I do behavioral health research at a cancer hospital, and I work with cannabis users almost daily. My study participants are all either successful professionals who use it 1-2 times per month, quality product, or they’re street scum who live on government assistance and would be better off dead, using shit product. >A vice is a practice, behaviour, or habit generally considered immoral, sinful, criminal, rude, taboo, depraved, degrading, deviant or perverted in the associated society. In more minor usage, vice can refer to a fault, a negative character trait, a defect, an infirmity, or a bad or unhealthy habit.

                > >A vice is a practice, behaviour, or habit generally considered immoral, sinful, criminal, rude, taboo, depraved, degrading, deviant or perverted in the associated society.

Lifetime usage is roughly 1/3 for Americans, 1/6 within the previous 12 months. Attitudes towards legality and morality of use have shifted dramatically just in the last 10 years. So none of the first half of your post really applies to cannabis in a meaningful way; it’s only taboo to a shrinking minority.

                >>In more minor usage, vice can refer to a fault, a negative character trait, a defect, an infirmity, or a bad or unhealthy habit.

None of these apply to cannabis without falling back on the kind of pearl clutching you refer to in the first half of your post, which I’ve already demonstrated doesn’t apply to cannabis. Use of cannabis does not constitute a vice in any sense of the definition you provided.

In the real world, you'll definitely catch a bad look if you express any disdain or repulsion for people afflicted with a mental disorder, but I'm starting to ask myself what the actual consequences of doing so really are; most of the people with bipolar/borderline/histrionic, etc. are out of my life, and I feel content.

Yeah, this is an obvious logical fallacy. OP also mentioned that the highly successful people use it 1-2 times a month, which means those individuals possess high impulse control, which is a defining characteristic of highly conscientious individuals. That's the primary difference.

Fortunately their pharmacokinetics are similar when you dichotomize by SES, so it’s not a confound we really need to worry about when putting out papers, but obviously shades of grey exist in between.

That, or they're just somewhere between highly embellished and flat out bullshit, or at most simply show that a functioning smoker is *not* ever the kind of person who feels the need to evangelize about his drug of choice the way that dudeweedbros do. That’s a variation on my primary belief. My degen participants are unemployed usually, so they can come in; usually if they reschedule it’s because they slept through and alarm or some nonsense. My professionals usually come in before or after work, or a lunch break, and if they reschedule it’s work or family related and they are totally reliable otherwise. I’d imagine wagecucks can’t get a day off to sit around for 6 hours getting high for a study.

This is more about you KNOWING they're cannabis users. Responsible, respected people don't blaze up in public. Don't tell everyone about it. Don't invite others. These are the people smoking a bowl in their living room after a long day. Not the ones doing it socially, or recreationally.

The fact that you know they smoke weed is a symptom of them being losers. Only losers make their life all "420 YOLO!11". They're just gays. Well-behaved people know better and so you never hear about it.

Anecdotal evidence for sure, but I'd consider myself a habitual user (2-3x/week), but fairly successful in life, at least financially. I work as a partner at a market making firm (basically finance) doing quantitative development and research. Last year I pulled $1.2 million after bonuses. I'm definitely dyel, only started lifting for the past 6 months, but I don't find any problems with weed and motivation.

IMO your statement is not half wrong

        > help but _notice_ 95% of habitual users are losers

That's the crux of the statement - what you notice. There's a selection bias here, where the people who are obvious habitual users tend to be the ones who advertise the frequency of their use. In other words, what you are "noticing" is probably not an accurate representation of the true distribution of cannabis users.

So yes, your statement is probably technically correct, but the implied statement "95% of habitual users are losers" is wrong

This is the reason everyone under the age of like 40 claims they have some kind of mental health disorder.

People always complaining about anxiety and depression and shit, yet they are getting 5 hours of sleep and living off goyslop and staring at screens for 10 hours a day.

weed is literally 99% GMO these days. my buddy shit on me the other day for eating an apple with the skin on because “it has roundup on it,” then proceeded to take a bong rip of his chemical laden THC plant that’s changed hands from mexico to a fucking trap house. also, weed is being pushed by the government to literally mentally neuter as many young men as possible, making them passive and effeminate.

Gangsters and shooters play basketball, rob, kill, fight, and smoke weed all day every day. Weed does not make you effeminate at all.

