I found it to be one of the easiest way to lose weight. One (reasonable) meal a day.

from what I’ve been able to tell, it’s best if it’s dinner

Well I am not hungry in the morning and throughout the day, tea and coffee can be used to suppress hunger. Eating at night is the easiest for me.

One meal a day translates to one painful shit every 3 days

For me it's just one tiny shit.

Cutting absolutely. Progressing, not on your life. I have enough energy to make it through my day and maybe 20 minutes on the stationary bike but my lifts go to shit. That is just the nature of things. I like how Penn Jillette put it with his potato reset, you have to treat weight loss like if you were a bear hibernating, it is ok to be slow because you aren’t really taking anything in if you are following the plan perfectly. Obviously Penn looks like a melted ice cream cone so you aren’t looking to him for recomp and aesthetics, but if you are looking for a cut he is the poster boy.

You need electrolytes that’s why you feel weak. Drink snake juice. Look it up

There is some evidence about IM fasting helping with insulin resistance etc but at the end of the day it’s all about your caloric needs, not the frequency in which you eat. So if you can get all your calories for the day in one meal, go for it. My maintenance is 3k calories and the Idea of eating that in one meal is sickening

I know that changing meal timing would have some effect on metabolism, as well as energy level consistency throughout the day. What can you say abt these?

      Anonymous

High eating frequencies cause inflammation like crazy. It’s better just to eat a large meal at dinner only. Lions only eat once. They feast and then fast

I started OMAD back in September and ran it through the end of November, so about 3 months. I went from 185 to 173 (5' 11" manlet king btw), but I plateaued hard during that last month with not a lot of difference. I think my metabolism adjusted to the lower caloric intake. Also my lifts were shit; I had to cut out legs completely, and I just kept my upper body at maintenance level. I've shifted over to a 1.5MAD sort of thing along with restarting my standard lifting protocol, trying to recomp.

Also obviously I did OMAD as a means of calorie restriction; previous year I was bulking with 2000+ calories a day, then with OMAD cut out all but one meal to get around 1200-1500 calories per day. Probably too harsh on my body which is why my metabolism slowed down tbh, but it worked for awhile.

        >Probably too harsh on my body which is why my metabolism slowed down
And why your lifts went to shit. I did an OMAD of 1500-1600 calories a day, and my lifts weren't affected.

People feel weak when eating once a day cause they don’t have electrolytes(salts). Look up snake juice diet. I eat but I never drink regular bottled water anymore. I drink snake juice. Cause it’s just one dip for me and I don’t feel thirsty but for regular water I have to drink two or more cups

      Monster. Drink it.

what about OMEOD? fast for 48 hours and then you can eat 3500 calories and still be on a cut.

      That sounds moronic.

      omad saved my marriage

      what.

I don't OMAD when cutting but I do something similar. I'll have a banana for breakfast, workout and then have a protein shake. Then I wait till dinner to eat. The nice thing about reducing the amount of meals is that you can get away with eating fricking garbage. I'd regularly eat fast food multiple times a week and I lost 40 lbs. It does make reaching protein goals annoying though if you're an idiot like me.

I eat one meal a day - dinner. Occasionally I'll do a brunch thing on the weekends. Generally feels good during the day. Didnt really get into it for fitness/aesthetic reasons, just didn't really like eating breakfast. And with a meaty dinner lunch didn't really feel necessary either.

something something fasting is good for you something something fasting fricks your body

are you cutting? yes it works
    are you bulking? no
    are you maintaining? probably not

omad wont rape you unless you do it for like 5+ years, IF (16:8) doesnt matter because you wont practice it everyday, and fasting isnt good if you do more than like 7 days every 2 months

muh protein? let your body sort it out, sure IF is probably the farthest saftey net you can go, but if it works it works.

I'm doing a PSMF and either do IF OMAD or normal eating depends on how i feel that day

try to do at least 4x a day, if you are like me and dont get hungry in the AM do 3x IF, if thats not good enough throw a protein shake down when you wake up (and sometime around lunch) and then OMAD.

    >Do OMAD and avoid pasta/pizza/slop

    >COVID happens
    >Get bored WFH and start eating 2 meals a day again
    >Eat 3 meals a day
    >End 2021 weighing 200lb

    What can I say.

Absolutely not a meme. I was 240lbs in 2019. Saw a picture of myself and decided to make a change. OMAD and walking has brought me down to 155lbs alone. Once I hit 150lbs I'm starting my lifts.

It seemed like an impossible feat back then, but now I realize how easy it truly is. Just stop eating as much. It's literally that simple. Learn patience and be humble.

Also one big tip I can give you is to acquire a taste for Green Tea (no additives except honey but still you should try not to add anything) and Dark chocolate (Only 85% and up and ONLY 4 squares a day MAX). These are fantastic appetite suppressants and also incredible for you. Plus you'll learn to love the subtle flavours of both. Win-Win-Win scenario.

You weren't doing what OMAD wants you to do. Nevertheless, you still got where you wanted to be by classic caloric restriction anyway. So congratulations.

depends on you goal. You won't be breaking PRs or growing when fasting. Otherwise you will be losing weight and cutting amazingly while also gaining the benefits of fasting.
IMO fasting is only recommended if you suffer (or risk suffering) some metabolic disease like diabetes.

It doesn’t at all. One meal a day is optimal but only at dinner. Since when you’re in a fasted state, you work, after eating, you’re satiated and just want to chill

I mean the “borrowing” calories shit

Forgot to add I was doing like ~1200 calorie max while still trying to lift, so it's obvious why my lifts went to shit. I had to learn the hard way from doing classic OMAD without the protein shake and just half a monster zero ultra in the morning

works to cut BF but that's it. Just IF and open up your feeding window to 8 hours. Cigarettes and black coffee for breakfast [0 calories ;)] helps get me to lunch, I recommend it,

You can't get fat if you only eat once a day. You'd have to go out of your way to do so.
Hard for the first 2-3 weeks, then it just gets natural.
A grown human being should not be eating 3 times a day.

It helped me lose relatively quickly at around .5 pound a day, but your lifts will be shit when doing pure OMAD and only eating something like dinner.

I recommend doing a semi OMAD where you drink a low calories protein shake (2 scoops protein 2 cups 30 calorie almond milk some instant coffee)
in the morning and eat dinner. Try to keep dinner reasonable and ONLY dinner, no dessert.
It'll help with lifting as you guarantee decent protein and just enough energy in the morning to keep you going until ~5pm.
Also drinking no milk coffee can also help with hunger as the caffeine suppresses hunger and black coffee has nearly no calories (don't even try adding milk)
