>I have not seen one (1) single person do a deadlift, a BB OHP or a BB row yet
>Barely anyone squats, and 90% of those who do are women
>I have seen more people curl in the squat rack than actually squatting (not exaggerated)
>Most buff dudes seem to mostly do cables all day(?)
>I am still the skinniest dude by a long shot
>there are zero fat people
thanks for coming to my TED talk
What type of gym do you go to?
the literal only one in my small town
btw I'm not complaining, it's fine, I'm simply observing the discrepancy between everything I've been reading online and what actually seems to be happening
go to a dedicated bodybuilding or pwerlifting gym and it's world's apart
commercial gyms attracts casuals
how often do you see anyone bench 2pl8s with good form and full rom?
I go to a Uni gym and during primetime you have to stand in line to get a rack. They have 15+ racks.
I have seen 4pl+ benches, 6pl+ deadlifts and 4.5pl8+ squats.
Saw a girl do 2pl squats once, I haven't lifted for 5+ years and the game has stepped up, mogfare has changed.
I go to a cheap-ish kind of gym.
>EVERYONE deadlifts... from lanklets doing plate to high schoolers doing 3 plates
>never seen anyone aside from myself doing OHP or BB row
>everyone squats (only 2 squat racks) so ppl usually waiting for them
>everyone loves cables
>no skeletons at the gym
>lot of fat ppl
I would rather have ur gym
eh, the last one i went to was:
>buff guys always doing cardio or cables
>powershitters always in the power racks
>women always on the treadmills or doing squats (DICKEN BOOTY)
>I have not seen one (1) single person do a deadlift, a BB OHP or a BB row yet
Okay, but what about married people?
Most people in the gym avoid whats hard because it challenges their ego and exposes how weak they are. Why humble yourself with heavy deadlifts and rows or multile sets of heavy paused bench press triples when you could just pump yourself up with machine rows and chest presses and then jerk off?
>>Most buff dudes seem to mostly do cables all day(?)
This is true everywhere
> buff dude who has been lifting for years does bench press to start his chest workout
> does dumbell presses
> moves to cables for triceps to continue workout
> you enter the gym
> you see the buff dude doing tricep pushdowns with cables
> "wow, buff dudes only use cables! I guess i can just copy them and use cables with 10% of the weight theyre using!"
this why dyels will stay dyel
idk, you can do a lot with cables. You can work pretty much any muscle with cables so if people are using cables every workout for 1-2 exercises you're probably more likely to see them using cables than anything else
No one with any kind of significant gains uses cables as their main focus of training
It's more like
> you see the buff dude doing tricep pushdowns with cables
> "wow, buff dudes only use cables FOR TRICEPS! I guess i can just copy them for triceps
after working out for 2 years / 16 months in a gym
>>I have not seen one (1) single person do a deadlift, a BB OHP or a BB row yet
i have seen three guys deadlift, but nowhere near 4 plates
i have seen one power lifter type guy doing decent BB OHP as well as BB row, but nobody else
anyone squats
yes
>>and 90% of those who do are women
yes
>>I have seen more people curl in the squat rack than actually squatting
yes
>>Most buff dudes seem to mostly do cables all day
in my gym, they all start with a couple of BB compounds and then loads of isolations at cables, weirdly very few DB exercises
>>I am still the skinniest dude by a long shot
i'm not
are zero fat people
there are a couple overweight people, but mostly boomers over 50 so good for them that they at least try
my gym is a small rural one and half the people going there are 40 or older
barbell rows are for gays anyway
Doing them has helped strengthen my back and I have had less back problems from work since I have been doing them
Why you hating sir?
I'm the only one who deadlifts at my gym
Thank you for this beautiful talk. *stands up claps*
Did you know that if you get on a basic beginner program with the focus on the deadlift, ohp, squat, bench, row, you will be stronger then 90% of the people in the gym in less then 5-6 months?
Gyms like that suck. Returning to lifting a couple of months ago I was incentivised to speed run getting back to acceptable, but comparatively mediocre strength levels.
u suck
