The crossfit leg-drive pullup is just embarrassing but not hyperextending your elbows and coming to a dead stop at the bottom is just retarded extra work that trains nothing important.
I never did any sports ever and spent 31 years of my life smoking a pack a day, eating sneed oils and drinking and YET I got to 12 pull ups from dead hang after 4 months of irregular training when my squat was 70kg for one rep
