt, pepper to taste, optional hot sauce, and water. Blend it up and drink. Add a piece of chicken breast on the side. You’ll be full as hell and after a couple days your joints will feel better.

Holy shit dude why are you even asking what you need to eat, when you should really be asking what you shouldn't eat.

Mind over matter my dude. Change your thinking to change your body.

There’s a great screenshot of a post by a personal trainer floating around where he talks about his additive our western consommé culture is and how the reflexive answer to weight loss for the western mind involves buying and consooming more in order to consoom your way out of the problem, which is what we’ve been taught to do with our problems. He doesn’t use the word consoom or anything, it’s an old post and he was ahead of his time. Obviously diet shakes are fricking moronic and only people with no understanding of nutrition would buy them and then they would likely go home and add them to their diet without subtracting anything else. Many, many 21st century westerners are appalled at the suggestion that they should eat less and have a vague notion that it is extremely dangerous to do so.

I fully agree with your notion. People in the western world are raised to be consumers. Even politics and socio-economical problems are now prepared as bite-sized, consumable products just like any snack food.

That being said there is no true ideal diet, but there are close contestants. A better strategy is to simply have a healthy mindset, as believing you are unhealthy will trigger a daily nocebo (opposite of placebo) effect. The brain has very strong neurological pathways with the hormone, digestive and immune system.

        Again, mind over matter.

And I'm not a hippy for saying there are neurological implications to your diet and lifestyle you obtuse smooth brain.

no off the shelf product will be reasonably healthy for this purpose unless you're willing to dish out stupid money at whole foods.
You shouldn't be using meal replacements all the time anyway because you will digest liquid food differently than solid food physiologically.
Just make your own smoothie. Here's what I do and it's around 1000 Calories:
    >oats
    >berries
    >3-4 Tbsp almond butter
    >almond milk
    >kefir milk
    >honey
    >protein powder of your choice (chocolate works best but other flavors are fine) (and honestly this is optional)
it tastes great and gives you energy for a while

Sounds like you already found your answer.
If it tastes good, drink it.
    Whats the problem with sõy?
Otherwise I am pretty happy we have yfood in germany. Comes bottled, is milk based and tastes good.
