I split firewood all summer, sometimes the axe gets stuck, so I lift the log and axe over my head and swing them both down to split it. I don't need to give you 5 because that one is so necessary for me that I need a good ohp.
Most of them are a lot heavier than 30lbs, closer to 80, then I have to swing them down over my head at full force. I get huge pieces of wood from an arborist I know, they aren't really concerned with making them small. My lat pulldown is massive from a decade+ of doing this every year.
I pressed a 60lb crate (lightweight baby) over my head to stack it on another crate in front of a cute 21yo I work with because she couldnt do it. It wasn't heavy so much as awkward and like 4ft long.
I remember a time when I (manual worker) saw an intern girl (office worker) and she was trying to lift a large water cooler bottle that was wrapped in plastic with a bunch of other ones, and I said let me handle it, cut the wrap open and just picked it up to her head's height. She blushed and stroked her hair and muttered "thankyouverymuch", then hugged it with both arms to carry it. So cute. It feels great to be strong bros. Girls love it when you lift heavy shit overhead.
I can OHP 50kgs for 1 rep (no cheating, all the way up) but can't even bench 70kgs. How do I fix this? I increased bench frequency to 2x a week as well.
i do 6 reps of 80kg now @84kg bodyweight and 187cm height
the key for me was to look at klokov form and adapt it and increase ohp volume to 5x a week
progression was slow, though, took me almost a year of trial and error to go from 50kg to this
OHP is very technique dependant for me, my ohp going up is literaly just me learning to push press subtly a la bruce lee one Inch punch, but think one micrometer hip thrust and quad flex, subtle enough that you couldn’t call me for it.
>go all the way to failure >the same weight a few times until you’ve added a couple of reps >increase the weight by a small amount >repeat
You’re welcome.
somehow when i cut my ohp stayed at 135 even though i stopped doing the lift completely and just did a fuckton of dips. idk what that means but im just telling you what happened.
>cutting >all my lifts stall except OHP which continues to increase >OHP only stalls as I near bodyweight for reps
I guess I just have good genes for delt strength. Wish I had good genes for cutting, it is taking me forever.
this is because you idiots train for strength
stalls occur from shit programming
push press is not a shoulder exercise
post your "powerbuilding" guts and your meet total
>eat 1 single calorie below maintenance
>your working weight decreases by 10 lbs
Wow almost like you have less energy when you eat less energy how cool is that
> OHP is my weakest lift so I cope by saying only fatties are good at it
this. only roidcels and gigachads with good genes have strong shoulders
It's a useless redundant lift anyway
you don't lift things above your head ever?
Give me 5 real world reasons why you'll ever lift something above your head like an OHP press

i was doing that when i was 15 with no training
1 you're a gay
2 you're a gay
3 you're a gay
4 you're a gay
5 you're a gay

You should've lifted her up and carried her home anon. You missed your chance.
I knew she had a bf, but I wish. She was a cutie.
Yeah it's a nice feeling. Same situation for me, old girl has a BF but I still flirt with her and banter.
Slam dropping manlets like you
Furniture. If you aint got the grip strength to hold it and lift it up in front of you you're fucked.
this is exactly what deadlifts excels at, not ohp
Performing a backbreaker on a homeless moron
I really want to lift a cute girl above my head effortlessly.
it's a great antagonist lift if you're a rock cloomber
just having more shoulder muscle in general greatly reduces the risk of injury from climbing
>throwing women
>throwing manlets
>throwing politicians
>throwing pitbulls
>throwing children
Yup, OHP is very based.
>throwing slack jawed beta phaggots
Lifting your backpack over your head when crossing a river
post lifts gay
didn't think so, dyel gay confirmed.
>i only became fat so i can increase my OHP

Based. I currently kb press 3x a week ~70-90reps per hand. I don't fucking think I could press 5x a week.
spread out the volume
do 15-20 heavy sets but divided by 5
i feel like ohp is all about practise
I mostly do ladders or sets of five. Ladders preferably because it's easy to accumulate lot of volume and mentally it is easier for some reason.
>kb press
what the fuck??
>t.
Yeah all good, now just give it time and your bench will increase
Do you guys rest the barbell on your shoulders or only to your neck
I rest it at the top feels lightest there
I will not accept any slander to OHP, have a nice day you fucking dyel gay
based ohp enjoyer, op &
are dyel gays and are ngmi
>Completely transforms and improves the OHP experience (I'm not sure why though, it just does)
Thanks false grip!
sounds interesting anon, might try it sometime
RIP your life
Suicide grip
that's not a false grip
>not sure why
It stacks the weight on top of your forearms easier
-ACK!
I'm so shit at holding the bar in the right place and it hurts my wrists, should I full grip it rather than suicide?
>Start doing Klokov press and push press
>OHP increases by 10lbs in a month.
I do 30 reps 3 sets lf OHPs with just the olympic barbell. It's great tbh a friend of mine who does boxing taught me it.
So 30 reps with just 45?
No literally just the barbell no plates.
it didn't even increase with my bloat maxxing. if you don't actively prioritize it it just stays the same lol
OHP is very technique dependant for me, my ohp going up is literaly just me learning to push press subtly a la bruce lee one Inch punch, but think one micrometer hip thrust and quad flex, subtle enough that you couldn’t call me for it.

You’re welcome.
I do them seated and at a slight incline, no issues.
i've unironically been gaining strength on this while cutting
I've been stalling hard on these tbh
what do? need new programming
You literally will never need to go above 1pl8 anyway
Only roidtrannies and powerlards would disagree
fuck ohp, overrated exercise. bench is way better
>>only increases if you bloatmax
False
Did 150x8 and it was better than sex
mfw i can bench 82,5kg for 5 reps yet 42,5kg x 5 on OHP makes me bounce like i'm basketball
somehow when i cut my ohp stayed at 135 even though i stopped doing the lift completely and just did a fuckton of dips. idk what that means but im just telling you what happened.
I hit 115x5 and have stalled for a month what the fuck is wrong with me
do 120 5x3
start push pressing, it'll increase your ohp. push press is like the romanian deadlift of the ohp
This but only if you do negatives on the way down
>tfw it's OHP day
>cutting
>all my lifts stall except OHP which continues to increase
>OHP only stalls as I near bodyweight for reps
I guess I just have good genes for delt strength. Wish I had good genes for cutting, it is taking me forever.
>Bodyweight goes from 205lbs to 185lbs
>Bench 1rm goes from 275 to 285
>Push Press 1rm goes from 205 to 175
>Strict Overhead gets even worse
What did I mean by this
>me on the couch
this is because you idiots train for strength
stalls occur from shit programming
push press is not a shoulder exercise
post your "powerbuilding" guts and your meet total
Youre supposed to do them seated and with dumbbells
I haven't increased my OHP by a single kg in a almost a year.
