I shilled HIT training to my gym bro and he fell for the meme. We are both advanced and we want to make some more gains and I convinced him with logic and facts that this might work.

The only downsides so far is that we are both depressed because we are literal gymcels and went from 7 days in the gym to only two, the qt receptionist thought I died. Unironically IST shilled me this guy and his advocates but I don’t know if it’s just a fit psyop to workout less and lose all your gains by doing one set only.

I'd take the suboptimal gains for the sake of working out 5 days a week. I'd really only do HIT if I REALLY needed the extra free time. But I enjoy lifting and I try to keep all my workouts under 50 minutes so I don't really have a problem right now.

      >if it’s just a fit psyop to workout less and lose all your gains by doing one set only
there's like 3 guys in the whole internet community that have looked impressive in the last 5 years using "perfect HIT philosophy"

high intensity has a lot of merit, one of my greatest physiques was acquired doing RPT and Leangains back in 2014 ... but Mentzer got too high on meth and Ayn Rand and tried too hard to prove his logic was so sound that you could take it to the absolute extreme

We should take from him what is useful & discard what's not.
His system is meant to be all-encompassing, applicable to all, but what happens if you do what he says, single set training, with the intensity required, & don't make gains, & increase the recovery days continuously like he says to, & continue to not make gains? Then switch to doing three sets for an exercise twice a week & make gains? There's no explanation for that in his worldview.
High quality controlled high effort sets for lower volumes is fricking based though

My only issue is now I’m training upper/lower with x1 frequency

IIRC mike advised a push/legs/pull/legs split so yu have no right to be complaining lel

Uhh no you don't recall correctly. He advocated a chest & back day, a leg day & a shoulders & arms day. And you would take a few days off after each day of exercise so your frequency would actually be lower than 1X a week per muscle for direct training

This is so bad. That body weight ottermode shitty program that was shilled here would work better than this kek

Why are you telling me to check out the tapes when I've accurately stated what Mike has said

Wait nvm I saw your second post. I know about that routine where it's chest+back, legs, shoulders+arms, legs again. But Mike also recommended the chest+back, legs, shoulders+arms, repeat thing too, a bit earlier on.

it's literally just called being roided to the gills, which is not healthy for you. Imagine tripping over yourself trying to argue why X pro bodybuilder had the best most optimal training method when they're big simply because they trained decently well and used a shitload of steroids. Who are you people who don't understand this?

so your opinion is that we should all just roid ?

Remember that one time Dorian Yates won Mr. Olympia 6 times in a row? The other competitors were also all on steroids. If one steroid user beat all the other steroid users, then the method he used might have some merit.

How did gymcels convince themselves they need to train hard for 2 hours 6 days a week when even top athletes dont train that hard

They literally do though, the successful ones at least

nick walker for example follows HIT

Nick Walker does a bro split with 3-5 exercises per body part. He just happens to do 1-2 sets per exercise. That's not the same thing as HIT.
