Yeah, lunch breaks were the worse. I never ate anything on the job besides maybe some jerky and a snickers bar and a bottle of water. I knew guys who would eat drive through food like no tomorrow and "gut-bombs" before going to a 4 hour pack and load.

No drive time in the metro area, out of city gets drive time as well as intrastate moves. NDT means no travel besides from A to B destination if I can remember. DT is all around drive time from everything. 24 per hour wasn't too bad doing 40 hour work week averages with tip

I actually stopped doing conventional lifting and instead just find really large and heavy pieces of furniture to lift with. I use file cabinets, metal chairs, backboards, boxes full of random books, thick wooden tables, and even a antique fire safe that weighs at least 60 lbs. I do a couple sets of curls, a few sets of goblet squats, some press and cleans, deadlifts, and one arm presses. I also do calisthenics literally anywhere I go just to stretch and get some kind of exercise in my day. Couple this with a fighting sport and a proper diet you'll pretty much get real functional strength that isn't as controlled as barbells. Fuck, you will actually get new maxes on things like deadlifts if you did this. I remember working as a full-time mover a few years ago and couldn't go to a gym for the longest time. But when I did get back to lifting, I found that I increased my deadlift from 275 all the way to 315 x 5.

Also, you just look like a fucking sick cunt lifting a file cabinet over your head in front of your girlfriend instead of a barbell.

People who romanticiz unskilled manual labor need a serious reality check. Imagine destroying your body, yes, destroying it, doesn’t matter how tough you are hard labor for hours a day is destroying your body, for a menial wage, then pretending like this isn’t a situation to be desperately avoided.
Aristocracy has shunted hard labor into the slave classes since the dawn of civilization. Roman laborers died in their thirties with their bodies in disrepair.
To say nothing of the trades, these harm you’re body but pay well. Fine trade off so long as you aren’t just doing level one shit until you’re fifty.

I hope you're not talking about prehistoric hunter and gathers. You know, they spent hours trekking through harsh lands and weather to hunt for food that they had to slowly drag back to the camp. Mix this with constantly trying to keep a fire going, repairing or making new tools, skinning and cleaning out the recent hunt. Life wasn't just sitting around, their was work that benefited them directly. Have you ever hunted with a spear? And dragging it back to your truck at the very least? It's not an easy task, now imagine doing that everyday.

              Anonymous

              >rodents
They probably ate each other before rodents just from not knowing how to snare or trap, probably benefited them more since rodents carry plenty of diseases and yield barely any nutritional value a caribou or small boar would have.
              >Fish
              Eh, maybe.
              >yeah that wasn't everyday all day, probably just a few hours max
True, they didn't do it every hour on the hour. However, most of the day was spent doing that and depending on the size of the tribe. They would have to kill a new one everyday just to maintain weight. Sleeping and fat was especially needed for winter, cold climates, and overall energy. If they were not sleeping or resting, they were doing something. Always moving and always doing something.

The minute you drive into the parking lot you will start to dry heave, after the first couple months, you will get used to it a little bit. Combine this with constant cigarette smoke and you're in for a good time. Any pungent and unhealthy stench isn't good, but at least you could take the suit off. For me and for the black guy I was working with, you just had to bare the stench and lift them boxes like nobody else. Everyday, even holidays. I remember the only day we got off was when some moron got his arm stuck in a sort of compression machine and it cleaned it from his body.
