        The standard western diet is full of inflammatory things that shouldn't be and never were food until about 150 years ago, now these things are standard fare that you eat every single day, every single meal.

        Here's the thing. Our ancestors didn't have access to these foods. Even the past 9000-14000 years when we've had agriculture, we haven't had access to them. Polyunsaturated fat is about 2% of ancestral diets from modern hunter gatherer tribes no matter if they eat primarily fricking coconuts or red meat.
        When you eat seed oils, they're already well on their way to complete oxidation on the store shelf. Then they enter your bloodstream as fats do, and the oxidized byproducts have literally been scientifically proven to damage LDL.
        Then there's blood sugar. Unchecked levels of blood sugar due to insulin resistance is pretty damn common nowadays. So is eating oxidized crap. When your blood sugar is too high, your LDL is susceptible to damage called glycation.
        Cholesterol is a very tightly controlled system in your body. You need the right amount in the right places in order to build cell membranes and countless other functions. A checks and balances of sorts exists within your liver where it can recognize lipoproteins containing cholesterol and regulate their number and use within the body. It recognizes them based on the proteins.
        When you have oxidative stress paired with high blood sugar, you get oxidized and damaged LDL particles that your liver cannot recognize as a functioning lipoprotein, so it stays in circulation and you even have systems that attempt to take care of and dispose of it safely. However, when you're dumping too much load on this system, it starts to break down, it can't handle this much oxidized LDL, and it continues to circulate and accumulate into larger particles which then deposit into your inflamed endothelium. This happens long enough and you've got a blocked artery. Then you're dead

    We have industrial agriculture and most foods are fortified now, we aren't doing subsistence farming anymore and don't need to rely on meat.

    Milk, cheese, and eggs are more than enough, nice to have but not even essential as you can get all the protein you need from legumes, all the iron you need from leafy greens and cereals, all the B vitamins you need from milk and bread.

            I ditzed around in the gym for a year in highschool but wasn't really doing anything productive, probably hit 1pl8 bench 2pl8 squat and never deadlifted. I played varsity basketball, 100m/400m/800m track, and ultimate frisbee in high school. I spent several summers as a backcountry guide doing canoe trips so got decent shoulders and upper back from that, that shits hard work. Before I started lifting I was pretty much just cycling and running for a couple years so I was skinny as shit, except my quads. I started lifting in February when the gyms opened up, hopped on GOMAD and AMRAP fork pickups, and lifted 5 days a week. I'm barely 170lbs in this pic at a little over 6ft.

    The real reason is less because they have a problem of people eating meat and the health impacts on people, but because they have some weird autistic savior complex towards Africa. They want to believe their own liberal propaganda so they have to do everything to prop Africa up in order to justify their belief system. So they need more and more food supplies for this product, and the more people are eating meat, which is more resource intensive, the less food they can provide.

    First they “solve” medical problems in Africa by supplying free medicine and services so mortality rate goes down, allowing a larger population growth and less children dying in early childhood. Then there are more people that they can possibly sustain, so they have to subsidize their foods through charities grown in other parts of the world. Then they don’t have enough viable water, so they need to send in charities to build new wells and find new ways to get water to the communities.

    The reality is if the west did nothing and just left Africa alone their population would collapse, but they would be able
    to once again sustain themselves and would live more happy and fulfilling lives. It would free up more resources in the west, and would create less social pressures from immigration. Overall everyone would benefit in the long run, but this is assuming that you think it’s morally okay for Africans to live according to their current realities and have to contend with the forces of nature (which would be a more fulfilling life for them) as opposed to thinking that it’s better for them to be social charity leeches (which is less fulfilling for them).

                Eh idk I think if a given fat person trains hard enough then some carbs isn't the end of the world, assuming that they're limiting it to the end of the day and not jacking up their insulin levels all day. If nothing else, the Vertical Diet could be a nice transition into keto or carnivore if you needed to go that route to keep the fat coming off or just like the way it feels.

      The main issue is that a vegan diet isn’t what our ancestors ate hundreds of years ago. It’s not hard to figure out why this is a reasonable presumption. Figure out your MBR (probably 1800 - 2000) and then buy 2K calories of fruits and veggies.

      If it looks like it’s too much to find in a single day of scavenging, you would probably be right. Meanwhile, it was relatively easy to hunt something and it wasn’t hard to get 2K calories per day from eating meat.

    If everyone expects cheap meat for every meal every day then the only way is factory farms and a lot of them will have terrible lives for the animals. Eating like that means making a lot of animals live in pain and stress their entire lives.
    Vegans over-correct but there would barely be any vegans in the world if people only ate meat from good farms or hunting. Buying the bad meat isn't any less bad than torturing animals for fun, which almost everyone seems to oppose.

      Here are the main concerns with a vegan/vegetarian diet.
      1. Some amino acids are less common in vegetables and legumes than in meat. This isn't an issue unless your diet is incredibly monotonous, but if you're concerned you can use a tracker like Chronometer to see amino acid breakdown.
      2. Iron deficiency is common in every diet, but especially vegetarians because of the lack of red meat. Most breakfasts cereals are iron fortified so a bowl of cereal in the morning and you'll be right, or you can get iron supplements or eat spinach.
      3. B vitamins are another concern, however milk and most onions milks (maybe oat/rice/almond too?) are fortified with B vitamins. Usually cereals are too, so your breakfast cereal can do double duty. You can also buy B12 supplements.
      4. Fats. A "normal" American diet is very high in fats so it's not something people consider, but if you go full vegan you run the risk of limiting your fats which isn't great for hormonal balance.

      That's it really. Leucine, iron, B12, and fats if you've gone full rabbit.