I don't disagree. Now consider taking the Black brain with it's non functional risk assessment programming and introduce a non stop flow of substances that reduce any and all inhibitions or precaution in every situation. That is how you get these daily occurrences of black shooters who kill multiple people in broad day light on camera. Weed has nothing to do with this. For example, locate the Philadelphia news stations garden gnometube channels and watch some of the shit they catch on CCTV

It's not easy until you've dealt with one or a few, then you can sniff them out like a bloodhound. These days I'm so good I can tell just from their facial expressions, the look in their eyes. It's dead and anamatronically expressive, almost robotic in an uncanny way. You can really tell when you hook up with them. The sex isnt bad, often it's good. But something about it feels weird, it feels wrong. It's like no one's home but all of the lights are on. Here's some constants with the bpd
            1) they are all the same. Definition of npc scripting, same exact function in all facets from broad to broad
            2) they cheat and cheat no matter what. They will never be loyal to anyone
            3) openly bisexual 90% of the time, closeted bi the other 10%.
            4) rampant drug and alcohol abuse, usually weed but anything is fair game. Can be secretive but it's hard to hide. They eat pills like tic tacs and don't go 5 minutes without hitting a weed pen type of deal.
            5) terrible victim mentality, always poor me wah wah despite being the abuser in 99% of situations
            6) poor family situation or childhood, typically has to do with the father but mom can be bad too
            7) always up to no good. Always. Incredibly secretive and sneaky in their ways, their whole life and personality is a lie or facade
            8) they will start hating your guts out of nowhere for no good reason. This is called 'splitting', think jekel and hide. You wake up to a long heart felt good morning paragraph and by noon they are sending 12 texts a minute about how fucked up YOU are. It's insane
This is just a few. I could write a fucking book

I think it has to do with the increasing number of broken households and the general decay of the familial unit. I think this has a more profound impact on the female psyche in particular than we understand. Males can deal with disorder and uncertainty to a much higher degree without breaking down than women can. Women just aren't suited to deal with the consequences of psychogarden gnomeclownworld the same way that men can. Especially since they're all being pushed away from starting families themselves and working themselves to death instead, it's not good. Hard work is for men, family is for women. Dad goes and works, mom stays home and raises kids. This is irrefutable and the farther we stray from this the more BPD demon women will be roaming the earth looking for souls to siphon

Don't do weed until night time. Do it during the day and you'll get nothing done. Used to think weed made everything better, but really it makes laying on the couch better than everything else. Save it for the end of the day when everything else is done.

Literally had a friend try to quit. He called me and cried, saying he didn't want to 'be alone'.
Do you know what it's like to see a grown man and a good friend cry because the high associated with weed made him feel too secure that stopping made him suffer and realise how little he was actually living life?
He did go back to smoking weed, when real life is cold and harsh and you can work a shit job to buy weed and snacks, why aspire for greatness?

        Anonymous

Does he have a poor father figure? I used to have this mindset because of a similar background experience, spending years having a cold backdrop to life without anyone you can confide it makes weed attractive. It lets you escape that crushing isolation by fleeing into a oedipal womb. It enhances the pleasure you feel and makes everything feel "vibrant" in a way that almost gives meaning to coomer-core funko-pop shit. Escaping it is super hard and this is precisely why marijuana is a gateway drug, because this escapism doesn't last and its easier to keep running into deeper escapism rather than confronting the austerity of reality and carving a meaningful existence therein.

Now I drink at social functions because it's a very important custom and is at least good for socialization. Coffee is good for work + gym and clearing shitpipes. Psychadelics are worth trying maybe a few times in life with people you trust. WEED IS NEVER WORTH IT, ITS DEGENERATE.

He doesn't know his father. Which is probably the reason why. I'm basically akin to his older brother he didn't have, trained him in the gym and so on.
Agreed, weed is just escapism for people who can't afford to travel or aren't motivated to work out.

Something I realized is that essentially everything in this image is a coping mechanism. If someone is doing all this stuff then they aren’t too happy with their life.
So instead of attacking the symptoms, why not attack the source? Why not attack the reason why you smoke/drink/masturbate in the first place? If you don’t need to cope as much then it will be easier to kick the habit.
For example, I found that I stopped drinking so much once I broke off my relationship with my sister. Long story short she’s a toxic cunt that drains the life out of you, and I eventually realized that I was drinking just to stand her presence (which didn’t help since we lived together for a long while). Once I cut ties I didn’t feel the need to drink so much anymore and now I can moderate myself

Depression is directly linked to self-esteem. It's a human instinct. Basically, if you're not serving a purpose, you are dead weight, and depression is nature's way of neutralizing you - to the point of suicide.

The cure for depression is finding purpose. It's that simple. Obviously, this is much harder for women for a multitude of reasons.

What I tell my clients is to commit to making someone else happy. It's generally a much longer speech than that, but that is the gist. It is normally the easiest route to improving your mindset. Because most people have someone they care about with-in reach, such as their parents or children.

Pharmaceuticals are a temporary stop-gap measure and not meant to be relied upon. Like smokers quitting by using electronic cigarettes. It's meant to cushion the process. That was the original idea, anyway, which got lost somewhere along the line.

