There are a lot of mcdojos marketed to bjjers, more than any other style. I've never done it, just my observation.

Learn it. It is good. Don't drink the cool aid. Ufc is fake. A heavyweight can crack open your skull and an 85 lb woman can knock anyone out with a head kick done right.

It's a tough sport. You will get banged up pretty good and it takes years to become proficient in it. If you commit to it, the things you learn from it are life changing. The confidence you get from knowing you can control another human being feels pretty good too.

I did it for 9 months, tbh I think it'd be better to get really good at wrestling and learn the basics of BJJ. Decided to leave my gym because I went back to college and there is a gym 5 mins away for half the price. Realized it was cult when the owner tried to force me to stay, told me I shouldn't be going to college lmao

It's fun, but you probably want to learn some judo or mma wrestling because it's not going to teach you takedowns - and its unusual in grappling sports that there's usually a mutual agreement about who's playing bottom, instead of both fighting to stay on their feet.

      >because it's not going to teach you takedowns

THERE IS NOT ONE FRICKING BJJ SCHOOL WITHIN 100000 MILES OF MY CITY THAT DOESN'T HAVE 2X A WEEK WRESTLER TEACHING CLASSES ON TAKEDOWNS.

YOU ARE TALKING 1990 BJJ HERE homosexual. NO SCHOOL DOESN'T HAVE WRESTLING OR JUDO.

MY SCHOOL HAS A ROMANIAN BRONZE MEDALLIST TEACHING WRESTLING.

Great cardio. It's really making my cut so much easier and it's so fun too.
Really recommend it, take a beginner class if a nearby gym has it.
I feel really good after class it's insane, it's sort of like lifting in the sense that it will help deal with depression.

It's kind of dumb but can be a lot of fun. It's really hard to get mediocre so that is somewhat depressing. It will frick your body up even if you're careful. 12 years training, bjj brown belt.

IT'S GOOD. FUN MARTIAL ARTS JUST STAY AWAY FROM THE CULTY ASPECT OF IT. PEOPLE FALL TOO IN LOVE. JUST GO, TRAIN, AND LEAVE.

IF YOU BUY MORE THAN 2 GIS YOU ARE A homosexual.

STICK TO THE BASICS. DON'T TRY THE NEW AGE BJJ SHIT. LISTEN TO ROGER GRACIE AND WHY HE'S SUCCESSFUL, FRICK THE REST. FIND A SCHOOL THAT GOES GI, NO GO AND STREET STUFF.

AND TAKE MY ADVICE: KISS. PEOPLE MAKE IT MORE COMPLICATED THAN IT IS.

    >recreationally
an additional layer of hubris and artificial elevation within the genetic heirarchy, almost exclusively for small men who feel small and whose lives revolve around proving to the world that they arent a prey item for predator. most people don't even think about how they'd handle a fight like this, they either don't remain in an escalating situation long enough or they they are able to naturally de-escalate. they are not walking around eyeing up other men, internally simulating how a sudden street fight with them would go, they are not clenching their cheeks and checking their shoulder as men who were born many layers above them in the heirarchy pass slowly behind them.

    >professionally
either a specialized form of martial arts in itself, performed for money and fame, or otherwise a facet of MMA that has to be at the very least understood in order to compete at a high level, they get paid millions of dollars to be good at a thing, it is completely separate from any kind of self-validation or emotional and physical defenses.

sports in general tend to be a route for weak men to vicariously live through physical champions, , cheated out of a human culture that raises all men to be champions and that sense of belonging to a tribe
