Normie obsession with not getting "too big"

A normie friend of mine started going to the gym with me, I offered him protein powder and he said he didn't wanna "get too big". Like he was gonna wake up one day as Mr olympia. My family have also warned me not to get "too big". Does the average normie think you can become a bodybuilder by accident?

they don't want you to try too hard and make them feel bad
anyone that says they personally don't want to be too big is trying to be coy and make excuses for why they don't try harder
basically no one wants to try hard or think too much about other people trying hard
"everyone wants to be a bodybuilder but nobody want to lift no heavy ass wileights"

Normies have no idea how much work and diligence it takes to build a good body. They just see people on social media who pin and think that's what a normal person can do in a year. The moronation runs deep for the uninitiated

Yes, as the average capeshit star gets ripped in 4 weeks and the Rock is natty

I don't know what I'd point my finger at but maybe it's the fact that few people actually do strength sports as a share of the population. Like nobody says "no I don't want to get a career in [high paying field/position], I don't want to get too rich", even if they have a negative opinion of extremely rich people. The only people who say "If I made this much money I'd give most of it away to charity" are the kind of people that have never made that kind of money.

I've always interpreted it as them saying not to care too much about it. For example: "I'm not looking to get huge or anything. I'd just like to do some exercise."

That's a year progress even if you have shit genetics, you trained hard for 1 year at best and then started training just enough to mantain your muscle and strength, train harder than last time homosexual

I doubt this would be a year of progress even if we assume someone lifts for a year on a split that works and starts out with an optimal diet and has perfect form from the onset and they don't frick anything up along the way. Post body btw

Assuming a "normal" range of genetic ability to build muscle, having one on the lower end and one on the upper end, without either being genetic freaks, there could still be a 300% difference in gains made per year.

Midwits always overestimate being good at any skill. You've seen them with pushing communism when it was trendy, them thinking they're good at self-deconstruction and self-deprecation until someone actually critiques them, and so forth.

You gotta not be afraid to push towards heavier weights. Find a few bros to spot you if you really need the security.

I don't want to get "too big" and lose aesthetics, but I know that no matter how hard I work, unless I start to dirty bulk and run every androgen and anabolic under the sun, I won't even get close, so it's entirely fricking irrelevant of a sentiment

He was politely trying to tell you that you are fricking fat and he doesn't want to end up like you.

Arnold's old response to people saying they didn't wanna get as big as him was just "don't worry. you never will ;)"

As long as you're actually in shape it usually shuts this down pretty quickly. Don't use it if you're some dyel zoomer who started lifting 6 months ago because of baki tho

Yes, because they have never really tried to become fit or big. At best they have fricked around in the gym, saw some noobie gains and thought progress is going to be linear. That's also why when they look at someone who has probably lifted between 2-3 years and think he basically just started lifting.

girls say this all the time too afraid to lift weight cause they dont want to get too big like it takes no effort. ironically they all wanted a body like britney spears back in the day and she obviously did weight conditioning

what is the normie obsession in the gym with gaining weight = good? i was eating garbage and gained nothing but fat and all the morons said i put on size and was looking good. women all said i looked like shit, but men thought just gaining lbs of fat and looking like a slob looked great?? why do normie gym gays worship "mass" even if its all fat?

Same for me when I was peak bulk I got the most compliments from male friends and even random men. Whenever I pulled the calories back a bit and lost a few pounds and looked a bit smaller or wasn't carbed up and full to the brim my mates would point out how I lost size even though it was either just water or fat.

Normies unironically believe that you can get Mr. Olympia big within a year by "going to the gym" and "eating clean" (rice and chicken breast, skip the sweets from time to time).

They also believe Arnold was natty.
