Mouthpiece

Does anyone have experience with using mouthpieces in the gym?

I'm not a power lifter, but with how hard I clench my jaw during heavy lifts I feel like I'll break my teeth one day.
In fact, I've got a little crack in one of my teeth already and I have no idea how it got there. The only thing I can think of is the gym.

why do you clench your jaw?
how on earth does that help your other muscles?
I swear all the grunting and stuff in the gym is performative.

Worlds strongest man Mitchell Hooper uses a mouth guard and says gritting teeth Increases his lifts... But I guess I'll just trust some depressed obese anonymous shitposter on an autism forum instead.

I really don't wanna deal with IST/reddit autism today. Google.com And type in "gritting teeth strength performance" and read the many studies if you want or you can just go back to telling everyone they are wrong on the Internet

Correlation is not causation, by what mechanism does clenching my jaw make my other muscles work better?
Normies tricking themselfs with placebo into thinking they can push harder is bullshit.

              >Mitchell Hooper is a normie
Other than being the strongest man on Earth he also has a.masrers degree in Kinesiology. He said he thought maybe it was placebo at first too but is convinced it's the truth. There is a ton of research in the field and they have mouthpieces now where you can breathe while gritting your teeth.

Do you guys get 25 cents deposited every time you act like a stupid homosexual on the Internet?

I came to this conclusion watching fat red men grunting while lifting light weights.
Its like they have to show off how 'hard' they are working lol

Listen morons, if you are going to clench your teeth, wear a device.
Thats all I care about, dont damage your teeth over your own lifting autism lol

supposedly it has something to do with the PNS
tensing your muscles makes other muscles stronger, idk
consider that your average mom could lift a car with enough adrenalin, even though she'd tear her muscles and fracture something

        as :

funnily enough this article shows jaw clenching isnt the only thing you can do, it shows that OPENING your mouth as hard as possible or doing vertical jumps has similar effects.

I postulate that grinning as hard as you can could have similar 'effects'

I think the same effect can be obtained without the jaw clench,

if you do clench, then use a guard ffs

Reread my first sentence moron. I'm clearly and obviously asking for experiences.
But even I wasn't, what does it matter to you? Why even bother replying to my post? Are you a fricking spast or something? A normal person would just ignore it.
Imagine acting like this in real life, you would either get beaten up or have zero friends. likely both.

Unless you're like dipshit OP and apparently clenching so hard he's gonna bust his teeth. You morons will lift better if you control that interference.

I tend to breathe through my mouth and nose for more air. I also like to smile a bit while lifting too. Way of wiring the mind and body that this is a great thing they're doing.

It's not a bad idea to try, the crack in your teeth could very possibly be from training. People who've done alot of strenght intense training (like lifting or wrestling) often have gritted down molars from clenching their jaws.
There's also enough evidence that our bite force is directly related to our maximum strengh potential. A bad bite even messes up your balance.
This video showcases just how important jaw strenght and alignment is important and commonly overlooked for general fitness.

i tried one of these because i my teeth have wearing from clenching. ended up not liking it and 99% my clenching is from doing it in my sleep. Maybe you will like it though?

All the stuff about these increasing full body tension and making you lift more is obviously bullshit.
