Racking them is just an exercise in futility. As soon as someone wants to use them, they gotta unrack them anyway. Why waste the time reracking and unracking?

so you know where to find a certain weight instead of doing a treasure hunt around the gym looking for the weight you want

here’s the thing (not OP): I’d rerack them, but you guys get so unreasonably pissed off that you almost force my hand (to not rerack my weights)

This is one of those things I see only on the internet. I've been to gyms in 5 countries, and never seen anything like this. The most I saw is that sometimes people leave their plates on a barbell, but that's rare. What causes this?

I kind of want to start a private gym with ridiculously strict rules. Like if you don't rerack you're banned for life. don't wipe down the machine? banned for life. currently using a machine I want to use and don't get up immediately? banned for life. it's my gym. what are you going to do?

Lol one night at my old gym I left like 225 on the squat rack and I got an email the next day from the gym owner who I guess had checked the cameras

Why? That should be the minimum on the squat rack anyway. Everyone else should just watch teletubbies and eat brownies.

So I work at a gym and I can tell you this kind of behavior would get you kicked out in a split second especially if we would prove with video evidence that you did this one purpose. the truth is though I'm being paid to work the front desk and maintain the bathrooms, I'm not there to put up weights you leave hanging around.

If you check your respective gym contract, you will see we can nullify your contract for any reason and this would most certainly qualify. As an assistant junior manager, I would not even need approval before I would escort you from the gym (perhaps with a police escort if you don't come willingly that may sound extreme but tough luck)

The bottom line is that there a very simple solution to this problem. Pick up your fucking weights. When I'm off clock and working out, I don't leave my weights hanging around because "it's not my problem."