Anyway, point being, if you're depressed, find a goal/purpose/etc. Personally, I live for my wife (cuck, i know). My happiness is directly linked to hers. The happier she is, so am I. That is my purpose. I am successful with that purpose, so it keeps me content with life.

You are retarded. Why would an organism self destruct like that by design? Every non-defective organism wants to live.

Because they're a liability. It's common in nature for animals to wonder off from the pack on their own permanently. This is exactly the same mechanism as depression in humans. The drive that promotes group prosperity with self-sacrifice. The difference is in civilizations current state, fleeing the 'pack' is impossible for most people. Which multiplies that intense drive to flee. Like being chained in a room filling with water. Thus, suicide is the only means of escape to protect others.

Humans are simply so up their own ass that they don't notice what's happening. They refuse to admit that instincts developed over millions of years drive them, because it doesn't jive with their perception of human dominance or morality.

Instincts are well-known and researched science, not some hippy bullshit. The implication that human instincts shift every decade with societal evolution is beyond retarded. It's why men are still chasing younger women, and why women get a dozen cats when they don't have children.

true depression is rare. most women on SSRDs confuse happiness and fun. if they're not having fun, they think they're not happy. which is why they need constant stimulation and occurrence rates of depression in women is 1.7x higher than in men. over-diagnosis

First off, that's just plain wrong. Watch some nature documentaries. Secondly, even if that were true, how are those examples different in relation to the topic of fleeing for preservation of the group? If anything, it reiterates the point that its instinct to abandon the group when your presence is a liability.

not at all. your just being willfully ignorant and demanding dots be connected for you. its a woman's arguing tactic to make busy work as a means to win a losing argument (ie: demanding source, examples, proof, etc). it's based on the idea that the other person is too lazy to fight back, netting you a win.

enjoy that "win". if you can't make the connection between animal behavior, tribal behavior that dominated homo-sapiens for 280,000 years (and previous evolutions of the species millions of years before that), and modern behavior patterns, you're just a brainlet.

Humans evolved to spend time in nature, move towards goals and have meaningful connections. Sapiens by Yuvral Harari, Industry society and its consequences by Theodore Kaczynsky, Mans Search for Meaning, Twilight of the Idols by Friedrich Nietzsche, Storm and Steel by Ernst Junger, the Republic by Plato, the Bible. My arm hurts from masturbating too much and now I cant jerk off anymore. It feels like my arm is on fire and has cactus needles stuck in it. The withdrawals from pornography are agonizing. Because I usually spent all my free time masturbating I dont have anything to do now but sit in pain with my arm hurting.

I cant use my other hand because I'll be too tempted to use my dominant hand. I got one of those automatic masturbators but its terrible. I also tried sticking things in my ass to see if I could have a hands free orgasm but I started shitting blood.

Every time I think my arm is gonna get better I masturbate again and the pain is even worse, like a snake wrapping around my entire arm. This has been going on for a few weeks already and the pain keeps getting worse each time I break nofap. If I cant figure out something soon I'll have to be committed in a mental institution. I hate women too much to ever have sex with one so that's not an option for me, and a prostitute would cost too much. I cant live without my 10 hour fapping streaks. It's like life has no meaning now.

I feel okay. Single biggest problem is porn though. If I could stop that I would be a new person entirely. It's just so alluring though. I can't even find a good porn blocking service so that I can block the porn and keep the internet. The internet isn't the problem, just quick easy access to the dope.

Many people that are depressed are depressed because they do things for extrinsic value that they bring rather than the intrinsic motivation of doing the thing itself.

A piano player that loves playing piano and that plays piano for several hours a day will probably be happy if he gets to do it on his own terms.

If a piano player, even if he previously loved to play piano, is forced to play piano for several hours per day in order to make money to survive, will probably not like playing piano before too long. Playing piano will likely cause many negative symptoms. He is not playing for the intrinsic value of playing. He is playing for the extrinsic value that the activity will bring.

Johann Hari did a JRE where he laid all of this out, as well as drug addiction. Fascinating stuff. Identify all of the stuff you do that you do for extrinsic reward vs things that have intrinsic value to you. You may find that you literally do nothing in your life for the sole purpose of doing that thing, which is pretty fucked up. You may find that everything that you do is in service to attaining something else. While it's great to have goals, the more you do things like that, the more depressed you will become. You gotta reconnect with things that you enjoy and do things that you enjoy simply because. Do them simply for the sake of doing them.

IST and YouTube can be used for good, you can find the rare threads where you actually learn something and have some meaningful discussion with others. I'd even say that a little shitposting here and there won't hurt, just like having banter with friends wouldn't. YouTube is the same, you can waste hours watching dumb shit or find stuff that you can learn from. Just gotta regulate your use. Video games are just boring to me personally, I used to be a huge gamer but less and less each year because at some point you realize they are all the same toy just packaged differently.
